About
Rocky River Golf Club was carefully carved from lush, rolling hills and natural wetlands with the intent of preserving the beautiful terrain as much as possible. The course flows across the dramatic natural contours of the land, providing holes with plenty of elevation changes. Running alongside the rolling fairways are winding ribbons of native wetland grasses that weave through rocky outcroppings. Golfers shouldn't be surprised if they come across some of the wildlife that inhabits the course, which includes cranes, deer, and beavers. In addition to the stunning scenery, the golf course offers a challenging round. The large, contoured greens demand accurate iron play. Errant shots will find their way to the wetland areas or the patches of seeded fescue. In addition to the golf course, Rocky River offers a driving range with four target greens as well as a putting and chipping green.

I booked this course to play with my sons when I flew to NC to see them. Course was nice but very dissapointed in that it was cart path only due to not water but a product that was supposedly applied to make the grass greener. If I had know this I would not have booked the course.
Good layout, worth playing
Really like the layout and back 9. Greens are fast but fair and there are a number of unique holes to keep you coming back. That said, the cart path only during dry conditions is a bit annoying and the cart GPS does not work consistently. So they could get a 5 star review if they fix a few things.

Greens were fine fairways and tee boxes not so good.
Need more lunch choices in the restaurant.
Very good golf course and the fast greens were even better.

Greens were immaculate and extremely fast. Only criticism is that the tee boxes were in poor condition. And tees were shuffled around to shorten the course.

Excellent layout. One of the better public courses in the Charlotte area.

The course is greening up. Was CPO today but could have been 90 degrees on most fairways. Greens were running fast and true.
Senior group
We have a senior group which plays many courses locally. This is far and away our favorite to play
Great Charlotte Course
This is one of the best public courses around Charlotte. Staff is very friendly, carts have GPS, greens are in great shape and the layout is great.
Big Bang for your Buck!
I may be old school, but I rate golf courses based on the overall bang (value) for your dollar spent. Course layout is beautiful and challenging. Course conditions still early spring, but improving each week. Greens are firm and roll true and fast for this time of year. Bunkers are well maintained. Inside and outside staff are pleasant and helpful. And beverages are cold. You would be hard pressed to find a better golf course in the Charlotte area to equal the "Bang for your Buck".
Overpriced
Course is so crowded. Tee boxes in horrific shape. Good greens! Overall, course has gone downhill in the last couple of months, but hopefully with some tee box maintenance, course will get back to par. Friendly staff!
