Golfer Reviews
Great course for the price
Can you find cheaper tee times? Yes. Will they be as good as it was here? No. The price is still great and for this course it's a steal
Good value for price. Great customer service
Course was nice. Easy to check in.
Grass was long with clippings everywhere. Rough sod around the greens, but overall the greens were good and the fairway was in decent shape. The snack shack closed at noon and no beverage cart.
Disrespectful Golf Marshal
I’ve consistently played Foothills for the past 4 years and always had nothing but good things to say regarding staff, course conditions and pace of play.
That all changed this past Saturday when the marshal harassed my friend and I 4 times in 5 holes for our pace when we had no group trailing us in sight. We finished the front 9 in 2h and finished the round in 4:10 with 5 cart path only holes factored in. The final time the marshal offered the only white player in our group the option to separate from us and play ahead by himself which he refused because we were maintaining a solid pace and enjoying ourselves. I’ll be taking a step back from Foothills for a while.
Need Improvement
The course condition is not good at the moment. The are areas that needs repair. The fairways are patchy. The only reason I gave this a 3 stars is because of the views and the friendliness of the staff. This course could have a lot of potential.
Worst value in AZ
No range
Every hole had ground under repair
No water stations
Sprinklers turned on and soaked us during multiple holes
I have played courses for this price in way better condition.
Absolutely horrible experience
You’ll be upset if you pay to play here
To management : put some more money into your course instead of the clubhouse and there should be warnings on your website about how much ground under repair there is
lots going on on fairways with the eairfication process rather difficult round greens were OK
Not great
Course is in terrible condition, fairways are fried and mostly black dirt that looks super ugly. Greens aren’t terrible but really slow. Staff was nice, pace was fine. Curious to see what it looks like in summer but not worth any money right now!
Dead fairways and mud around greens
I’ve played here many times in the past and love the course. When I checked in at clubhouse started did not mention anything about course condition. Many of the holes have fairways of dead grass or heavily watered muds. 5 of the holes have greens where the perimeter has been stripped down an inch below the grass level like the greens are being expanded. This is the worst condition I have seen here, would have been nice if starter had mentioned any of this
Foothills in June
Very nice and friendly staff. Layout well done, not too difficult for a 10 month in golfer. Course fairway grass was just seeded and existing grass was dying. Greens were still well kept.
Greens nice / fairways beat up
Bare spots outnumber the good grass on a chunk of the fairways. Greens are in fantastic shape though - and pace was good.
Great course - not so great condition
I’ll give a very upfront review - the course will be great in about 2-3 months. I’m someone that tries to not break the bank playing & am an Arizona native, born & raised. This course is not as bad as Golden Hills or a Kokopelli but it’s certainly no Biltmore or Troon/other desert style courses. The front 9 was pretty good, I’d say 7/10. You can tell they were aerated recently but the grass had grown a bit to where the fairways were not bad. Greens were rolling true & really good, which is ALWAYS a struggle for these cheaper arizona courses. The back 9 was really bad though, greens were still fantastic but it was obvious they had aerated more recent than the front 9 as you were playing over rough lies & wheel lines. Honest assessment: if you are wanting to save money but still be challenged in terms of course layout, this is the right course. If you’re looking to have great lies in the fairways great lies, then wait a few more months before playing here. Truthfully, excited to see this course with a little more time, it used to be a phenomenal course but has fallen off over the past few years. I think the potential is there but will be a matter of how they work with the fairways in the coming months.
Unplayable
Over the years I have played The Foothills Golf Course, many times, However, with the many changes in the course management. The course condition has falling into a total mess, most fairways especially back nine are under renovation, The greens are the only thing that are in great condition. If I had been made aware of this before booking my tee time I would have booked at another course.
Recently aerated fairways, very dry
The greens were in good shope but the fairways were recently plugged and somewhat dried out
