Briar Bay Golf Course
About
Briar Bay Golf Course, opened in 1975, is an affordably priced executive course that stretches out over 30 acres. The course presents challenges for all players, beginning to advanced. The layout features elevated greens that are small and fast, narrow fairways that are protected with bunkers. Water hazards also come into play on a few holes. Although it is located near a residential area the course promises an interesting layout that goes in every direction. Briar Bay Golf Course facility lacks some of the amenities of a private club, but they do boast a practice green and a clubhouse.

No starter, weak pace of play
The fact there is no starter controlling the 1st tee exposed abuse and slow play. We had a six player grouping trying to start before us so we paired up with someone at the tee thankfully getting in front of them.
Nice but no starter chaos
My first time playing course and had a 10:30 tee. First there was a group of six college kids purchasing to play just after 10, Two adults on the tee box, two singles back to back not paired. Myself and another young man noticed the chaos and promptly offered to join the second single at the tee to avoid walking six group. All went well until the third hole where a threesome skipped the chaos of the Six and took our spot on the third as we drove to the tee.
They apologized but still it was all because of the missing starter or some resemblance of control at the starting tee. Never should the Six been allowed to play together, but that just poor course management.
To be honest after the third I had a great time as the pace of play was very good. The Six blocked everyone behind us.
Getting better every month
This is is the 4th or 5th time I’ve played here since Thanksgiving. The course is getting better every month. They are putting some love into Briar.
Much better than before
The greens aren't pure sand anymore; they're a little long but roll well. Fairways were in good condition, some teeboxes could use some help, but overall much better than it used to be.
Pleasantly surprised
Played here for the first time on Thanksgiving and most greens were not in good shape. Today they were fantastic. Fairways are in decent condition. Staff is super friendly. You can’t beat the value this course provides and it is great for irons practice.
9 hole course great for beginners and cheap
Super old golf course in SW Miami Dade. Plenty of tee times, golf carts do not have GPS, fairways are Ok, greens are bad (especially in the summer) at least a stroke, staff is friendly, a lot of beginners do play here. Course has a few large ponds; hardest hole is #3 with elevated green with water hazard and bunkers protecting it. You can walk or ride, no driving range, only has chipping and putting area. I like playing here especially if you are single player or want to play a quick round.
It's only good enough for a practice round
I've been playing here for over a decade. The course has definitely seen much better days. The tee boxes are a mess, the greens are like old shaggy carpet with patches, and the sand traps have very little to no sand. They're essentially rock traps. All that being said, the course is good enough for a practice round to shake off some rust or to work on your wedges and irons. The layout is actually nice, but it needs lots of attention to be considered a good course. If you're paying more than $25 dollars, it's overpriced.
