Great Shape! Fast Greens
The course was in excellent shape from the fairways to the green. Took a while to get used to greens because of speed(fast) but all ran true. Staff was helpful from the beginning and Oskee bar was great!
Excellent as always
Course was in fabulous condition as always. Play here a couple times a year and it has never disappointed. Staff is friendly and informative.
Best public course in the area
Got another great GolfNow deal—just $30 with a cart! This was my fourth round here this year, and every visit reminds me why I enjoy this course so much.
The greens are noticeably faster than the Orange and Blue courses I usually play, and the tee boxes, fairways, and greens are all well maintained. It’s a true links-style championship course, with many greens featuring subtle double breaks, so knowing your precise carry distances is essential.
This isn’t a course where you can automatically pull out the driver on every par 4 or par 5. Water hazards and creeks come into play on several holes, making course management and smart club selection off the tee much more important than sheer distance.
Another bonus: the course isn’t crowded, so I finished the round in just 3.5 hours.
Overall, it’s a fantastic championship layout. I’ll definitely be back whenever GolfNow has another great deal!
Best public course in East Central Illinois
Atkins is the best, most challenging public course in East Central Illinois. Always in amazing shape, friendly staff and great atmosphere. Highly recommend getting a tee time and playing this gem of a course
Atkins Golf Club
Atkins is a collegiate-level course that is exceptionally well maintained and truly a gem in the area. Its standout features include fast, tri-level greens and numerous expertly kept greenside bunkers that challenge players throughout the round.
The club staff was incredibly friendly, and the GPS carts provided reasonably accurate distances. Overall, the course stands out as one of the best in the region.
While the price point is high—often exceeding $100—it may not always justify the cost. However, if you can play it at a discounted rate, it’s absolutely worth experiencing.
Great people great course
The whole staff was super friendly, the two guys I was paired up with were great, and the course was in excellent condition. Go play it if you can.
