Bear Creek Golf Club
About
Monroe's Bear Creek Golf Club is situated in the heart of Walton County. It's less than an hour from Atlanta, making it a conveniently close getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. The course originally opened in 1990 but in 2008 it changed ownership and underwent a major renovation that elevated its conditions to rival that of any of the area's best golf courses. The bunkers were rebuilt and re-sanded and the fairways were re-conditioned. Bear Creek G.C. has always been known for its excellent greens, which have a reputation for being some of the state's finest putting surfaces. The layout measures 6,585 yards from the back tees, which may seem short but there are some ups and downs throughout that will make it feel much longer.

Decent course. Needs some updates
Overall, we had a good time. We got put behind a tournament and ended up being almost 30 minutes behind our original tee time. It’s not a terribly challenging course however, the cart paths are in horrible shape; like, hold onto your drinks and phone horrible. I played a couple months ago and the pins haven’t moved. The lips around several of the cups are in rough shape. Our round took over 5 hours due to the tournament playing in front of us the front 9. Timing was definitely off…from putts to tee off, we sometimes waited 20 minutes. We’ll go back just not likely the rest of this season.
Poor course management
Quit playing after 11 holes and three and a half hours. Almost every holes backed up with three groups. No one managing the pace of play.
They spent a fortune on new golf carts but the cart path itself is beyond repair.
Many improvements
I’m impressed with the new owner. New carts, greens look amazing and staffs very accommodating.
Good course
The staff was very friendly and accommodating! The course was fun and challenging!
An Overall Headache
Tee times 5 mins apart. Course was packed so we didn’t expect a quick round. Carts have tablets to not allow driving designated areas- but would shut down the cart while on the cart path multiple times. Holes feel crammed together. Waiting for one shared tee box with a group on another box teeing off directly over our heads. No starter or Marshall on a Saturday. There was a group in front playing with a bucket of range balls and leaving them all over the fairways and greens making it next to impossible to tell which ball was our tee or approach shot before sifting through the discarded range balls.
Will not be back- at least not for a long time. Was disappointed.
Water please
Tee boxes are terrible. Chopped up and super uneven. Plus no water cooler or beverage cart. 9 to 10 not at the clubhouse so no easy way to get food or a drink. Back 9 must have new layout because a lot of strange holes 5 hour round on short course. Can’t recommend
Good value
Able to play with rain during that time. They’ve done some good work to course. Good condition.
Cart & Cart Path
I played here last year and the cart path is still horrible!
Just like last year, waited for a for a golf cart as they were "short" because the carts are trash!
When the young gentlemen pulled up, I should have said I want a different cart - it sounded horrible and my instinct was correct as the cart dies in the middle of #10. Also, there was a dead cart already on #1.
3 star
Decent if in a pinch. Better conditions/options for same price range around the area. Also keep in mind for Dads out there, they charged 25$ for my kid to ride along with me even though we only had a 3some using 2 carts.
Ok course for the money
Liked most of the holes, pace of pay was not bad, and the staff was nice. On the downside, a good portion of the cart path was very rough and there was not enough signage. No hole marker to find the 13th tee and we never did find hole #16. It seems like it would be fairly inexpensive to have better signage.
Never Again
It’s like playing Pine Hills in winder but double the price. They have a beverage cart but the last two time playing I only saw it after the 14th hole. Don’t waste your time or money.
Unfriendly staff….profiling?
The older gentleman was very rude and spoke to my party of four like we were children. One person in my party said this was always the encounter when he is behind the counter. His facial expression was one of tell us we were in the place not knowing one of the members was in our foursome.
Bumpy road
While the greens were for the most part in good shape, the cart paths were a mix of dirt, asphalt and pot holes. Mostly pot holes and washed out paths. Some of the holes were just dumb. Course layout was a mess. No grass. Do not recommend.
Great course rough cart paths
Golf course was in great shape and I loved the layout but holy cow those cart paths are in shambles. That being my only complaint though id definitely come back
