Bear Creek Golf Club
About
Monroe's Bear Creek Golf Club is situated in the heart of Walton County. It's less than an hour from Atlanta, making it a conveniently close getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. The course originally opened in 1990 but in 2008 it changed ownership and underwent a major renovation that elevated its conditions to rival that of any of the area's best golf courses. The bunkers were rebuilt and re-sanded and the fairways were re-conditioned. Bear Creek G.C. has always been known for its excellent greens, which have a reputation for being some of the state's finest putting surfaces. The layout measures 6,585 yards from the back tees, which may seem short but there are some ups and downs throughout that will make it feel much longer.

Golfer Reviews
Best greens I’ve seen this year!!!
Awesome track, challenging and well maintained!! Great value!
Fun course, terrible pace
The course itself is nice enough and well maintained. The starter is awful on the weekends. Tee times get stacked up and you always start atleast 45 minutes behind on the weekend. Its a great course for the money during the week.
GolfNow blamed for 5 minute separation of Tee times!!!
Poor Starter catching crap because GolfNow setting Tee times 5 minutes apart!! Is that true? Or a money grab from Bears? Running at least 30 minutes behind!! Not a good look!!
No thank you!
-Condition of the tee boxes were awful.
-Middle of the fairway and your cart is in a disabled zone?
Literally...middle of the fairway with no tee boxes in sight.
-Staff was pleasant enough.
-Bunkers weren't bad.
Great course, great price
If you have not played this course in the last two years, you need to play it asap. Fairways and greens are in great shape and the rough is true rough. You could walk over your ball and not see it. For the price you can’t beat this place right now.
Not Worth the Green Fees
I was thoroughly disappointed with the condition on this course. The greens needed some attention, the rough was overgrown and not maintained, and the tee boxes are very poor shape. Hole identification throughout the course was confusing, making navigation difficult. Additionally, the cart geofencing needs to be fixed. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I do not plan to play this course again.
Tee Times Are A Joke, 6 hour rounds
Showed up for a Saturday morning tee time about 15 minutes early. Check in with starter and ask if we’re the next group going off. He responds, “No, we’ve got our regular Saturday morning men’s group in front of you. Not sure how many it will be today, but it’s usually 20 guys.” Yes, we (and everyone else with a tee time for the next 45 minutes) sat there and watched 5 groups, seemingly without tee times, go off in front of us. There are other reviews about delayed starts, but I didn’t take them seriously because what other course would actually do this? Besides waiting 45 minutes past our booked tee time to start, course is in decent shape. But there are plenty of better options that don’t require a six-plus hour round just so regulars don’t have to be bothered with booking tee times.
Delays
Our tee time was 9:50 we finished at 3:30 cause they had tee times stacked on top of each other the course is in great shape for the most part
Cart paths are terrible
Good Day of Golf
The good- pace of play, new carts, overall course in good shape, lady at desk really nice. The concerns- rough is really penal for the average golfer, even can lose balls in it, grass so thick & grass cuttings not blown away creates difficult shots, cart paths need repair, need water coolers. Will play again but not at the regular rates
45 minutes late to start
9:30 TTime on a Saturday morning and we did not start until 10:20. We were told they booked times every 5 minutes. The pace of play was so slow my group only played 9 holes then went home. $75 waste.
charged for rainout
drove to site, pouring rain, tried to cancel round no refund
Decent course. Needs some updates
Overall, we had a good time. We got put behind a tournament and ended up being almost 30 minutes behind our original tee time. It’s not a terribly challenging course however, the cart paths are in horrible shape; like, hold onto your drinks and phone horrible. I played a couple months ago and the pins haven’t moved. The lips around several of the cups are in rough shape. Our round took over 5 hours due to the tournament playing in front of us the front 9. Timing was definitely off…from putts to tee off, we sometimes waited 20 minutes. We’ll go back just not likely the rest of this season.
Poor course management
Quit playing after 11 holes and three and a half hours. Almost every holes backed up with three groups. No one managing the pace of play.
They spent a fortune on new golf carts but the cart path itself is beyond repair.
