Crook is a real test

Members and staff were helpful and friendly.

The first hole seems quite tame but it begins after that.

The course was dry which means the slopes and roll of the ball make this a real test. Add in the breeze and it all comes together.

Putting is also tested as all of us found the greens tricky to read.

On a sunny day the views are stunning and a good diversion if the golf isn’t going too well.

Decent course, poorly organised.

Reserved buggies as we knew it was a hilly course and was told on the phone to pay on arrival. Arrived to a full car park and pro shop closed. Went upstairs to members bar to be quickly dismissed and told there were no buggies despite the fact we had reserved them. None of us had brought a trolley due to believing we had buggies. Went to tee box and children from a christening were running around on the practice green and asking us for balls clubs and almost walking in front of our tee shots. Not a parent or member of staff in site. Course was well maintained and greens were fast but not receptive.

Decent course

I had to give staff friendliness a 3* because I never saw anyone in the 15 minutes I stood at the bar to book in.

They had an event on that night and the room was set out for the function, but nobody was behind the bar and the members just looked at me stood there, one fella came behind the bar to pull a pint of lager and never even spoke to me.

Overall the course was spot on and the wasted 15 minutes wasn’t too much of a problem because the weather and course conditions made up for it. Lol

Really good but no-one there

It was a good afternoon out. Course is good and weather was perfect. Only issue was that there was no-one in the club shop or clubhouse to give us a scorecard or to book us in!

Always a pleasure to play this course. The terrain is typical for the area, but that add to the challenge.

Perfect weather

Excellent value, stunning views, great course

The course was presented immaculately. The fairways were challenging, as you can imagine, after 5 months of very little rainfall. The greens and fringes were perfect, possibly the best I have seen during this summer on any other course. Crook is challenging, but if you are fit and can hit the ball reasonably straight, you will love the course. It is not particularly long, but it has a lot of terrain changes. Some excellent holes, I loved the 7th and 10, both Par 3 of different lengths. If you love Golf, you must play Crook; you either play well and love it, or you blame everything else on the golf course.

Proper Golf Course

Difficult your first time round. Once you kind of know the layout you will know how the ball behaves on those banks

Greens are faultless in my opinion

Lovely course

This is the second time I have been able to play this course, and my initial impressions haven't changed. It's a lovely hidden gem of a course. The layout is both interesting and varied, and the condition extremely good considering the hot weather we've had recently.

The fairways, although a little burnt, are very playable, if a bit tricky.

The greens were superb, and importantly really consistant.

I'm looking forward to having another round again very soon 🙂

A hidden gem

This was the first time I've played this course and it won't be the last.

The course layout is fantastic, although I'll have to play it a few more times to get a better knowledge of the blind shots it demands.

The greens were an absolute joy, with a great variety but their pace very consistant.

The fairways were pretty good, but very tricky to hold, although this is just a design of the layout to increase the difficulty.

All in all this is gem of a course that I'll be back to play again.
