A hidden gem

A good test for your average golfer but forgiving enough for a beginner.

Friendly staff that showed us around the course (my first visit) and allowed us to tee off early in a gap.

Some great views of Tyne & Wear along the course.

Definitely give this one a visit 👍🏻

Nice course with significant potential

The course was in average condition for our round with greens, bunkers and intermediate rough all in need of some minor remedial attention to bring the course up to full summer season standard. Not sure on what planet a group of members (playing as a 5 ball) think jumping across from the 5th onto the 13th isn't going to annoy other players but that's something for the club to address as they see fit. The course has some cracking coastal views to the North and South from the upper tier - if ever it is re-modelled a new club house at the South East end of the course accessed from Lizard Lane would make it one of the most scenic in the UK.

Windy but dry

Course in great condition for Time of year. Greens consistent and fair. Bunkers difficult and some need more sand, otherwise all good.

not as good as it was

played many times before and its not to the usual high standards...paths look messy, greens were poor and looked patchy...roll was bumpy on 80% of the greens. looks like the whole course needs a good watering. although the green keeper did water the 15th tee box and waterlogged it just before playing the hole, would this not be better to do first thing or last thing at night.

would play again if it was on a hot deal but not for £31

Golf planning

Hi the issue for me is the fact that the booking of tee times needs looking at to many consecutive 4 ball and 3 ball one after the other instead of placing 1 or 2 ball in there and rejecting the tee time asked for as it just slows the whole course down to a stand still.

Lovely course

Played at Whitburn a few times and always looked over the wall and thought we should play there. I wasn't disappointed, course is in great condition and the greens were lightening fast for this time of the year. Bit windy but you can't control the weather all in all had a great time on a lovely course and would love to come back.

First time playing south shields and it didn't disappoint. Course conditions were very good. The wind was wild but didn't dishearten. A nice atmosphere in the clubhouse, and a lovely pint of Guinness to finish off the round. Looking forward to returning for another round.

Amazing views

Beautiful setting, sea views from Whitley Bay to Hartlepool! The course was well maintained. Bunkers were tricky being steep and fairly dense. Weather was lovely but as it's exposed I'm sure the wind normally blows which would transform the challenge. Open fairways and nice undulation lead to good scoring. Clubhouse is very nice with a better than expected menu. Will definitely go again

Some challenges and varied course. Fast greens and fairly wide fairways. A few ‘dog legs’. Very friendly members. Excellent value for money.
