Great course

Ideal for my 13yr old son and I, we are relatively new to golf. So we thought it was good, excellent views and wide fairways are perfect for us

Poor condition

We love Whitburn and have played it many times. I rang the course the day before playing and was told that the course was in a better condition than was expected. However on arrival the fairways were horrendous and the greens were almost unplayable. I know the weather has been bad but I’d rather they’d told me that the course wasn’t in a great condition. We only paid £18 for the round but if I’d known how poor the conditions were I wouldn’t have played. When we came off there was a sign saying the course wasn’t closed and the pro shop was locked up. However Whitburn is a great course and I can’t to be too harsh because of one round in the winter. We will play again and can definitely recommend it but maybe not this time of year

Decent value but

But not all holes open. Not a problem if made aware beforehand. Green keepers need to get up earlier. One hole closed while hollow tining . Then annoying when they open it when I’ve bypassed.

Good value

Considering the recent rain the course had no standing water on it. Layout for visitors is always a little confusing, better signage and distance markers would help. Work being carried out on last 4 holes was not mentioned at all by the pro .

A lovely local course!

From the moment we arrived, the staff at check-in were incredibly friendly and welcoming, setting a great tone for the day. The course itself was in excellent condition — fairways well kept and the greens beautifully maintained, offering a smooth and consistent roll throughout the round.

The par 3 holes were particularly enjoyable, with decent yardages that provided a fair challenge without being overly punishing. The weather was on our side too, which definitely added to the experience.

Pace of play was spot on — no long waits and everything flowed nicely. The only drawback was the layout of a few holes that cross paths, which meant we had to pause and wait to tee off at times for safety. It didn’t ruin the round, but it’s something to be mindful of.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the signature par 3 hole perched atop a hill. The views from the tee box were absolutely stunning, and the hole itself was a joy to play — a perfect blend of beauty and challenge.

Overall, a great day out on a well-maintained course with friendly staff and memorable moments. Would definitely recommend!

Year round playing course - always in immaculate condition with amazing greens - plenty of scoring holes and very forgiving but easy to ruin your score.

Course is great. Weather wasn’t!

I’ve only played a few courses around this area but this is one of the better ones. Right on the coast with the last few holes spitting distance from the sea.
