George Washington Golf Club

Played on a Wednesday morning. Course was busy but pace of play was good. I was playing solo and got waved through by most groups in good time.

Not a challenging course - wide open fairways and only light rough.

Greens were slow although they looked in very good condition - probably left longer than usual to protect from frost.

Easy layout to follow. A curious mix of connecting paths - some astroturfing, some rough stone, some grassed.

Very friendly welcome in the clubhouse.

Booked on the day and managed to get a tee off time that suited the two of us. Got to the course on time but had a bit of a wait to tee off due to a number of 4 ball groups teeing off before us. We were invited to play through and managed to finish in a little under 2 hours. Course is well laid out with mostly wide fairway that suited our ability. The course is relatively flat with trees lining just about every hole.

My only criticism would be the flags. They were dark blue and were difficult to see.

Overall, we’ll be back.

Good ranges of skill levels, something for everyone, well maintained, good location, good value

Having played here quite a lot over the last 6 weeks, lately thought the pace of play has become something of a frustration. There is a bit of a reluctance by 4 balls to let single players/smaller groups through. The course wasn’t busy. The 3 ball in front of me became a 4 ball as the 2 groups of Ladies who were ahead of a single player wouldn’t let him through. They had the course backed up. Pretty much every Tee box there were 2 sometimes 3 groups waiting to Tee off. Not the first time this has happened. Understand if the course is busy but it was a Monday morning. It’s a shame as the course is well looked after and generally I like playing there.

Not happy that when we arrived we were told that it was winter tees on all holes. £47 for winter tees is not acceptable. Yes we were told by staff before we tee off but that did not help as we had no other course to change to in time.

As I got to the first tee the horns were sounded for the course to shut as thunder and lightning was just starting. Hopefully the club will be able to to re arrange the tee or offer a refund

very good course, friendly players not rushed. kind staff. slow players infront ruined it however not clubs fault.

Nice course, just does’nt drain water very well. Living in Washington it’s quite well known the course doesn’t do rain very well and it does put some off playing it. Few soggy greens and tee boxes which is a shame as in general the course is well looked after. The fairways were like carpets and the greens that weren’t wet were in great condition. I would definitely play it again though.

As someone who travels for work, this was a little gem of a find. I have stayed in Washington 10’s of times for work.

This course, was a far better way to spend the evening. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, the course layout was good and very well looked after. I will be back to play for sure.

Members were all very pleasant and welcoming too. I would recommend this as a good way to spend some spare time.

Got stuck behind a stag do, they started playing in an eight ball.

One dressed as Ali g . Wasn’t even playing just had a trolley with three slabs of ale on,hilarious but just let lads through .

Informed clubhouse nothing happened.
