Holding up well for January
Great course with friendly staff and members, Green keeper's have it in great condition for this time of year all greens in play.. Food top notch, nice welcoming club house. Well recommend a visit
Never worth the green fees today
Have used the driving range here dozens of times and always wondered what it was like to play.
After today I was disappointed somewhat.
Tee to green was great with some real careful play required.
The greens unfortunately were shocking!
They have clearly been recently tined or airated and not quite recovered and we were not notified of this and putting was extremely difficult and spoilt our round quite frankly.
There was far too many unrepaired pitch marks too for such a supposedly nice golf club!
Also the bunkers were wet and unplayable and we weren’t notified if they were GUR beforehand but they should’ve been.
Very generous fairways
First visit and enjoyed the wide and generous fairways and greens in great condition (for October). Following heavy rain the fairways were very soft and some bunkers were waterlogged. Overall a great course for either high handicappers or big hitters who will love the wide fairways making for some target golf. Pace of play was excellent and allowed to play through immediately by both groups we encountered (thank you). Off course facilities and club shop were great. Decent value at £16.00 for the round.
On temporary greens, not sure why.
I wasn’t made aware that the course was on temporary greens when booking. All the course was in good condition, it was dry and warm and had been for some time. I would have enjoyed playing the main greens but flags stuck in the middle of a very hard fairway spoilt it for me, it also made the course play very short as the temps were 50yards short of the actual greens on every hole. Walked off after 9. Does have a nice practice area and driving range attached.
George Washington Golf Course
Course was in excellent condition
It was a pleasure to play
Enjoyable round
Had a great game here and the course is in great condition. The green were very good the tees were huge. The only downside was there was no food available at the clubhouse. With this being a hotel I would have thought this wouldn't be an issue. Nevertheless, it was a great day.
Course in good condition
Course was in good condition only problem was the greens which were very well maintained but appear to be 2 paced
Fantastic
One of the best course's I've played on for some time
Nice course
This course has well manacured greens and fairways. Had a great day
George Washington
Decent course, good nick decent hot deal £13 each, would play it again, play a little slow though 3hrs 45 for a two ball
I was informed that they had a very bad downpour the night before and the course was boggy, the greens were changing to wintertime, although i had a good game found that the majority of holes were waterlogged and boggy to a point where i wished i had not bothered.the course on certain holes were poorly signposted as a first time visitor found this frustrating as i did not know the layout of the course. On a more positive note the matureness of the course was absolutely magnificent but i have given my views based on my actual game
Would reccomend playing on dry days in the summertime.

Greens in great nick!
A course we've played throughout the year but now showing itself in its best light. Greens were extremely firm, making some approach shots a real challenge (11th hole where green slopes away from you).
What I love about the course is that every hole is different and you never feel you see other groups, despite it being busy.
First time I've returned to GW in about 8 years.
First thing I noticed was that even though the course is really well established, the trees were so much more mature and established, enough on a couple of holes to make the drive seem somewhat intimidating (especially the 17th, which played into the wind on Sunday)
Wide fairways otherwise and plenty of margin for error, just unfortunate that my group of 3 seemed to like playing from the rough, we were in it so often from the tee (I made the fairway on only 4 of my 14 Par 4/5 drives)
Large greens that were soft but firm that rewarded attacking shots into them.
I definitely won't leave it as long till I return.
Fair but you need accuracy of the tee
A lovely course with a decent variety of holes. Course was in very good condition. Greens were lovely, pretty quick and most had slopes. Opportunity to three put on many greens. No water on the course to speak of. Some of the bunkers could have done with some more sand in them. One key point here is that although many of the part 4s and 5s had winder then average fairways, any wayward tee shot was punished severely as there are dense threes on both sides of many of the fairways. However would recommend anyone to try this course out in dry weather as it can get quite soggy apparently at times. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to try the clubhouse/food/drinks as I had to dash of to another game later that day.
Very enjoyable afternoon
I hadn't played this course in over 20 years, and it was great to be back. The course has matured well, and was in very good condition.
Good course not so friendly members
Everything about the round was spot on apart from the 4 members in front of us holding things up on every hole. One of the lads playing left on the 9th due to their slow play. We were on the 10th tee box waiting as they teed off and despite the 3 of us continuing on in buggies they never offered to let us go through. Asked them if we could go through on the 13th and got a nasty reaction
Stopped playing this course a few yrs back due to poor conditions and overly priced however I was very impressed with current course conditions especially the greens. Also got a good price via TeeOffTimes
