Greens was absolutely shocking not worth £30
Once again great round
We teed off at 12:12 on a Saturday, so expectedly the course was quite busy and we were paired up with two other golfers. Luckily, they were great company and made the round even more enjoyable.
We had a really good mix of golf throughout the day—some great shots and a few not so great—but that’s all part of it. Despite the course being busy, the pace of play was much better than expected. There was a short wait on the first tee and maybe one or two other holes, but nothing that slowed things down too much.
Overall, it was a great day out. Good company, decent pace, and an enjoyable round of golf.
Charging £50 to play on a course with terrible winter greens on nearly every hole. Playing off cuttings of mats in ground that was chopped up and uncared for. The placement of tee off mats were not thought through as most were on laid on uneven ground a shambles in fairness.
Great course
I play this course every now and then and it’s always a great, enjoyable experience. The layout is excellent, with a mix of testing shots and forgiving tee boxes thanks to the open fairways, but it still provides a really good challenge. It’s the kind of course that keeps you thinking while still being fun to play.
The course is consistently kept in fantastic condition. Even through the winter it’s maintained to a very high standard, and while there are a couple of winter greens at times, that’s completely expected for the season.
On the day we played there had been endless rain, so a few areas were slightly flooded, but that’s obviously no reflection on the course management at all. In fact, we played the same time the week before and the course was in absolutely perfect condition.
Overall, this is easily a 5-star course for me. The quality of the layout, the condition of the course, and the overall experience make it a place I always look forward to coming back to.

Heworth
The course, considering the time of year, was immaculate. The greens were firm and very well maintained. Still no winter greens, not sure if they’ll be included soon, but all greens were playable.
The practice facilities ahead of your round were ample with a little range, chipping area, putting green and nets available.
I would recommend this course, members were friendly as were the staff in the shop
Good greens and fairways
Very slow game due to 4 balls in front who were painfully slow. Course in very good condition
In really good condition with all the dry weather we’ve had. Greens, tee boxes and areas surrounding the greens were pristine
Lovely sunny afternoon
Glorious day - warm, sunny, no wind. Course in great condition and greens running true. Staff in the pro shop friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed my round. No hesitation in recommending and I’ll certainly be back.
Friendly staff.
Nice friendly atmosphere. Ground staff are very polite, friendly and considerate.
course in good condition but pace of play slow
Positives: course currently well maintained and in good condition with good practice & club house facilities and easy access off the A1 and A19 motorways. Negatives: pace of play wasn't very impressive (4 hours+) with some confusion concerning players teeing off very late on the 1st (including one group of members which we understand hadn't booked a tee reservation) - also the Eastern part of the course is very close to the A194 motorway which tends to be quite noisy due to increasingly heavy traffic. All things considered the £30 green fee feels a little excessive - £20 would probably be nearer the mark (as it used to be not so long ago). Some noise attenuation fencing along the eastern perimeter would probably be highly beneficial for the future of the club if funds permit.
Great course
Most enjoyable round of golf. Played here once before in very wet conditions. What a difference - course in great condition. Some long par 4s and challenging par 3s. Staff and members very friendly and welcoming. Had a great afternoon / early evening. Happily recommend.
Good course but slow play
Course was in good condition during our visit with the exception of a few greens which are obviously still recovering from winter with some sand & seed patching in place. For anyone that hasn't played Heworth before it's nice and flat which is a refreshing break from some of the quite hilly courses elsewhere. Biggest frustration for us was pace of play which was poor from beginning to end - there is a huge digital clock on the side of the club house next to the 1st tee box and yet members still managed to tee off late resulting in our group and several others being backed up the whole way round the course with one group actually bailing out at the half way mark due to sheer frustration - sadly we have experienced similar before at Heworth hence it's not a "one off" event - it's probably the most pressing issue that the club needs to address to improve the visitor experience.
Well placed bunkers
Decent course not massively difficult, but with some wind makes it an even better course to play ,well placed bunkers ,fast greens & tidy fairways,
Decent warm up area around the back, great shop & a nice pint afterwards. Will be back .
