Cottonwood Golf Club - Ivanhoe Course

While the greens and tee boxes were in generally good shape, the fairways were completely bone dry. I'm talking brown and dead, with several fairways basically hard pan dirt. While I enjoyed the extended roll out on drives, there really wasn't much grass to speak of in the fairways, so less than ideal. I didn't pay much for the round, but I'm still not sure I would return unless it was two weeks after a good, hard rain.

Besides the greens, this course is in horrible condition. Most tees are poor and the fairways are not only brown, but also terribly bumpy. The poor golf carts take a real beating, with all of the bumps. The clubhouse is quite underwhelming. The staff is great!

Long course which should be great if maintenance was there. Having said that, today’s it has very bad yellow or dirt fairways

It used to be a good course to play but they have definitely given up on it.

The only grass on the course was the greens and Tee box (if you’d call it that). Group ahead of me, on a Saturday, was a foursome playing out of two bags. At hole 15 I called it a day after being out there for 4.5 hours at that point. One good thing the course had going for it was the cart girl. Never seen one so many times in a round.

If you don’t mind playing in dirt and “grass” that resembles “Top Ramen Noodles”, at least a 5 hour round, drunk guys blaring music at every hole, and gopher holes ruining the cart path, this place is for you.

Yes, well fairways need grass or water damage some of my head clubs ground to ruff. Overall pretty good round of golf

.....all right, got out early to beat the heat, a little rough in places, but summertime you know.....greens were good, sank a couple o snakes.....a fun course, and way below $100 so i guess today that makes it a deal........

Course is in rough shape. Sections of fairways that are just dirt. Little improvement since really bad in May. Starter is one grumpy dude. Seems angry every time we play and he is working.

I have golfed here for many years. Not sure why they are not watering any longer? (too expensive maybe) looks like a dead desert course. No drinking fountains on a hot day and no ambassador bringing water to customers. The Marshall did nothing for slow play. very frustrating when you see multiple hole openings. I guess you get what you paid for. Chula Vista actually looks better at this time.

Course is not championship by any means but great enough and beautiful nestled away from the city but not too far a drive for basically the lowest price in San Diego county for full size 72 par. Greens good condition and fairways during summer of course not great but still for everyday golfers looking for a good course for cheap these days cottonwood is the place to go!

The course is terrible condition. Green are ok fairways are terrible.

Made a tee time on line showed up and was told it was 5.00 more then what the internet shows they said they are trying to fix it Not that hard to update pricing But after I got out on the course they should have given me a 50.00 refund not a 5.00 upcharge The course is is terrible condition Died fairways, No sand in the bunkers The greens were not terrible but they were bad.

I can not believe these guys are charging 72.00 to play a dead course How about charging 82.00 per player and water the fairways I know sand is expensive so maybe fill those rock pit with grass The one good thing about Cottonwood is the food is pretty good.

My suggestion is to reopen the Lakes and make it a pristine course were you can charge 120-150.00 for a round and then turn the other course into a beginners course and charge 40-50.00

Traveled from AZ to play here. The website made the course look flush it was the complete opposite. Uneven tee boxes were abundant. Extremely bumpy cart “paths” really it was just dirt. Fairways were dried out completely. Just hard dirt. The grass that was there was awful had to of been 10 different kinds weeds mostly. Practice area is abysmal but chipping / putting green is ok. Staff were not friendly. The starter was strangely confused how to put out a single as if he’s never done it before. I eventually was put together with some nice gentlemen. Pace of play was disgusting. Literally a 5.5 hour round. The entire place clubhouse to course looks and feels like it hasn’t been taken care of since like 1995. The one and only thing that was acceptable were the greens. Obviously their entire budget went to making them pretty good, but I spent $75 for a badly kept track. Don’t recommend playing unless you are a beginner looking to drink and not care about the golf.

Staff was great, course was not. Unless you enjoy playing on dirt and trying to find your ball amongst the hundreds of gopher holes, don't play this course. We will never play a round here again. Highly disappointed.
