The Frog is in good shape
I've played the frog a couple of times and this spring the course is in good shape. Greens have always been really soft when I play, but now they were rolling decently and were in nice condition. Teeboxes need work, but that is common in many public courses. The layout is always fun and not too difficult. I hope the good conditions will remain through the season.
The only weakness I have experienced every time playing the frog, is the pace of play. Based on my experience, the course has a tendency of stacking up on the back nine and I would like to see a marshall monitoring that there are no empty holes between groups.
Friday at the Frog
We enjoyed our recent round at the Frog.. Our foursome had each played it before, though not in 10 years at least. The course conditions were really good despite rain the day or two before. We moved around the course with no one in front of pushing us from behind and finished in less than 4.5 hrs. The greens were soft, but the ball rolled well. My only issue were the green side bunkers. All of us had a tough time getting out of them, but that just may because of our skill level. It's a long drive, but worth it. We'll be back.
Birdies out there
Not easy but very fair course. Lots of birdies out there to be made. Great Fazio design. I truly love this layout.
The Frog is really good course/deal and getting better every time we play it.
Enjoy playing here; always do on a Fazio track!! Kudos to the staff working to get it back to its glory days condition. My only complaint is pace of play. The Marshall was doing his job but his admonitions to the group ahead of us were forgotten after 1 hole. Add to this the group behind us kept hitting into us including one instance when we were on the next hole tee box. We couldn't go any faster than the group ahead of us. I becoming convinced that an increasing number of people on the golf course these days leave their sense of safety, courtesy & common sense in the parking lot!!!
Play the Frog!
The Frog did not disappoint. It started out with a friendly and helpful staff and finished strongly with a great course. The course was set up for a ball striker and needing to place your tee shots on the correct side of the fairway. No bombers here. The greens were in excellent conditions and the only negative are a few places in the fairways and some tee boxes that needed some work. Other than that, the Frog was definitely worth the drive and the money.
Enjoyable challenge but not what it used to be
It’s been a few years since I last played here, and unfortunately the course seems to have lost a step. The layout still offers an enjoyable and challenging round, but the overall conditions raise some concerns. A couple of greens on the back nine showed noticeable wear, with unrepaired divots and even signs of mower damage. Several bunkers also appeared neglected, with nature starting to take over.
I’ll likely return, but it no longer stands out compared to other courses in the area like it once did.
Getting There
The 2 star Pace of Play was crappy other players. One appeared to be teaching another. Held up quiet a few groups behind them. The work they have been doing is apparent. It was still a fun course to play and I'll come back but next year this course should be prime as it was when it first opened.
Great course
The Frog is in great shape and the staff are always friendly. Top notch all the way.
Absolutely Brutal Pace of Play and Disappointing Course Conditions
We played The Frog at Georgian on 4/11 with a 3:30 PM tee time, and honestly, I wish we had chosen somewhere else.
From the very first hole, it was clear this round was going to be a problem. We gave the group ahead of us the entire hole, waiting until they had completely left the green before we even teed off, and there was no one behind us pushing us. Even with that, we still caught them by the second hole. That set the tone for the entire day.
The pace of play was completely unacceptable. The front 9 took from 3:30 PM to 5:55 PM, and the back 9 took from 5:55 PM to 8:20 PM. That is nearly five hours for a round, and it made for a miserable experience. There was no ranger in sight doing anything to manage pace of play. At one point, it was obvious the bottleneck was caused by a group several holes ahead, with a full hole open in front of them, yet nothing was being done. We also saw at least two groups with 5 and even 6 golfers, which only made things worse.
On top of the terrible pace, the course conditions were not impressive. The bunkers were not well maintained, and rakes were hard to find. We saw members walk through bunkers and not rake or repair them. The greens also had numerous unrepaired ball marks, which shows either a lack of player respect, lack of course oversight, or both.
What makes this even more frustrating is that this was not our first bad experience here. We played here about a month ago and had similar pace-of-play issues then too. After giving it another chance, nothing has changed.
This was a truly unenjoyable round of golf, and we will not be returning. There are too many other courses out there to spend this kind of money and time dealing with a slow, poorly managed round. Play somewhere else if you can.
Frog
Frog is really coming around despite no rain. Greens rolling good, even though they were punched last month. Bunkers in better shape as well.
The Frog is back!
So glad to see the course in great shape! I talked to the new manager out there and he said they are making a lot of changes to make it better than it ever was! Thanks Terry! Aries all day!
Getting back to former glory!
The course is turning back around after being in bad shape last year. The new management has done a good job in bringing course conditions back. Fairways looked good, greens were just t a week or two away from being perfect, they had little bit of sand left, tee boxes look good, sand bunkers were mixed. The signature sand bunker needs to be brought back, it still has overgrown grass and without any sand. Layout is beautiful as always. It was joy to be back and see the course returning to a championship course as it had been.
Pace of play was slow and I forgot how far the course was. But worth the drive.
Worth it
This was a long drive from where I live but it was well worth it! Staff was friendly, the golf carts were clean and ran well. The course is awesome. Very well maintained and I think it will be even better when the grass grows in.
Great layout
Very nice course. Lots of different shots required. Some diabolical pin placements for our round but I’d play there again
