Fairfield Plantation Golf & Country Club

A serene and quiet community w/the locals driving their juniors to Saturday golf lessons in their personal carts. I contemplated playing this course during the Juneteenth holiday weekend, but was scouting it for a future group outing with players from all over expected to embark and participate. The course was/ is in great shape from tee box to hole, and the staff being as courteous and friendly instilled my faith in the inclusion of the game as represented by the USGA .Even with a " Saturday shotgun scramble" tournament in progress, the Marshall was extremely considerate when asking that our formed foursome start @10th after preparing to tee off from #1 only to go back to #1. Almost unreal how after the tournament group in front of us finished their last couple of holes early in the round , it was almost no one else on the course. This made for one of most relaxed " holiday weekend " rounds ever experienced! Two locals that we played with said it's pretty much like this whenever they play....Definitely will be back before " summers end"!

This is a very nice course. Challenging as it has a lot of doglegs. You need to be long enough to reach the corner and you need to put it on the right side of the fairway to have a good chance for your second.

A few cons.

* Bunkers were hard as a rock, it needed to be tilled. Even a half decent bunker player would gripe about these conditions.

* Parking brake pedal on the carts needs to be fixed. It's those carts that have a little pedal in the corner of the brake to set the parking brake. My group had issues with those pedals, difficult to set. It becomes a real issue when the ground or cart path is not flat. It's a problem for any course that uses carts with this type of parking mechanism. No course should use these types of carts. There are carts with much better parking brake mechanisms available, especially the ones that set themselves once the cart stops moving. Every cart should use those.

I would still play this course again but I would say come up with your own bunker rule when you are playing with a buddy and the sand is hard as a rock. If you are paired up with others then they can follow their own rules if they want. Your round shouldn't suffer with conditions like that.

They have really put the work into this course.. it’s incredible.. greens are great, so are tee boxes and fairways

Played a round of golf at Fairfield this past weekend. Course conditions were great, though I was a little miffed that 4 holes were cart path only, as dry as it was. The tee times were backed up a little due to a seniors tournament that was going on that day. We teed off about 10-15 minutes after our time. Pace seemed to pick up once we were out on the course, however, we were stacked up once again as we made the turn (there were 4 groups on #10 at that time). I understand weekend golf can get a little crowded, but maybe they need to space their tee times out a little more. The fairways were in decent condition, and the tee boxes were pretty rough (not usually concerned with tee box conditon). The greens were in good shape, playing pretty quick and responding to breaks pretty consistently. Overall we had a good time at Fairfield, and would recommend this course to others, though for the price, it could be a little better.

My husband and I played this course for the first time. We are members of multiple clubs, and while we understand course maintenance, we have never played a course where the maintenance crew have a full right of way on 6 out of 18 holes. Including two holes where the fertilizer cart went straight down the entirety of the fairway while we were already on the tee box when he started at the green… then, the same fertilizer cart was behind us on the tee box while we were on the tee box and proceeded through the tee box past us and continued down the fairway….? Moreover, we were behind a foursome in which we were at the tee box at the same time they were teeing off for 6 holes in a row without letting us play through. Again, we understand the need for course maintenance but basic golf etiquette was lacking. We did enjoy the time out there and would give it another shot when we’re back in the area. As a plus, the greens were rolling well and receptive.

This is not your uncles old Fairfield. The golf course conditions are much improved and best greens in West Ga

New greenskeeper about 2 years ago and he has done an amazing job. Greens are bentgrass with no weeds and dense growth. Best course in the area.

Fairfield course is in great shape. It's is not a wide open course so it makes you swing with precision. The only thing missing on this course is, you do not get a glimpse of the beautiful 270 acre Lake Tara or the other 2 lakes. under new Superintendent who has made improvements. Try it out this year.

When I called the club they said "We don't know anything about that"

So they kept my $100 and wouldn't let me play. ouch!!!

My son and I enjoyed our first round on this track. There's work on a few tees which should make it real nice in late summer, fall. Bunkers were in good shape and were groomed for upcoming club tourney. Greens were growing in nicely and have a few repair spots but not in play.

Enjoyed playing this course. The fairways and greens were in very good shape. The course layout was very fair. Pace of play was excellent. Finished under four hours. It’s worth the ride from Atlanta.
