Golfer Reviews
Great time
Was hesitant booking based on historical reviews but was very pleased overall. Awesome layout that’s fun and challenging, good conditions (most greens are great, a little slow), and good price. Would definitely play this again.
Great layout
Had never heard of this course - was skeptical from historical reviews, but had a great experience. The layout is super fun and challenging. Greens are in similar conditions to many courses around the area - good overall, a little slow with a few patches but overall good. Would play again.
Good course - some improvement needed
My only complaint is the greens. Lots of bare spots and lots of invasive wide blade grass/weed - looks similar to nut-grass to me. If the greens were better then the course would be great! Pretty difficult course, so its a challenge.
Good and not so good
Waited 30 minutes past the tee time to start due to a tournament ahead of us. No Marshall. Wouldn’t have expected a tournament on Labor Day nor did they mention it. Course layout was really nice but the greens were weedy, bumpy and ball marks all over. It’a a decent course to play if there’s a deal
Course Review
This is a great course and I enjoy playing it. It offers somewhat easy holes and some very difficult ones as well. During spring and summer the greens were the best around my area by far. However summer has been hard on the course and the greens are beginning to show wear from all the play and Georgia heat. I have no doubt that they will get them back in shape making it again a great value with excellent greens.
Ok conditions
Hardest fairways I’ve played all summer. Disappointed with greens, almost furry and weeds and crap in them. Not rolling very well.
First Impression!
A serene and quiet community w/the locals driving their juniors to Saturday golf lessons in their personal carts. I contemplated playing this course during the Juneteenth holiday weekend, but was scouting it for a future group outing with players from all over expected to embark and participate. The course was/ is in great shape from tee box to hole, and the staff being as courteous and friendly instilled my faith in the inclusion of the game as represented by the USGA .Even with a " Saturday shotgun scramble" tournament in progress, the Marshall was extremely considerate when asking that our formed foursome start @10th after preparing to tee off from #1 only to go back to #1. Almost unreal how after the tournament group in front of us finished their last couple of holes early in the round , it was almost no one else on the course. This made for one of most relaxed " holiday weekend " rounds ever experienced! Two locals that we played with said it's pretty much like this whenever they play....Definitely will be back before " summers end"!
A lot of doglegs
This is a very nice course. Challenging as it has a lot of doglegs. You need to be long enough to reach the corner and you need to put it on the right side of the fairway to have a good chance for your second.
A few cons.
* Bunkers were hard as a rock, it needed to be tilled. Even a half decent bunker player would gripe about these conditions.
* Parking brake pedal on the carts needs to be fixed. It's those carts that have a little pedal in the corner of the brake to set the parking brake. My group had issues with those pedals, difficult to set. It becomes a real issue when the ground or cart path is not flat. It's a problem for any course that uses carts with this type of parking mechanism. No course should use these types of carts. There are carts with much better parking brake mechanisms available, especially the ones that set themselves once the cart stops moving. Every cart should use those.
I would still play this course again but I would say come up with your own bunker rule when you are playing with a buddy and the sand is hard as a rock. If you are paired up with others then they can follow their own rules if they want. Your round shouldn't suffer with conditions like that.
Amazing course
They have really put the work into this course.. it’s incredible.. greens are great, so are tee boxes and fairways
Fairfield Golf
Played a round of golf at Fairfield this past weekend. Course conditions were great, though I was a little miffed that 4 holes were cart path only, as dry as it was. The tee times were backed up a little due to a seniors tournament that was going on that day. We teed off about 10-15 minutes after our time. Pace seemed to pick up once we were out on the course, however, we were stacked up once again as we made the turn (there were 4 groups on #10 at that time). I understand weekend golf can get a little crowded, but maybe they need to space their tee times out a little more. The fairways were in decent condition, and the tee boxes were pretty rough (not usually concerned with tee box conditon). The greens were in good shape, playing pretty quick and responding to breaks pretty consistently. Overall we had a good time at Fairfield, and would recommend this course to others, though for the price, it could be a little better.
