Good course
Nothing special about the course, but nothing really bad about it. Greens were really hard last time I played - if I had any real complaint it would be this and the fact that it seemed like every hole placement was on a slope.
Pace of play decent and course was, overall, in good shape.
Considering other courses and prices, $35 max I would pay to play here.
Excellent layout
Greens were excellent. They were receptive but not soft. Rolled very smooth. I played with a Marshall on his day off and he gave me great advice on several holes that had a deceptive greens. Had some relatively easy holes tied into some good par threes. Couple of par 5 were reachable with solid 2nd shots
Becoming Better Each Year
I have played a great number of Gene Hamm designed courses through out North and South Carolina. I have often played this course since its beginning in 1988, although for me it is a forty-five minute drive from my home. As of this writing Reedy Creek Golf Course is in the best shape I have ever seen or played in the last 26 years. I dare say it is as good as any, and better than some, of Gene's other fine courses (Azalea Sands in Myrtle Beach comes to mind).
The new greens have reached their full potential and are smooth and quick, ran about 10 on the Stimpmeter the day we played. (we played all 18, how can you not play 9 when playing 18?) The tee boxes are looking good and the fairways are spot on for a good lie. The practice putting green is a true indication of the green surfaces throughout the course, be sure to tune up prior to play.
Playing on a Tuesday morning, we had no trouble getting around, no ranger was needed nor was one present. We did allow a single to play through on number three tee, but he had been on the driving range when we started so he had no idea we were only a hole ahead and caught our foursome rather quickly. We played in about four hours, maybe a little less, from the back tees; it was as though we had the course all to ourselves, yet we saw quite a few players throughout the day.
This is a fun track with some nice scenery and a few very challenging holes, a few easy ones but a very fine course for the fees charged. The course is easily accessible from both I-40 and I-95 via NC Route 210. If you are traveling through NC toward the coast or down to Myrtle Beach, Reedy Creek is a good course to step off the gas and enjoy a round of golf in the countryside of North Carolina.
Good bang for the buck
Played early so it dried up as we went along. It was my first time and I enjoyed the course. Front was easier and more open than the back. Greens were in pretty good shape as apparently they are new. Ranger was friendly. Recently had a good bit of rain and the course was doing very well for it. Fun layout, I'll definitely go back.
ranger can kiss it!
the last thing i want is to be rushed through a round of golf as long as i am keeping pace. threesome teed off behind us before we got to green and hung close to us the whole front nine. we played front nine in two hours but still was hassled by ranger to speed it up. hassled again on #12 and demanded we let group go through. group passed us and said they had no problem with our pace. not sure what rangers deal was but i didnt appreciate it. too many other courses to play. i will take my money elsewhere
New greens need some time to come in.....
Like the course overall and would play again. However, the new greens are not at the level they will be in a few months. Some still have some places that are a bit rough. They are not rolling well yet. They were left a little fuzzy as is expected when putting in new grass. Rest of course was a little long. Tee boxes were a bit long, grass was long in fairway as well. But, when mowed should be really nice.
Greens are not ready
Outside of greens the course is beautiful. Half of the NEW greens have large areas roped off due to their condition. The course had also been overbooked and no marshal was present to manage the 1st tee box. Would have been nice to know the issue with the greens before booking. I will play this course again once they get control of the NEW greens.
Do not play right now!
I can't believe they are advertising to come play the "new" greens. The greens are awful! Don't waste your money right now.
Didn't know the greens were dead
Nice staff and the course is fun to play but this was the last day they would be open not using temp greens since they are having to redo all of the greens that were dead. The price was ok but would have like to have been aware before I booked.
Great Course - Fix the Greens
Unfortunately the Green at Reeady Creek were horrible. It looks like they lost 50% of the the grass on the green over the winter, so they shaved the greens arreated and then took (grass clippings I think). They put the clippings all over the greens and then rolled them heavily into the green. Some green or areas you need to putt over look and acts like your putting on linoleum or bumpy linoleum .This courses green need a tremendous amount of work so for the serious golfer I would wait about 5 to 6 weeks before plying here again.
Greens need help
I don't know what has happened to the greens, but they need help. They are usually very nice. Not now.
Fun Layout
Course was in pretty good shape for winter. Greens were a little spongy from recent rain. Strong grain in the greens and quicker than they looked. A very fun course for all player levels with some good par 3's from the back tees (6400 yds). Hole # 13 is a beast of a par 4!
Good greens
Greens roll great and are challenging. The grain can greatly influence the break and speed of the putts. Very good value, if it was closer to me I would play here more often.
Great Local Course
Great little track. Played the white tees with my buddies, would like to go back and play the blue tees. Watch out for hole 2. I took a 7!
Surprisingly good!
I didn't have high expectations. I was pleasantly surprised by the conditions and quality of the course.
The greens were the most challenging aspect as many had a lot of tilt/slope. The greens could be devastating if they elected to really cut them low.
The fairways were also in excellent shape.
Very nice course with excellent greens
The course was in great shape. the greens run fast and true. A great value for the money.
NICE LAYOUT ,THE GREENS ROLL TRUE AND FAST.
The course is out in the country pretty course.Shot makers course, the rough is not hard to play out of.Tree lined fairways.Clubhouse has a great chicken salad sandwich.
Great course to play
Course was in very good shape, staff was very friendly. Pace of play just a bit slow, will definitely go back.
Great course for the money, challenging yet fun.
Would recommend this course to anyone who enjoys the game. The greens were fast and smooth, good rough and fairways, not to many hazards that the game was frustrating. Overall great experience.
