VERY BAD VALUE!
I have played this course in the past and had a wonderful experience, however, this time was TERRIBLE! The fairways and tees were thin with no grass on much of the tees and fairways, the greens were thin, and the course was terrible overall. And they charged us 65 dollars!!! Worst value in the state of NC!!!! DONT play unless they fix the course...its just aweful!
Should have listened to the reviews
I figured I would give this course a try because I had credit on my GolfNow account that was going to expire. For the cost of the course, it probably isn't worth it.
It was cloudy and overcast and not super warm when I played, but somehow the course was drenched in some areas. A few tee shots that were in the fairway plugged and the it seemed like the ground should be under repair in some areas. Additionally, it was difficult to differentiate in some instances where the fringe and the green were. For a resort, I would have expected GPS systems in the golf carts, but that was not the case. If you can keep the ball straight off the tee, this course is fairly easy. The 18th hole is a picturesque finishing green, but for the cost of a round, you can definitely find much more viable options nearby for cheaper.
No toilet paper on the 15 green turn, plenty of space big rolls available, but no paper on an elite course, called to share my story and no offer was made make for consideration. I drove from Charlotte to play the course.
So Well Maintained!
Played on the best fall day of the year. Everything on the course was well maintained except the fringes were a little too long and irregular. Staff and grounds keepers couldn't have been nicer. Only complaint is that a large group had been "doubled teed," so we had to wait to tee off and were paced by them for the front resulting in a five hour round!
Grandover during Covid-19
I was expecting a better course but I was disappointed on the bunkers and around the greens.
Not worth $78
Nice course, good layout bit crappy conditions. Not worth $78 on a Saturday afternoon.
Alright, nothing mind-blowing
This is a cool course, and it’s in pretty good condition (2-3 greens with grass-less edges, and a couple of fairways with nearly bare patches, overall good though)
For being one of the most expensive course in area, I’m not sure I’d say it’s worth the price to regularly play though. You can find plenty courses in just as good of shape for $30-$40 less at primetime rates.
They also charge you to hit range balls on weekend mornings, which seems like a rather petty money grab after dropping $80 to play
Tough course to review
This is a bit of tough review for me because of some conflicting reasonings.
To start, if all you’re worried about is playing a nice course in great condition (apart from 2-3 greens with some rough/grass-less edges, but didn’t really affect play) then you will enjoy this track.
My reasoning for three stars instead of four apart from the few rough green edges may be a bit petty, but I struggle to justify being the most expensive course within a pretty wide area (or close to it) and still charging $6 to hit range balls in prime season on a weekend.
It’s not an issue of money as if you’re paying $78 to play a round of golf you can certainly afford another $6 to hit range balls, it’s more the principle of an already really expensive course (relative to the immediate area, of course) Trying to squeeze patrons out of a bit of extra money
East’s Extra Enjoyable
We really have a great time out there, and literally crave this course after each round, it keeps you wanting more, we’ve played it from all the tee locations, be back soon!
Disappointed
Overall disappointed with the course conditions! Went in with high expectations that definitely were not met. With being closed down for several weeks, the course should have been in great shape. Having been in the golf industry for a while, course overall lacks effort! Tees and fairways were decent, but greens and green surrounds were not good at all! Greens are slow, sanded, grainy and difficult to have any feel on with the inconsistency. Other courses in the area, also Bermuda greens, are rolling at a much higher quality! Definitely not worth the rate they are charging
East Vs West
Had A Great Experience As Usual, Thinking I Like West Course Smidgen Better. Our Carts Battery Seemed Low By 18th Hole but No Big Deal. Really Enjoyed My Range Warm Up Great Value. Love The Pyramid Stacks of Practice Balls, Towels, & Tee’s Offered. We’ll Be Back For The West Experience Next Round!
I know it’s winter, but course needs some tic. Felt subpar for Grandover
waste of time and money
First it was poorly organized. There was a small outing, with shot gun all over the course. The last group, of which we had to play behind was on a 5 1/2 pace. They were playing a scramble. It was awful. Waiting on every hole. There was almost 3 hole open and starters did nothing. While waiting in the fairway you got to view the deporable condition. Fairways and green surrounds burnt out. Bare lyes everywhere. They offered me free drinks, I gave them back their passes and rather have my money back. It was a day of golf with my 20 year old son. A day I can never get back. What a waste
