Oak Hollow Golf Course is one of two municipally owned golf courses in High Point, N.C. This Pete Dye design is the newer and more popular of the two. The layout features several Dye signatures including pot bunkers and railroad ties but it's the small, undulating greens that are the most recognizable Dye trademark. The golf course has an interesting mix of holes, including several risk-reward opportunities. It's a course that will make you think, rewarding strategy and accuracy over might. The signature hole is the par-4 sixth. This 420-yard hole wraps around a lake with an island tee at the tips that will test the brave. Oak Hollow's toughest hole, though, is the 437-yard 11th, also a par 4. You'll need a perfectly placed tee shot and then after you're met with a triple-tiered green that sits along the water's edge.

Friendly staff, course was overdue for a trim, if you were not center fairway overgrowth and leaves concealed your ball.

Great Layout, beautiful lake, need to change out some of pro shop staff

This course is a must-play among municipals. It has it all. I play from the back tees and it offers one of the toughest Par 4s in the Piedmont triad (#6). Walk out into the lake via a small bridge to an Island tee box. Drive is into a narrow landing area along the edge of Oak Hollow Lake. Your approach is a carry across the corner of the lake to a bunker-lined green. Course is very picturesque. WIth a little course manicuring, this could easily be a $ 50/round course. My only gripe is that the guys in the pro shop are sometimes rude and are not appreciative of your business. Need someone friendly taking your money.
Just saying.

Course in very good shape for this time of year

Fairways in great shape; the greens had been punched probably in the last 2-4 weeks and as a result were a little bumpy. You'll play a lot of target golf until you get to know the course.

Can't wait to go back

Oak Hollow staff and crew were very friendly and conscious of the reason you are there. The course was both challenging accompanied with great views of surrounding High Point. Course was in excellent shape and the greens rolled consistently. For the green fees, I will tell all my friends and Marines about this establishment. Thanks Oak Hollow for a wonderful day!

pace of play is slow

Love the course, good challenge. Need to have a marshal on the course to move the slow players along.
Need to ask the players to play the tees that are equal to their skill set.

You Gotta Play This One

First time playing this course and it was a lot of fun. Dye design puts a premium on club selection off the tee. Played from the tips, which will have you teeing off from an island tee box on number 6. Lots of water, greens were very receptive and in great shape. This muni course is much better than some of the semi-private ones I've played in the Charlotte area. Staff was OUTSTANDING. Helped with a lot of course knowledge that I did not have.

Best Golf Course in 40 miles

First of all, this GC is next to a lake, the first 9 holes have great view of the lake. Sometimes I forgot playing but just enjoying the Great Lake side!

The facility is great: putting greens, driving range are in perfect condition. Most importantly, there are not many people and everyone is in order to do everything!

The staffs are very nice, they even have cart to pick-up/drop-off services from the parking lot, that was the first time I experienced.

I will give this GC 5/5 stars, I would recommend this GC to all my friends!

Great layout!

This is a nice, Pete Dye design course. Conditions were okay, but could be better. Pace of play was slow. two groups ahead were 2 couples. There were 2 holes open in front of them. Had to wait on every shot. Staff was nice and snack bar food was good.

AS ALWAYS A GREAT COURSE

I've been playing Oak Hollow for about 25 years since i was a kid and it is still one of my favorite courses. I played last weekend as well as this weekend and the only negative was the number of unrepaired ball marks on the greens was terrible. (not all the courses fault)The course itself was in great shape. If people would just take the few seconds required to repair their ball marks it would make it much more enjoyable for everyone. As always this course is one of the most scenic and relaxing courses in the area. If you love playing golf on a peaceful and scenic course then Oak Hollow is your course. Multiple tees to choose from for every level golfer. The staff was very friendly. My group and the group behind us got stuck behind several very slow foursomes on the 11th tee box and one call to the clubhouse and the ranger was out there within 5 minutes and after that we didn't have to wait again the rest of the round. I play several courses throughout the year but Oak Hollow is one of the few I play several times and will continue to play.

Fun course

Fun course to play. Front is shorter and presents some scoring opportunities. Some nice holes around the water. Number 6 is a great hole from the back tees. Back nine first 4 holes are tough holes and then it eases up towards the end. Get to hit some different short game shots with the green complexes.

Need Ranger

Like other courses the pace of play is determined by how slow the group in front "wants" to play. And, apparently some enjoy holding up the group behind them.
