Oak Hollow Golf Course
About
Oak Hollow Golf Course is one of two municipally owned golf courses in High Point, N.C. This Pete Dye design is the newer and more popular of the two. The layout features several Dye signatures including pot bunkers and railroad ties but it's the small, undulating greens that are the most recognizable Dye trademark. The golf course has an interesting mix of holes, including several risk-reward opportunities. It's a course that will make you think, rewarding strategy and accuracy over might. The signature hole is the par-4 sixth. This 420-yard hole wraps around a lake with an island tee at the tips that will test the brave. Oak Hollow's toughest hole, though, is the 437-yard 11th, also a par 4. You'll need a perfectly placed tee shot and then after you're met with a triple-tiered green that sits along the water's edge.

1st Time at Pete Dye's "Oak Hollow"
Great public "muni" course that lives up to Pete Dye's reputation...awesome value and wonderful staff!!!
course that needs more time to mature this year
the fairways and tees have not come in, so unless you were in the rough, grass was hard to find. and it took 5.5 hrs to play. hopefully it will improve with the warming weather. For the discounted price it was ok.
Rude staff
The guy in pro shop was not friendly just very to the point. The man on the first hole checking people in was very rude and should not be working with people.
Fun layout
A little early in the season. Fun layout, lots of twist and turns. Must use some strategy with plenty of doglegs and risk vs reward shot selections. Severals holes border water. Challenging greens. Early season problems of dorment fairways. Greens are challenging but fun. Lots of elevation changes.
Not worth it
The course has potential, but the grounds are in disrepair. Charging $25/round on the weekend won't bring in enough to fix the issues.
The course
The course really surprised me, was recommended to me by a friend. The course exceeded expectations
Excellent
Even with the poor conditions of an early season outing, it's hard to find anything disappointing about one of Pete Dye's first designs. Tremendous golf course and a terrific day coupled with friendly staff and positive attitude by everyone in sight. I was an A+ experience.
We had a BLAST !!
Got off on time, were never rushed, greens were a bit fluffy but putted true. All in all we had a blast !
VERY GOOD LATE WINTER CONDITION
WE ARE FROM OUTSIDE OF AREA VISITING ...MUCH MUCH BETTER THAN OTHER COURSE WE PLAYED DAY BEFORE...
Great course, would play again
Great course, would play again. Challenging layout, great scenery, tough course
wonderful fun per price and weather
Family winter golf outing to Greensboro national was cancelled by course closure and we luckily found awesome deal at Oak Hallow. Even in winter chilly condition, course condition was fair enough for family fun, especially no one else one the course. Pete course is always fun to play, and Oak hallow has great staff, course and scene, I love to come back in warmer weather.
Winter golf
Tough course, even harder in the winter. Decent conditions considering the time of year but more enjoyable to play when green, like most courses. Probably slightly overpriced year round but if you can get a good rate then it's a better than average course for the triad area.
Play it smart!
Oak Hollow is a Pete Dye gem. Play it smart or it will burn you. Many of the fairways roll from one side to the other and a few are pretty severe. Also, many of the holes run along, or up to, Oak Hollow Lake, providing very scenic views. This yields to some tempting shots that may not be advisable. Greens are in great shape. Fairways are also, but winter dormancy has them practically white. For quicker play you might consider a colored ball. Final advice: as stated in title, play it smart; I lost a couple of strokes to temptation as I flirted with doglegs and treelines that looked crossable. Play it the way Pete intended and you'll love your score as much as the course!
this is a beautiful course
very nice course, staff very helpful, great specials in th e grill, plenty of parking,
Bargain Pete Dye
As one of Pete Dye's early designs, this High Point muny offers plenty of challenge, especially when the wind is up.
In my top 10 all time
This course might be my favorite of all time. It starts out with an easy par 4 and then the views kick in. It has one of the most beautiful short par fives ever that extends into a peninsula green in the middle of the lake followed by one of the hardest tee shots on a par 4. The greens were about 12 on the scale and rolled perfectly. The staff is amazing and they have the best breakfast sandwich ever! 30 bucks for Pete Dye's best design ever, yeah count me in!!
Lovely Course
I definitely will play this course again. It was a perfect day!!
...
Friendly staff, course was overdue for a trim, if you were not center fairway overgrowth and leaves concealed your ball.
Great Layout, beautiful lake, need to change out some of pro shop staff
This course is a must-play among municipals. It has it all. I play from the back tees and it offers one of the toughest Par 4s in the Piedmont triad (#6). Walk out into the lake via a small bridge to an Island tee box. Drive is into a narrow landing area along the edge of Oak Hollow Lake. Your approach is a carry across the corner of the lake to a bunker-lined green. Course is very picturesque. WIth a little course manicuring, this could easily be a $ 50/round course. My only gripe is that the guys in the pro shop are sometimes rude and are not appreciative of your business. Need someone friendly taking your money.
Just saying.
Course in very good shape for this time of year
Fairways in great shape; the greens had been punched probably in the last 2-4 weeks and as a result were a little bumpy. You'll play a lot of target golf until you get to know the course.
RPSCHOTT ----- Where did you play the day before? We are headed down there Easter weekend and are hoping to play some good courses!
