Nice course
The course and layout were good. The greens were slow today due to recent aeration/punching of green and they looked like they needed to be mowed. Overall a good course.
Challenging course if played from the correct tees.
Fairways and roughs well maintained. Greens putted true, held the approach shot well, but were a little slow. Unfortunately, club allows fivesomes on the weekend which slowed everyone on the course.
Glen Oaks
Real nice challenging course, You definitely need to be skilled with your 60 degree, , I like to bump and run and there were less opportunity to utilize that shot, So it was difficult to score well because of it, Regardless, it was very enjoyable, that test your skills, I definitly will be going back.
Greens were Poor
The greens were recently punched making it extremely difficult to putt. There were no warnings or updates alerting me about the greens condition.
Greens were AWFUL!!
I play this course a few times monthly and today was the worst experience I've ever had. We arrived for our round only to be told that we would have to play the front 9 twice because the back 9 was closed. Also nobody informed us that they had aerated the greens the day prior and left sand and plugs all over the greens. I've never seen a golf ball bounce like a basketball when putted until today. Will definitely make sure this is not the case next time. Extremely disappointed today.
Love this course
Course was amazing. Layout was not long, but well thought out and challenging. Will DEFINITELY play this again.
Fun Course
A nice course fun to play, don't expect some 5 star resort type foo foo. Practice Range: a mix of old and newer balls, grass tees but not well kept. Tees: Uneven and narrow. Tee Markers were often very tight and in an area of the tee ground that is not flat. Fairways: In good overall condition, mix of grass types as you might expect on a muni or old course without much recent renovation, fairway edges were not super well defined. Rough: nothing to worry about, a mix of grasses not very deep. Bunkers: On the day I played they were moist as it had rained over night, sand felt heavy, and enough to give a confident feel.. Greens: Overall in good condition, a bit slow and hairy rain overnight contributed to lack of speed, Some greens in very good condition others had some issues but nothing serious. 90 Degree doglegs seem to be the designers favorite. 18 has a strange local rule, I believe the course is played by a senior demographic, 18 has a lake to cross on the second shot and could be a challenge for some distance challenged players. They allow the ball in in fairway to be tee'ed up for the second shot, there is a sign on 18 informing about this local rule. Bottom line a nice stress free round can be played here, leave your caddie and trainer home, enjoy a nice day out. I gave it 3 stars because there is nothing about this course to ruin your day, rating has little to do with what you get, and more to do with how much fun you can have. I've played many of the famous courses on the tip of your tongue, I look for a fun day, not a flawless landscaped garden.
great overall challange.
in hood shape.
greens held good a little slow.
true puttimg.
good sandwich afterward.
Warning to golfers!
I’m writing this review to help golfers like me... visitors to the state who trust reviews on Golfnow and see 4+ stars for a course and so enthusiastically book a tee time. Well, for the second time in my Golfnow lifetime, I arrived at a course which was ranked 4.2 stars yet nowhere near deserving of its ranking, which once again proves why 5-star ranking systems are flawed.
This course is not a sculpted, completed course. Meaning, there’s no shape or refinement to it. The land is naturally hilly, in the basic sense, but looks as if no dozer was used, ever. And not in a good way. The course looks unfinished and seemingly has been maintained by high-schoolers.
The grass, inundated with weeds and mud spots, has simply been cut to different lengths to define fairways and greens instead of actually being built and designated as such. The bunkers are shallow sand-pools that children would be happy to play in... they look amateurish and serve as no real hazard. No aspect of the course is truly fulfilled in what it is. There’s no defined rough and no separation of grass-type between fairway and not-fairway.
The greens are alright, probably the best aspect of the course. But again, the grass is many different types and it’s obvious weeds are most of those types.
This course has been reviewed by locals or visitors with low expectations, and probably because its not a stuffy course and the staff are friendly, they have a gay old time and rank the course, in their limited experience, highly. It’s a wonderful practice ground for beginners of the game, old-timers (there are many) and non-fussy players who are content to have a field and a hole to smack a ball towards.
But heed my advice, don’t book a tee time here and expect a 4.2 star course. You’ll get a 3 star, backyard course.
Nice layout and pace of play
Greens conditions were good, perhaps the need to be rolled, but it has been very wet the last few weeks. Fairways and tees are starting to improve with the warmer weather. Overall, a nice course.
Great course. Nice layout.
It was a great day to play for a winter day. Low 50's, sunny & only a little breezy. Course in great condition for this time of the year. Greens were a little slow but were OK after you got the speed dialed in. Got behind a couple of slow four-somes so it was close to a 4-1/2 hour round. But, still had a nice time.
Fun layout , lots of doglegs . Greens rolled good considering it rained the night before we played. Always enjoy playing here.
Very nice course, great layout
One of the better courses in the area. Short but challenging. Very well maintained & great layout.
