In good shape and nice place of play
Long course. Lots of big par 4s and 3s. Course is in great shape.
Layout and course conditions were incredible, even considering the recent drought! Worth the drive from Charlotte, less than an hour for an underrated course
Above average track
Great value at this tree lined course. Overall layout was a little uninspiring.
But elevation changes and sloping fairways makes it somewhat challenging.
Great value excellent course
First time in Monroe found this little gem the course was in great condition for the time of year.
Everyone Staff and other players were very friendly. We are on a stopover on our way home to UK after a golfing holiday in Alabama.
First Time at Monroe
In the middle of a heat wave, the course was in great shape. Plenty of water stations. Challenging enough for an occasional golfer. Most fairways were quite forgiving. Looking forward to going back.

Very good local course
First time here. Course is in good shape and staff was very friendly. Will play here again.
C+. Track. Priced accordingly
Front nine is older, narrow fairways, mature trees. Greens are elevated, small and don’t hold, therefore a little frustrating. Even hard to keep a chip close if you’re going down slope.
Back nine is newer, wider fairways, larger greens that hold better.
Why Is The Price So High?
Shockingly expensive for this course. A very old course that is just okay but the price is very high and the course needs a marshall to keep pace of play from being so terrible. They use tee times but just let people come in and play, which is a real mess. There are so many other choices in the Charlotte area and for the price, there are far better choices.
OK FOR THE MONEY
I really liked the course design. I am an average golfer and the course is fairly forgiving. I only lost one ball during the entire round and that is good for me. On the negative side; the grounds were not very well maintained. Although a sprinkler system was obviously in place it appeared to have have not been used in quite some time. You almost needed a hammer to put your tee in the ground and the fairways were also hard as a brick and finding a patch of decent grass to hit of of was almost impossible. It’s a beautiful course and what a shame that it is not better maintained.
Grounds Crew has no etiquette
Grounds crew was incredibly rude. Ran over two of my groups balls that were in play. One crew member had two big leaf blowers on back of gator and obliterated us with lawn trimmings, dirt, and rocks while we were standing at out cart and then again on the tee box.
I have never played a course where the grounds crew doesnt stop or idle their tractors while golfers are teeing off.
Rest of staff was friendly and accommodating. Good pace of play and course was in decent condition for start of season and price.
Great value course
fairways and greens in very good shape.
one could argue the (really) small greens on the front nine make several of the holes gimmicky, but those small greens are really the only defense the front nine has - otherwise wide fairways and short-ish holes.
Thank you for your review. As you may know, the front 9 is a Donald Ross design. He is know for smaller, elevated, sloping greens. As many players that are familiar with Donald Ross designs, to be above the hole on any green is most likely going to be penalized.
