About
River Ridge Golf Club is one of the finest public golf courses in Raleigh. The course sprawls across 100 acres in the heart of the Triangle, it's an easy 15-minute drive from downtown Raleigh. The lush green of the course contrasts beautifully with the Carolina blue skies. Mature trees frame most of the holes and there are a few lakes that come into play. The rolling terrain provides plenty of ups and downs throughout the golf course. Accuracy will be generously rewarded but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper. The course's signature hole is the par-4 fifth, a 375-yard hole that can be conquered with smart play. Try to keep your long iron or fairway wood to the right of the fairway, which will give you a short iron approach into the green.

5-somes Are Just Wrong!
The course is in good shape. Pretty awesome layout and really tough greens, lots of breaks, few straight putts, but they put true. My poor rating is based on them adding a 5th player to the foursome in front of us. Front nine played great and we stayed ahead of pace of play, waiting a bit, on most shots, but we expected to wait, we were a twosome. When we pulled up on #10 there was a third cart now in the group with a female golfer who they were obviously trying to teach her how to play. Rather than let us play through we followed them through the entire back nine at a snails pace. 5-somes do not belong on a golf course, especially when you pay $150 for 2 golfers to play.
Great Value
This is a first class golf course at a terrific price. It provides a challenge for every skill level. It’s tough but fair.
Tough Rolling Greens
Really enjoyed the course.Everything is starting to dry out a bit due to no rain for several weeks, but greens were very good (tough to read), fairways and tees also in good condition. Several very difficult holes, but overall player friendly with a good variety of shot requirements. Not overly long from the white tees , but you have to know where to hit it. Would be nice to have bathrooms on the course.
Epic
Got to give 5 stars when the golf gods are in your favor. I went out with a 2-under 34 from the Blues, four birdies on the front nine which is a personal best. But that tasty turkey/bacon/avocado and IPA on the turn might have disrupted me a bit (harder when walking the course) and fell off quite a bit on the back nine. But the greens were great, played with 3 other singles all playing well. The temp and humidity were perfect and the course dry for the first time in months.
Hidden gem
Fantastic conditions tee-to-green including secondary rough and cart paths. Great pace, well marked and fair. Played the blue tees, but several good drives on par 4s still had 160-170 yards out. All the par 3s will challenge you. Enough water to keep it interesting but no ridiculous forced carries. Would go back here in a second!
