Wil-Mar Golf Club

Just getting back into golf ending a 21 year hiatus, I'm extremely pleased to find out that a course this well kept is this close to me. Everyone there is extremely nice and eager to earn and keep your business. From the cart guys to the front desk to the small grill staff. Course maintenance is obviously a priority for them and it shows. I read multiple reviews prior to playing there and the two things negatively mentioned(course shape and starter attitude) I saw nor heard anything of the sort. They do run a tight ship at the start which I appreciate.

The course is very convenient to my office and home and was in great shape. Course layout is challenging, and holes can be approached a number of different ways. Friendly staff with good food/grill area. Nice hidden gem of a course.

The course has great value for the price (under $20) but the greens were very slow making it difficult since I am used to faster greens at this time of the year. I played on Wednesday mid morning the the course was surprisingly very crowded. Not bad for a round to stretch your muscles, but perhaps not for serious golfers.

I've played several of the public courses in and around Raleigh over the past few years and this is definitely the best that I've played! It has a basic clubhouse with a small place to get quick bite to eat and refreshments. I didn't eat anything, but it smelled great! Nothing fancy but fine for a burger or hot dog. They have a range to get in some practice beforehand and you are hitting off real grass, a rare thing nowadays! The practice greens looked to be in good shape as well, though I didn't get a chance to use them.

On to the important part .. the actual golf! The fairways and greens are immaculate! The greens are mostly flat, very little slope to deal with. They were rolling very well and no divots or bad spots on them. Only one green on the back nine had some moisture and softness at the edge, other than that .. the greens were perfect. There is just enough water and sand to challenge you, but nothing too crazy. The traps were in pretty good shape, not sugar sand but not hitting from red clay/mud either. They were well maintained and clean, with no grass growing in them.

I've been wanting to play Wil-Mar for a while and when I saw the price for a 'Hot Deal', I had to take the afternoon off and take advantage of it. I will definitely be coming back and bringing my friends!

First impressions matter, And Will-Mar made a great one. Nice welcome at check in, starter got us off and running, course was lush, play moved at even pace. Especially enjoyed the consistency of greens after our tough summer. Great value.

Course was in excellent condition great at booking tee time Pacer play Move let alone would recommend too many friends thanks.

Wish it was greener, but this round was early october. Things had started to brown up.

front nine greens were slow... then the back nine seemed to be a little too fast. Hard to guage.

Great people here, but I loved the lushness when I was here in April, a little more.

Everybody friendly, course always kept up, a pleasure to spend every saturday there.

I had not played here since the middle of summer. Read some recent reviews of the course that were very positive .

After playing today I can see why. Course is in great shape.

I highly recommend you give it a try. I played alone today and finished in under 3 hours. Wil- Mar has moved up the ladder as far as comparing it to other area courses.

I was very impressed with the improvements made to the course..

Course is play friendly. Course is also walk friendly.

They have been putting some time and money into the course. The greens have improved so much they are in good shape currently. They put a grill in. The course is looking nice right now. pace can be slowish sometimes. I also this the staff has gotten nicer. When I first play there the course was not a good value, now the course is priced right and you get a nice course.

This course was in great condition and it is a great value. The bunkers were a little on the hard side. I had one shot that landed squarely in the bunker that bounced about 6 feet high landing on the fringe.

Greens in great shape , a little slow to get food , waited 15 minutes to get a readily availble pulled pork , i think it was the owner cooking , needs to speed it up a little or be replaced,lol,. Hit the flag on 17 from the whites , but didn't drop in , rolled a foot away,
