nice course
Nice course, good staff, great burgers, pace of play very good, tee boxrs in good shape, could use better markers on course.
Good overall value
Course plays slow due to level of players. Small greens with average speed. Good course for price.
Wil-Mar course fun, kind of short but challenging
We played it safe and played from the whites as this was our first time here. Being a winter round there was not much of a crowd. For being a shorter course the par 3's are fairly lengthy. This is by no means a short feel good course, it will test your course management abilities. Overall a great experience......the greens were in fantastic shape for the season and we look forward to coming back when the rest of the course is green.
wil-mar
course was wet but it is winter, my golf game was pitiful but hadn't played in a while. great value for the price ($20)
wil-mar
course was wet but it is winter. golf game was awful but hadn't played in a while. would definitely play there again, good value
Great Course - Good Value
Paired up with a group of 3. Very friendly , so made the round enjoyable. Greens were somewhat fast and putting was the challenge. Overall very enjoyable. Will play again.
This course is has challenged and great pin location.
I love playing with the fan golfer on this course and my friends at Wil-Mar Golf Course.
I got to get use to the new greens
The course was in pretty good shaped but the cart path only rule shouild have been lifted for most of the holes. The pace of play was terrible! The staff was not as friendly as I was accustomed to especially the starter.
Not a bad course
It was terribly crowded, and a marshal would have been nice to speed up the pace. The course was a little wet in places, but the rain had been pretty bad in the days prior. The grass in the fairways was already dead, and the grass on the greens made for some slow rolls....but overall, it was a pleasurable experience, and the two guys I played with made for a good time.
This is well maintained course
Play conditions great except for 1 wet fairways but it been raining last few days
Cold and Windy
I always enjoy playing Wilmar, tougher than most people think.
Great value and golf
Great course. Great weather. Great staff maintenance. Great golf. So-so execution. But a great time.
The good and the bad
I've played this course many times and enjoy the experience. However, the back nine cart path only rule took away from my enjoyment. I felt that there were only two holes where that rule should have applied. The round also took four hours. I guess I am spoiled because now I usually play at Paschal where I can play a round in under three hours. But, I will say, I've never seen the course in better shape.
Wilmar is the best deal for the $$$
I have played here sparingly over the past 10 years. The course is in better shape then ever. For the money(usually 30 to ride), you cant beat it anywhere in Raleigh. They have done a great job with their greens this year. Easy to play course even for the beginners.
Incredible Value
I have been in the golf industry for over 20 years. I wanted to play a round where I was just another paying customer. I have to say that this Club does an incredibly good job for what they have. The fairways were in t=really good shape and although the greens were not as fast as what I am used to, they held and rolled very true. If you are looking for a place to play that is a great VALUE and a very well kept secret, call the golf shop and set up a tee time.
Course is not long ut requires you to use every club in your bag, which is something a lot of courses lack these days. You can't just bomb driver off the tee unless you can really work the ball (which is difficult this day and age with the equipment we all play with). It is a fun and challenging golf course that is in a beautiful setting.
I played on a Tuesday and apparently, it got me all the golf I wanted to play for the day. If you are a Raleigh resident, get out there and support this locally owned business! It worth it, especially this time of year!
good course for price
not a very long course but still had some challenging holes and the fairways were in the best condition i have seen this fall. greens were a little sandy but not terrible.
Wilmar 9/9/14
Course in good shape even after 3" rain the previous day. A couple of greens were a bit ragged - the others were fine. The designer laid out the course such that at least one hole faced all 4 points of the compass - north, south, east and west. Will definitely go back.
Great first time experience at Wil-Mar
During our first visit to Wil Mar we were met by a friendly staff, a course that was challenging for our foursome and in good shape. It was somewhat narrow in places and had some challenging bunkers and hole placements.
It was a fun experience and one we will repeat.
Beautiful course
Challenging greens with cups placed in some difficult contours. But other than that, great course!
Definitely worth your time!
I haven't played this course in several years and I'm not really sure why I stopped playing there. The staff was friendly (but don't drive your cart on the par 3's, the ranger has an eagle eye). Well worth the money paid, we had a great afternoon!!
