Fairly price for a fair course
I have played here a number of times primarily due to its proximity to my home. The course is in average condition with some bare patches on fairways but overall not bad. Its better than a muni course but not up there with some of the good semi private courses out there. Always fun to play though with some challenging pin positions and shot shaping required. Have been lucky enough to be paired with great groups in all the times I have gone out. Staff are always friendly and I have been in under 4 hours every round I have played.
The rough is deep and can easily swallow up your ball not be found.
The course was in great condition. Beware of the rough I lost quite a few balls just off the fairway because it was so deep. The greens were fast and challenging. Choose you tee time wisely, it was hot when we played, but they can't control the weather.
Drive some par 4s
Well maintained course for the $. Shorter par 4s are nice after playing a lot of longer courses lately. Greens are fast but we had a great time.
Great course for value!
Played 730a tee time and on a weekend for only $43. I was surprised by how nice the greens were and the overall value of the course!
Nice cource
No real complaint I personally like a more changing course but this course is very nice and very well maintained
Very fun course to play
A fun course to play, not too tight, so you won't lose many balls if you spray it off the tee. Varying lengths on the par 3's 130 - 205 and a couple of long par 5's, so I used every club in my bag. Very reasonable rates and extremely friendly staff, even gave me a couple of balls when I realized I didn't bring but two (even though I didn't need them). Good fairways and greens, even though they are Bermuda. I am new to the area and will definitely be back.
Love of Gof
Great staff and nice course. It is a course for all level of plays. Very friendly staff that also support the Woulded Warriors program and the USO OF NC.
Thank you!
One of the best courses around!
A must try, especially for the price and location! It's not a TPC course, but will leave you feeling challenged and happy!
wil-mar
This is a great course for beginners and intermediate golfers. No true out of bounds get to play from adjacent fairway. The tee boxes, fairways, and putting greens was in great condition.
The driving range was hidden just on the other side of the tent hole.
Can't bet price
Fairways great greens good but slow shot making course
This course really tests your skills!
Friendly staff, clean facilities. The course is fun and challenging. Great for the price!
Pace is a little slow.
Scenic, Short & Slow
I played on a busy Sunday, so pace of play was slow, which was compounded by the general skill level and golf etiquette of the regulars. But the price was right. At 6,100 yds & par 71 from the blues with 5 par 5's, it's not long, but the par 3's make the course. It's mature trees and narrow fairways make it a scenic and shot makers delight. I do wish they'd cut the greens down a little. They are VERY slow, so be sure you hit the practice green before the 1st tee. Overall, it was a fun round. I would go back here, but preferrably during the week.
A Pleasant Course
I played the course as I was staying in Raleigh while attending the US Open. This course wasn't Pinehurst, but it was a great course for someone passing through Raleigh. It was a good length. The course was in fairly good condition. It was a nice layout. The greens were much slower than what I am used to, but after getting used to the speed, they were consistent. I would recommend this course for anyone.

Great staff. Club rentals available. Course is the best value in town.
Wilmar vs. Lochmere
played Lochmere Friday morning and Wilmar Saturday morning. so ill write the contrast review for both, hopefully it helps someone decide the one they want to play. both were on the shorter side, not much elevation change, but alot of doglegs and hazards to be found. i haven't found a nicer set of greens in Raleigh yet than at Wilmar (chapel ridge, preserve, neuse..all have nice greens as well, but these were amazing this weekend)...I play 1-2 times a week all around. the ball rolls true and they were cut perfect when i played. Lochmere's greens were just OK, with some nice ones and some damaged ones but overall above average. the fairways at Wilmar were kept decent and in some spots there looked like some winter damage but all in all not bad. Lochmere has the hardest fairways ive ever played. i got 20-30 yards extra roll off of the longer irons and woods than normal and im not exaggerating. that would be nice in a few instances except when you try to take a decent control divot. its was hard as a rock. so its amazing for boosting the ego off of the tee, but hard to control based on hitting off of very compact clay. both courses were short from the blues overall. at Lochmere it was due to every hole being short yardage. at Wilmar there are 3 par 3's and 3 par 5's per side. with some decently long holes. neither course is particularly hard. Wilmar gives a Military discount which was nice. Lochemere was $30 to walk so that's not bad either. for this area anyways. not sure which course ill play again based solely on location for Wilmar and the hard fairways for Lochmere. hope this helps.
Nice Day on the course
Friendly staff, played with 2 gentlemen that really seemed to have fun and did not mind playing with 2 unknowns. Greens were in good condition.
Well Worth Playing
Wil-Mar is in very good shape right now. The greens are lush and the faiways are very good. Some of the tee boxes need attention. The cart paths are rough. Playing from the white tees makes the course less than 6,000 yards, but that doesn't make this course "easy". We played from the blue tees which adds 5-10 yards per hole and puts the length at about 6,100 yards. There is also a nice warm-up range. You will not go wrong playing here.
Greens were in great shape
some of the tee boxes were in need of help, but the fairways were good and they are letting the rough grow on some of the holes which is nice
Enjoyable play at Wil-Mar
Wil-Mar is a very nice course with a nice mix of challenging holes for a beginning golfer.
