Friendly Round of Golf
We played this course of a good weather Friday afternoon so the course was a little busy. Starter got us off before time. Pace of play was good. Food was great. Fairways and ruff were good, and greens were hard and hard. For the amount of your greens fee this is the best golf for the price in Northern Wake County
Perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon
My husband and I really enjoyed playing this course. It has been several years since we played this particular course and it's just as I remembered it, challenging and well maintained. It took us roughly 4 hours to play which is remarkable in my opinion. The ranger was quite courteous and kept everyone moving along which is very important. We will definitely be back.
Very Nice Course
I'm a high handicapper and of all the courses I've played, this offers a challenge without being too difficult for the novice. Pars and birdies are available if you are aggressive. The fairways are in very good condition and I would rate the course a 4.5 as some of the putting greens need a little attention. Overall, it's excellent value for the money.
course in great shape
the course was well maintained and good. The greens did need some work but overall they are in very good condition.
Needs work just about everywhere
The greens are bad. Very bumpy and slow but don't roll true. Tee boxes and fairways are in need of work also. It was however $25 for a Sunday at 11am so that was reasonable. Although they would not let me walk until after 12 which was disappointing considering the course was rather empty especially for a Sunday morning. I would not go back just because of the greens. I actually like the course layout but it needs a lot of love to be a solid course. Sand was pretty good though which was surprising based on the rest of the course conditions. If you're a hacker or just out for a day of golf it will suffice but if you take golf seriously this is not the course for you. Try Pine Hollow, the crossings, or even Wildwood Greens if you can find a good deal.
Great course with friendly staff
As the other reviews have stated, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The course was in very good condition and well maintained. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking for an inexpensive and fun round of golf. You can't beat the value.
Pay once, Play all Day!!
I love WilMar GC. Shot best score ever and had a blast!
Course in good shape.
Not difficult for the players who haven'y played much. Staff was friendly and play moved along steady.
For Everyone...
I had a great time at Wil-Mar. It is a really easy course, yet you can make it somewhat challenging with shot-shaping risks to shave yards...and strokes. The course is well maintained and looks great this time of year (May) For the money, you absolutely can't beat it!
The course has definitely made some changes for the good. The cart paths have been redone, as well as the refreshment area and the greens are good.
I have never had a bad time at Wil-Mar. The employees always make me feel welcome and answer any questions I have. Wil-Mar has made improvements to their course which has made me coming back.
The hardworking staff could not be more pleasant. Public golfers are welcomed - not shunned.
Great value. Course is in good shape - not Augusta but in good shape. Front 9 is an easy introduction as the back tends to be a little more challenging. Great lay out.
Good course for the money
Wilmar was in the best shape I have ever seen it. I enjoy playing it but get frustrated on some holes as you can't pull out your driver. Rate of play was a little slower than normal. I still had a great day at Wilmar.
nice greens when they finish going in
need some rough in the fairways . this will make the course look better and play harder. green are shape good just a litte more rough around the green.
The course was very nice
This is the fastest 9 holes of golf that I ever played as it was done in 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Harder than you think
Course has been around for years but many tee boxes have been moved back, greens were tight and fast. More teeth to this track than you might think.
Great trip for the money
I have probably played this track a 1/2 dozen times now and have really liked it on the whole. While not elite/pristine conditions, it is a challenging course that requires some thought and encourages some risk taking.
Improved from my last visit
I played Wil-Mar about a year ago and the course has improved quite a bit since then. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and the course has a good mix of challenges and hole designs. The course was very well maintained, especially the greens. I would guess it would be on the easy side for a low-handicapper, but not being one I am not in a position to say so with any authority. The only negative was pace of play - for a round at noon on a Thursday in March the course was either very crowded (which by the parking lot, it wasn't) or the presence of several large, slow groups was not well-managed. While I was playing by myself I ended up as a foursome just because the course was so backed up it made sense to do so. Not a big issue - after all, 4.5 hours isn't too terrible and if you're out playing golf you obviously have some spare time anyway, but the delays were annoying. I am excited to play it again soon but will not expect a quick round.
