Fairway weeds. Not every hole was this bad, but most holes had some form of this. Even some greens had stuff like this. Photo submitted by blamege on 09/19/2022

Great Course
I've played the Lake Course on numerous ocassions and had not played the Creek course in over two or three years. I found the course to be very challenging yet stil fun for all levels of players.
Challenging, but Fun
I played the Creek Course. The course was in good shape. The greens were firm and very tricky when putting. A lot of pin placements that were tough to figure out. The fairways were in nice shape. There are a few blind shots, but not too difficult to figure out. Staff was really friendly. Really nice course overall.
Challenging layout, friendly staff, decent conditions
Staff were very friendly and gave instructions on how to get around the course. The course had received rainfall the night before, and storms. So there were some debris and it was a bit wet. Bunkers need more sand. Otherwise, the course was in good shape. Tight fairways and small greens made for a challenging layout. Would play again for the Hot Deal price.
Very attractive
Welcome fantastic
Carts excellent
Tees a bit rough
Fairways tidy
Greens immaculate and fast
Customer service excellent.
Well worth a visit.
Had a great day
We played the Creek course, it’s design is a little tough but beautiful. If you want to have a good, beautiful round of golf , play here.
Great time. Best staff of any course.
Leaving the same review for both courses since I played both the same day.
Before I say anything else, I have to say that Mike in the pro shop is next level friendly and helpful. I called early in the day to ask if I could get out a little early due to expected weather, and he was very accommodating. I ended up getting caught out on the course cowering under a small bathroom overhang during my unexpected second round (the course was empty, and the first round flew by, so I decided to try and beat the weather. I didn't make it.). As I was calling the clubhouse to get the bathroom code, the shelter was nearly struck by lightning. Mike offered to have someone come out and pick me up via the adjoining road. Though I decided to wait it out, the gesture was very nice and helped make the day unforgettable. As for the courses, they are very beautiful and highly challenging. The Lakes course has three of the most unforgettable par 3's you'll find anywhere with two of them dropping nearly 50' in elevation with water carries and one on a peninsula out into Lake Trace with expansive views. There are elevation changes galore, and I would extremely discourage anyone wanting to walk. Besides, there are some incredibly long distances between holes. The carts are much better than what I've read from other reviews with nicely cushioned, high-end seats, but they are gas carts, and they are loud. The concrete cart paths are great on the Lakes course, but the blacktop paths on the Creek course have a ton of bumps because of root growth, so you have to keep your eyes pealed at all times or you might chip some teeth. The front nine of the Creek course has a couple of holes where knowing the course would have saved a couple of strokes, especially the par 5 third where the fairway stops suddenly and blindly from the tee and becomes an incredibly steep area of rough right where a good drive might stop, and if your ball doesn't have enough speed to get through it, you'll have the worst downhill shot over water you've ever imagined. Either buy a yardage book or play with someone who knows, but it would be nice if there were at least some pictures on the scorecard or on signs at the tee. The greens are very fast and roll beautifully, and the fairways were coming in nicely for this time of year. Like many others have said, these courses desperately need signage. It was very easy to either get lost or feel like you're lost, even if you're in the right place. I played the Lakes first, and when making the turn, I didn't yet understand that the Creek course didn't come back to the clubhouse, so when I saw signs pointing to #10, I was unsure if it was the right course or not. Other places very little to know signs at all, especially the path getting back to the clubhouse after #18 of the Creek. (hint: when you get to the road, take a left, and immediately look for the path on your right. It's the same color as the driveway it touches, and there's just a little yellow arrow to tell you where to go.) Overall, it was an awesome experience with memorable golf and a very friendly staff.
NC visitors
Signage for where to follow holes was a disaster. Post clear signs with arrows and next tee NUMBER so first timers have a fighting chance. A shame as the course and the beauty deserved better. Would play again but green fee north of $100 seems excessive.
The Creek Course is a very nice layout. The greens were in great shape but a little slower than I prefer. Bermuda fairways were still a bit dormant and thin. A hilly layout provides plenty of challenge with the up hill, down hill, and side hill lies. Pace of play was excellent except for a few occasions where kids were riding their bikes across the course or residents were jumping in for a few holes with their dogs in tow.
Carolina trace
Nice challenging layout, well maintained. Good spring special price in March.
Carolina Trace Country Club
Great course. Very friendly. Would love to go back and play again.
Sorry To Leave
Played the Creek Course at Carolina Trace on a hot deal from Golf Now. After deducting the service fee and using a Golf Now credit I played a premium course for cheap. It had rained so it was cart path only. Of course, I hit the opposite way and walked a LOT! The person in the shop was very helpful, The course was damp from the rain. However, the tees and fairways were very playable and the greens were lightning fast. I have Carolina Trace high on my list and I'm always looking for an opportunity to play there. The Lake and Creek courses are both wonderful layouts.
Not a clue
The only problem with this course is the lack of hole layouts. We had no idea if hole was dogleg, where the hazards are, how far to the hole and where the next hole was.
Layout of course is very confusing
There are two courses …creek and lake
It is poorly marked to the holes as you navigate thru the neighborhood
You will find a sign indicating next tee, however upon arriving you find yourself on the wrong hole or wrong course
I wish they would either provide a map or signage to direct the golfers properly
At the end of our round I brought up the pro shop that we somehow missed hole 16 and then ended our round on the wrong course
The gentleman at the pro shop said “it happens all the time” and that he is always filtering calls from confused golfers
