Golfer Reviews
Great Course
I’ve played here 3 times now. Staff is always friendly and course is well kept. A good mixture of difficult and challenging holes. I always enjoy playing here.
Must play
The course was in great shape. There were some bare spots in general play area but fairways and greens in great shape and the architecture of the old home on front 9 lead to a great experience.
Nice place all around
Staff was very friendly, some of the nicest carts in the area as well. Greens can be pretty tough due to multiple elevations. One drawback was that there wasn’t a driving range. 10/10 would recommend.
Great course
No driving range but overall fun course. The rough was long and the greens are small. Had a good time and would go back. The greens are a tough read, very slight movement that keep you guessing.
GB on Cleveland CC
I already reviewed this once, so I am not adding any additional comments

First time playing Cleveland Country Club. It was Masters Thursday the weather wasn’t ideal. However my playing partner and I found the course in very good condition and not real busy. Carts were electric, clean, quiet and quick. Course was quite challenging due to elevation changes particularly on the back 9. Will definitely play again. The only negatives were lack of a driving range and snack bar.
Great bang for the buck
Was able to get out by my self and play on a Thursday morning. Had the course pretty much to my self. Gentleman at the front desk was quite nice. No driving range but not a big deal to me. Greens were in great shape and very well protected. Fairways were average and the rough and areas around the course could use a bit of love but it is early spring. You can tell this course was a gem at one point. For 50$ it was a great deal.
Loved It
I an absolutely fantastic round at Cleveland Country Club in Shelby, NC! From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, making sure everything was set for a smooth and enjoyable experience. Their hospitality really added to the day.
The course Itself is immaculate—the fairways are well-manicured, the greens roll true, and every detail is clearly maintained with care. The layout offers just the right blend of challenge and playability, keeping the round engaging while still allowing for a relaxing time on the course.
What really stood out to me was the serene and calming scenery. Whether it was the peaceful tree-lined fairways or the picturesque views throughout, the setting made for a perfect day of golf. It’s the kind of course where you can truly appreciate the game and the moment.
If you’re in the area and looking for a great golf experience, I highly recommend Cleveland Country Club. I’ll definitely be back!
Put on your “to play” list
Great shape for this time of year, of course the fairways were dormant, greens were excellent. Staff was friendly & helpful. Will play again if possible.
Cleveland
Cleveland country club is usually always in great condition. The only reason I took some stars off are for the following reasons...1...the greens were so fast you couldn't putt on them. Especially if you were above the hole you might as well pick up cause you're 3 or 4 putting. No need in greens being that quick...takes the fun out of playing good or even trying. 2...there wasn't much sand in some of the bunkers. Other than that I always loved the course.
The greens were some of the smoothest I've played on. Not much grass in fairways though also....but that's to be expected for winter golf in NC.
