About
Dan Maples, architect of the nationally acclaimed Pit Golf Links, has created another masterpiece only minutes from the Village of Pinehurst. Longleaf Golf & Family Club was formerly the site of Starland Farms, for years the training ground of some of the country's top thoroughbreds. As a tribute to its colorful history, Maples incorporated some of the features and flavor of the old facility into the golf course, including part of the fence and training track. The front nine at Longleaf was designed in the Scottish open style with subtly rolling fairways.The back nine, in contrast, is heavily tree-lined and dramatically elevated. Ron Whitten of Golf Digest called Longleaf "...the most playable course in Pinehurst."

Enjoyed the round
Course is in great shape. Their association with US Kids has really pumped some money into the course. 7 sets of tees so it's a course for all levels. Nice mix of flat, open holes with up/down hill, tree-lined holes. I'd definitely play here again!
First time
The clubhouse was nice, or at least the portion we were able to see due to restrictions because of COVID 19. Staff was very pleasant. The course was great and we will play there again soon.
40 minute drive from where I live
Wow wow wow .. the green in excellent shape fairways as well , layout is something to remember, link style back9 very open lots and lots of knee high fescue, back 9 some holes are tight ... love the many tee box selections ... great course
Good track and great value
Staff incredibly friendly. Even with awful foursome in front of us played in 4 hours.
Horrible Customer Service
Lady at front desk extremely difficult to deal with. Super sarcastic and forgot that the customer was sometimes right, not always right, but sometimes. Additionally, lady was extremely rude and obtained no social tact when dealing with military & healthcare professionals, refusing discounts for said professions. When we tried to get a refund before our tee time began she refused and said we’d have to use Golf Now to cancel. It required verbal altercation before she finally did her job. Would never recommend this golf course to anyone.
Great course
It’s the US Kids home base course. Great setup. Lots of tee selections. Awesome greens. Some tough holes but fair. An up and coming course in the area. Implanted all safety rules for Covid-19.
Great Job!
My second time playing this course, because the first experience was great! The cart guy remembered me from last time, always courteous, with a smile and asked how my game, experience was playing. The Pro Shop guy, sorry I didn't get names, was very personable and polite, talking to me about the virus situation and not rushing me off, even though he had three people in line! The people in line were probably not happy that I was yapping so much, but I appreciated his demeanor.
The course was not green as my previous play in the fall and the driving range was mats only. There driving range is great as well. If you like to get some practice in before a round, they have what you need. The greens were fast and pure, no complaints there, except for my putting stroke couldn't get the pace right that day. They paired us with a guy, I remembered his name, because it was the same as my friend playing golf with me that day, Mark.. He played well and kept his distance from us considering the C19 thing and was friendly as well.
All in all, one of my go to favorites in Southern Pines.
Excellent
The Course was in great shape and the staff was very friendly. The greens would stick on your approach shots and the greens seemed to roll real easy and fast. Highly recommend you check out this course the next time you play.
