Talamore Golf Resort
About
Resort Course at Talamore Golf Resort is a Rees Jones masterpiece that was nominated as "Best New Public Course of the Year" when opened and has become a regular stop for annual returnees to Pinehurst.
The centuries-old tradition of using llamas to help humans carry packs has been revived with a new twist at Talamore. These gentle, hardy animals can carry two bags of clubs with ease and sure-footedness. Their soft padded feet are kind to the delicate surfaces of a golf course. Known for their friendly and quiet manners, llamas make the perfect caddies. Now you can treat yourself and your friends to a truly distinctive golf experience.

Ancient golfer
Nice course and staff. Course in good condition except greens are hard surface and don't hold iron shots very well. Too slow pace took 5 hours to play. By time we got to10th tee had 6 carts waiting.from there we waited most shots and nobody let us play thru. Needed marshal to make pace speed up.
Fun Layout
First time playing Talamore since the redesign. Very fun, fair layout. Generous fairways, greens were not too severe......speed and undulation wise. The sand is very fluffy and heavy......and many of the traps at greenside have very steep faces.....almost look like revetted walls. Overall, well worth the drive from Raleigh.
Good course
Greens weren't that great
Not much grass in the fairway
Little river was better
Terrible Pairing
We scheduled a time to play around 11am, the course staff moved us back to 1120AM and paired us with 2 kids that were playing a practice round for some upcoming tournament. We were on the course for over 5 hours and the last thing we wanted to do was play gold with two middle school aged kids while their parents rode along and watched and coached them.
Great course conditions but truly an awful experience.
Solid course
First time playing Talamore and it was very enjoyable. Booked through GolfNow and had no issues. Played with 3 guys down from Minnesota on the last day of their golf vacation. The staff was very friendly from the bag drop through check in and to the starter. The course is overall player friendly from the local rules to the new layout. Yes the greens are new within the last year and still a bit firm but they were in awesome shape. They rolled great and they held approach shots that came in high. The rest of the course was in awesome shape considering it is late July in the Sandhills and hotter than h*ll here this time of year. 5 sets of tee boxes to suit your game. Some forced carries and the new bunkering was challenging and fair. I did like the Links style grass faced bunkers around the greens. I only see this course getting better with time for the greens to soften up. Pace of play was 4 hours and 10 minutes on a Sunday that was fully booked. Plenty of water on the course to help keep you hydrated. Definitely will play here again.
Enjoyable Experience
Nice course. Fairly wide open and friendly. We were a twosome and pace of play was good. Didn't wait until 15th hole. Port-o-johns on the course but you do go by the clubhouse when making the turn.
I would play again if I was in the area.
Green were firm and fast
Talamore's renovated the course and it is in excellent condition. I would highly recommend you go talk to Miles who done an awesome job welcoming us to talamore. Only thing missing a nice little chipping area would complete tis already fantastic golf course.
Great course
They switched to champion Bermuda last year and the greens are fantastic. Great conditions and a nice bar for drinks after. Will play again.
Love the Changes, same unfriendly proshop
Haven't played at Talamore in a couple of years, since before the renovations. Absolutely LOVE the new greens and bunkers. Problem with new greens, though no fault of the course, is that they are so firm they are impossible to hold a shot making for a miserable playing experience. In time this course is going to be OUTSTANDING when greens soften a bit but love the changes, well done. The bag drop / starter gets 5 stars for friendliness and customer service, the tall grump in the proshop I would give a zero if possible. Was checking out course for possible site of our 20 person golf group annual trip next year but would not want to deal with this guy's attitude for 4 days. Rude, unassuming and definitely could care less about customer service. Grill and beverage cart personnel were both GREAT, 5 stars. Once the greens work in and soften a bit, this course will be a must play, but right now you may want to practice chipping on to the parking lot to prepare for these greens.
Beautiful fast new greens
Great course & layout. The new greens are great but very hard & fast.
Decent layout, bad greens
This is the second time I have played this course, with the last time being two years ago. I left the course feeling like the course conditions worsened vs. my last time here. Apparently, they recently completed a redesign of the greens and performed other course updates. The greens undulations were unnaturally tiered, and rock hard and not receptive to irons or pitches. The grass in the chipping areas around the green was sparse and barren in spots. Also, there are several holes with very deep, sod faced bunkers which we very difficult to play from, particularly with greens as hard as they were. Overall, I had a favorable impression of the course coming in to the day, but left disappointed.
Awesome
Best greens I've ever played on. Course has some St Andrews type bunkers so be prepared to lose a few strokes! Great everything here and I will come back in the fall.
Pitchputt
Good course to play
After played tobacco road golf club yesterday, my expectation was not high for this course. If you haven't played the tobacco road course, then you definitely should. In my opinion it's the course to be in Pinehurst. But Talamore impress me more than I expected. Green was in great condition, the fairways were fun and interesting with elevation changes. My only complaints were the pace of the play and lack of grass in some of the fairways. As an out of towner, first time playing this course, I usually like to play with locals to get some guides on how best to play the course.
I originally booked to play with another twosome, but they reassigned my playing partner. I ended up playing by myself, waiting on every hole and virtually every shot! Five hours for the round.
Other than that I really enjoyed the course.
Didn't find the pro shop staff person that helpful. Asked about a replay and he advised should be no problem. When we come back in after our round we were advised there would a 2 hr wait for a replay.
Price for the course and replay was high for this time of year. Also having to pay for range balls at that price was disappointing
Talamore Resort Pinehurst
I have played this course 20 or more times. They have transitioned to Bermuda greens and renovated the course. The changes have made the course more player friendly. Fewer bunkers and trees. They have however added some challenging pot bunkers. The greens are in great shape and the fairways are good considering spring has just hit the area. I used a "Hot Deal" and some rewards to lower the price from $45 to $35. The Golfnow price was ridiculous for a premiere Pinehurst course. Highly recommend Talamore.
We had a wonderful experience the staff was great course beautiful conditions and the pace of play could not have been better
A Sandhills Gem
The recently completed renovations at Talamore have made the golf course a must-play for anyone travelling to the Pinehurst area. The new bermuda greens roll true and will be an absolute treat throughout the warm summer months. The short par-4 ninth hole is the best on the golf course in my opinion. It features tight tee shot protected by a long fairway bunker down the left-hand side (which I promptly found myself in) followed by an uphill wedge or short-iron approach into an undulating green that slopes from back to front. The key new feature on the hole that makes it truly one of the greats is the pair of deep grass-faced bunkers dug into the front of the green complex. Any approach that comes up short is sure to wind up in one of these traps, requiring a links-style side or backward shot to get out of this sandy prison. 5 stars, Talamore. 5 stars!
