The 500 Club
About
The 500 Club (formerly known as Fox Den Country Club and Larkin Golf Club) is a premier entertainment destination for the Lake Norman region. This relaxed club with NASCAR roots provides a laid-back experience, quick pace of play, and plenty of entertainment to make it a destination. World-ranked Head Golf Professional and Assistant Professional offer private and group lessons and clinics. While the course is on the shorter side, the elevation changes and native grass areas make it challenging and strategic. Pace of play is the focus in every round so pick your tees by average driving distance, use the drop zones if needed, and play "Ready Golf" to keep your round moving. Starters, Rangers, and the Pro Shop staff will keep you well informed on any tips that might be useful for the day.

aerated greens. Not much you can do about that.
Aerated greens, which is all part of golf.Would be nice if golfers would fix their ball marks on the greens.
Waste of time and money
I get a phone call one hour before tee time telling me the aerated the greens. I made the reservation days in advance. I appreciate the phone call, but I would’ve made other arrangements if I would’ve known that in advance. We were the only ones on the course and the maintenance guy with the blower fan decided he was gonna follow us around the whole time. Extremely annoying and I will not be back
Great little course
From tee to green, this course was in great shape! The course is well-manicured and there were no blemishes to note on the greens. The course is not terribly difficult, but they do have fairway bunkers throughout so landing it in the fairway is a priority. Lots of elevation changes.
My only recommendations for improvement are for off the course amenities. The restaurant is closed between 3pm-5pm. We made the turn at 3:30 and were starving! There's not much of a selection in the pro shop either. They don't even have gatorade; just sodas. Oh, and there's no driving range to speak of. Well, there is one but it's hitting wedges off carpet. Don't bother. There is a putting green, though. Overall, it's a great little course and a good deal on the wallet! I will definitely be going back!
Great value
The course was in great shape. The staff was very friendly. Play was fast. Perfect day out.
The course is in great shape and the staff was friendly and helpful as always.
L & M G
The layout is really great. Lots of challenging holes and very scenic. So disappointed with ammenities. Bathroom on course was closed. Not marked very well for a first time player. Yardage very had to determine unless you were on the cart path, and even then the paint is almost worn off. Cart paths needs attention. This course could be spectacular, needs someone to take care of it and make it pretty again.
First time playing
The course was in excellent condition, even for early July. There are well placed bunkers but overall not a difficult course.
Larkin slow play and lack of driving range dampens a great course layout and very good condition
Lack of a legit practice area and often slow play makes Larkin less of a mainstay than it could be. I love the layout and variety of holes. In fact I would make the argument it has one of the best layouts in the area for a public course.
There are two things that really take away from the experience. The fist is the lack of any sort of driving range, small putting area and generally deficient practice facility. The other, common to many of the areas public course is rounds taking more than 4 1/2 hrs.
Hmm
Poor yardage markets - some sand traps need work - if your first time playing here you should probably have someone in the group that has - a few blind shots - also INMO good course manage is key here as this course at times plays like a links course- had a great time and would play it again - I’m a senior player with a true 17 handicap- usually play white tees
