About
The 500 Club (formerly known as Fox Den Country Club and Larkin Golf Club) is a premier entertainment destination for the Lake Norman region. This relaxed club with NASCAR roots provides a laid-back experience, quick pace of play, and plenty of entertainment to make it a destination. World-ranked Head Golf Professional and Assistant Professional offer private and group lessons and clinics. While the course is on the shorter side, the elevation changes and native grass areas make it challenging and strategic. Pace of play is the focus in every round so pick your tees by average driving distance, use the drop zones if needed, and play "Ready Golf" to keep your round moving. Starters, Rangers, and the Pro Shop staff will keep you well informed on any tips that might be useful for the day.

Best Course in the Area
We played this course for the first time this past Sunday, with rain off and on throughout the day. We were pleasantly surprised by how well the course drained and what great shape the greens were in.
Staff went above and beyond with their service. Cart was brought out to the truck before we even got out, loaded our bags, and picked up after our round.
Great value, great experience, great course. We will definitely be back for more!
Always consistent
I’ve been playing Larkin for 2.5 years now and it’s always been in great shape year round. Love the bent greens and they do a fantastic job maintaining them in the summer time. Staff is always friendly. This course has a great layout and is challenging but fair. It’s definitely a hidden gem!
Really nice course
Now that the construction is almost finished this course is nice. The greens were in really good shape and rolled true . This course has some thick rough but you’re not supposed to be over there anyway. I will be back sooner rather than later
GOOD TRACT
Played well - tuff year for bentgrass. Course is recovering well.
Ups and Downs
A very nice course, be careful to select the correct tees. Many up hill holes add yardage you feel but don't see, many downhill holes have trouble if you hit the tee shot too long. If you choose the correct tee, this course becomes a target golf type of course, no need to hit it as far as you can. I personally enjoy target golf more than grip it and rip it type. Early front and early back include some trips through the neighborhood, fairways lined with houses, then before you know it the houses are gone and a gold course emerges.
Tee area: not all that flat
Fairways very nice condition
Rough: Unfortunately Bermuda with the drop to the bottom effect.
Greens: Very nice roll well.
Sand: Well maintained
Hilly Small Town Gem
Course was in excellent shape except that the greens had just been sanded so were a little slow. Nice fairways and smooth greens. It is a fun layout with a variety of shot making required. There is currently a lot of new house construction on the back 9 but the course is still plenty wide for mishit shots. I will be back regularly. It is very hilly and spread out so golf cart is required and a necessity. Off course amenities are closed due to COVID.
Great day on the course
I haven't played in a while, but the course was in great shape and well maintained. The staff is really doing a good job. The greens were a little wet in places as they had just watered several of them. All but one bunker was in good shape.
It wasn't crowded, so pace of play suited me well. I did not have to wait on any hole, nor was I pushed by anyone behind me. I really enjoyed it.
overall
I play the whites because I am 64 and just started to play again. I've played the front 9 twice. Overall course in good shape but greens sure seem to take a beating with many badly repaired ball marks. Par 4s are fun and doable as are the par 3s,. Hole6 the first par 5 is impossible for me because I do not hit long nor do i hit it high. both times i played i found myself with relatively good drives but unable to clear the chasm because of the lack of height on my ball. On hole 8, there is nothing to guide anyone on how far you have to hit to keep it in the fairway.. On hole 7 i could not tell how far the valley stetched. these three holes could use some modification i believe. overall these are minor I like it there and intend to play again
Gold!
Perfect!!! From the moment I pulled in until I left the property I was impressed. It's like three courses in one! Staff is exceptional, and the course matches from tee to green! Do It!
SLOWWWWWWW
3 groups in front of ya playing “captains choice” (best ball typically). Slowest best ball I have ever seen....suppose to speed up pace of play!
No Marshall on the course.
Course conditions were good and the staff were friendly....I just can’t stand waiting 5-7 minutes on every single hole!
Going downhill
I’ve always loved Larkin. It was usually a great value and in good condition. The course is going downhill fast and the greens are awful now.
Great golf day.
The course is in very good condition. the employees are very attentive and helpful. This course is not conducive to walking as the tees are quite far apart from the greens.
Well maintained.Greens are in good shap. Fairways are good.
