The 500 Club
About
The 500 Club (formerly known as Fox Den Country Club and Larkin Golf Club) is a premier entertainment destination for the Lake Norman region. This relaxed club with NASCAR roots provides a laid-back experience, quick pace of play, and plenty of entertainment to make it a destination. World-ranked Head Golf Professional and Assistant Professional offer private and group lessons and clinics. While the course is on the shorter side, the elevation changes and native grass areas make it challenging and strategic. Pace of play is the focus in every round so pick your tees by average driving distance, use the drop zones if needed, and play "Ready Golf" to keep your round moving. Starters, Rangers, and the Pro Shop staff will keep you well informed on any tips that might be useful for the day.

overall
I play the whites because I am 64 and just started to play again. I've played the front 9 twice. Overall course in good shape but greens sure seem to take a beating with many badly repaired ball marks. Par 4s are fun and doable as are the par 3s,. Hole6 the first par 5 is impossible for me because I do not hit long nor do i hit it high. both times i played i found myself with relatively good drives but unable to clear the chasm because of the lack of height on my ball. On hole 8, there is nothing to guide anyone on how far you have to hit to keep it in the fairway.. On hole 7 i could not tell how far the valley stetched. these three holes could use some modification i believe. overall these are minor I like it there and intend to play again
Gold!
Perfect!!! From the moment I pulled in until I left the property I was impressed. It's like three courses in one! Staff is exceptional, and the course matches from tee to green! Do It!
SLOWWWWWWW
3 groups in front of ya playing “captains choice” (best ball typically). Slowest best ball I have ever seen....suppose to speed up pace of play!
No Marshall on the course.
Course conditions were good and the staff were friendly....I just can’t stand waiting 5-7 minutes on every single hole!
Going downhill
I’ve always loved Larkin. It was usually a great value and in good condition. The course is going downhill fast and the greens are awful now.
Great golf day.
The course is in very good condition. the employees are very attentive and helpful. This course is not conducive to walking as the tees are quite far apart from the greens.
Well maintained.Greens are in good shap. Fairways are good.
ALWAYS A GREAT ROUND AT LARKIN GOLF CLUB.
THESE GUYS DO A GREAT JOB WITH THE GREENS HERE. THEY ARE BENT GRASS, HOWEVER THEY DO A GREAT JOB HAND WATERING THE GREENS. THEY ARE CONSISTENT AND TRUE. THE FAIRWAYS ARE LUSH AND FULL.
THE LAYOUT IS NICE. I PLAYED WITH MARK AND KEITH THE GREENS KEEPERS AND WHAT A GREAT BUNCH OF GUYS.....WHO CARE ABOUT WHAT THEY DO. I WILL ALWAYS BE BACK TO PLAY.
Lots of Potential
It was pretty wet today and the greens had just been punched a few days ago. Combined it meant really, really soft and really, really, really slow greens. But when they are dry I’ll bet they will be great. Same for the fairways. Almost no roll which is not normal for August but certainly not the course’s fault.
Recently aerified
The price was great at $25/18 holes. However, there was no heads up that the course was recently aerated and only 9 holes was open. The 9 we did play twice had very slow greens with big ball marks everywhere. Looked like these greens were aerated within the past week. Staff was friendly especially the young cart attendant. We didn’t tee off until after 5:00 and were able to play 18 in under 3 hours...that was best part. Would recommend for the price but would call ahead to verify course conditions
Larkin is always a good time
All of the rain lately had the greens in pretty bad shape. Tough putting. Fairways were in good shape. Always love playing this course. Great layout.
