Larkin
Course was in great condition and staff were friendly. Restaurant doesnt open until 12nso no pre round snack. Range was also closed. Pro shop is very limited but clean. Overall, great value for the money.
Larkin
Nice layout. Some very difficult holes. Greens were consistent on speed/pace. Very friendly staff!
more houses yes, but not slacking off on the course
Clearly amazing watching how the designers aims investors are able to stick so many houses in what use to be wide open woods. So it has become a more neighborhood course, but it’s also well cared for and a nice layout. I can’t beet the value for the quality. Yes a lot of golfers don’t know how to fix a divot, and yes they could use more sand in the bunkers. But I’m still impressed and would recommend the course to a friend.
Great value
Lots of variety in the holes. Smooth bent grass greens. We enjoy playing here and can be very challenging depending on what tees you play. Back tees for serious golfers only
Can’t Beat The Value
I played Larkin for the first time this past weekend on a hot, sunny day. The course had just gotten rain recently and was a bit wet in spots, but extremely well-maintained. It was cart path only which was fine. I was blown away at the care the superintendent and greenskeepers have put into this course. The fairways and greens were a BIT tall, but everything was very well-manicured. The overall layout was very fun and challenging with beatific views and elevation changes. Staff was very friendly and helpful, too! I paid about $23 to play on a course that could easily be in the $50-$60 range. I will DEFINITELY play here again as soon as I can!
5 star course
This was my second time out to Larkin golf club. It’s an outstanding track. The greens are second to none. It’s about 30 minutes north of Charlotte and worth the drive. If you have not been out to this course yet I’d recommend getting out there soon.
Uneven
First, the good. Larkin is in really good condition. The greens were in excellent, but slow, condition. I left countless putts short, as did my playing partners. Fairways were in good shape as well. The price was fair.
Now the not so good. It is a very convoluted routing that seems to have been done primarily to pile as many houses along fairways as possible. Getting to the first tee was a challenge- you drive up the parking lot, turn behind some houses, come to a fork in the cart path, and then just have to guess which way to the first tee. We guessed wrong but eventually figured it out. Some signage would be nice. I'm glad we played with two guys who knew the course, as there are several holes with blind hazards I didn't know were there. Be prepared for some severe sidehill lies. There is no driving range- just a chipping area where you hit your own balls then go pick them up. The layout will probably keep me from coming back.
Always a good course!
Love this course. But, today the pace of play was terrible. We were a threesome behind a VERY slow foursome. Guys had no business playing from the blue tees. Took way too much time between shots. 2.5 hours to play the front nine. Called the clubhouse to complain & their solution was just to play the front nine again. They should have sent somebody out to tell those guys to pick up the pace. But, the course was in great shape as always & it was a nice day to play.
Good value
Lots of elevation change and a few blind shots. Overall very good condition, fairways great, greens pretty good, smooth but a bit slow. Will be back.
Great course. Not much for warmup but great course and great layout. Very mountainous and many changes of elevation.
Great course, but a little too busy
This course is in great condition, I play here often, but with their recent membership program, which is a good deal, it can get too busy. They ran out of carts several times on this day. I have a feeling that people are signing up as singles to get a cart to themselves due to Covid-19. They may need to start restricting that, but otherwise a tough, well kept course.
Good Course
The course was in good shape. Great little layout. The front and back 9 are like playing different courses. The greens were in great shape and only one fringe (#18) that needed help. Would definitely play Larkin again.
