The 500 Club
About
The 500 Club (formerly known as Fox Den Country Club and Larkin Golf Club) is a premier entertainment destination for the Lake Norman region. This relaxed club with NASCAR roots provides a laid-back experience, quick pace of play, and plenty of entertainment to make it a destination. World-ranked Head Golf Professional and Assistant Professional offer private and group lessons and clinics. While the course is on the shorter side, the elevation changes and native grass areas make it challenging and strategic. Pace of play is the focus in every round so pick your tees by average driving distance, use the drop zones if needed, and play "Ready Golf" to keep your round moving. Starters, Rangers, and the Pro Shop staff will keep you well informed on any tips that might be useful for the day.

Poor Experience
Haven’t played Larkin since the name change from Fox Den several years back. Boy has the place changed. The amount of construction going on almost makes it feel as if you aren’t even on a golf course—would not be surprised to see the subdivisions take over the course itself within the next 5-10 years. Upon arrival, after booking a round for a twosome at 4pm, I was made aware that we were being grouped together with another twosome due to a “cart shortage” caused by COVID. I’m still scratching my head on that one. What says social distancing better than paring random groups together? I requested that we be able to play as a twosome but was met with a rather unfriendly “no, that’s just the way it is.” Thankfully, our surprise playing partners were kind enough to allow us to go on as a twosome. In terms of condition, the fairways and tee boxes were quite nice. The greens left much to be desired as they were slow, spongy, and littered with divots and spike marks. Unfortunately, the negatives outweighed the positives at Larkin and I have no plans to return. There are several other options in the local area that are much nicer and have a far friendlier staff.
Great day to play. Greens were holding the correct lines.
torture chamber
course looks good but the reason it looks good is that they fenced off the fairways to cart traffic making it almost impossible to reach a ball lying in the center of the fairway unless you are superman and can fly. i was not able to finish quitting after nine due to dizziness and nearly dying from exhaustion. by the time i came close to finishing the front nine i was playing a dropped ball from the cart path because i could not get to my ball that was in the center of the fairway. if you are going to be open in the summer you cannot be closing the fairways to cart traffic. this was a total waste of time and i will not be going back
Too much
I will not be playing there again on the weekend, the price was too high.
Been a while
I hadn't played Larkin since it was Fox Den when there were no houses lining the first and tenth fairways. That's how long its been. Course was in really good condition (five stars would be a little over the top). Overall its an OK layout with the back being better than the front (holes 6, 7 and 9 are what happens when you run out of real estate but need three more holes to make 18). Overall walked out of there pretty impressed.
Great value for the money
Pace of play a little slow for a very hot day. Greens a little slower than expected, but overall course in phenomenal condition!
JUly 4th 8am golf
the course is in great shape , all greens were in great shape as well . we all enjoyed our round .
Larkin Golf Club
Well designed golf course that is challenging and both forgiving at the same time. Great t box and fairway degree angles. Fast greens at 10mm. Really enjoyed playing this course. Worth every penny!
