This relaxed club with NASCAR roots provides a laid-back experience, quick pace of play, and plenty of entertainment to make it a destination. World-ranked Head Golf Professional and Assistant Professional offer private and group lessons and clinics. While the course is on the shorter side, the elevation changes and native grass areas make it challenging and strategic. Pace of play is the focus in every round so pick your tees by average driving distance, use the drop zones if needed, and play "Ready Golf" to keep your round moving. Starters, Rangers, and the Pro Shop staff will keep you well informed on any tips that might be useful for the day.

One of the best courses around!
Greens were perfect and the entire course was in great condition. Always a good time playing here.
Excellent staff.
The lock and staff is always extremely helpful and courteous.
Good round
Another good round at Larkin, the layout of this course is challenging and unassuming. Pace of play was slow for the front nine and quick for the back,. I will definitely recommend and I’ll be back
Larkin Golf Club
Played Larkin today. They were observing some social distancing rules (max 5 people in the clubhouse at any one time, no pencils on the carts), but at the same time they still had bunker rakes out and divot bottles on the carts. Construction continues along 11, 12 and 15. It's a shame, as the 12-15 stretch down in the valley used to be a neat little secluded part of the course, but the houses are now encroaching on that. We were sent off the back as they were doing some maintenance on the front. They were topdressing the greens on the front, but the sand didn't affect the greens at all. Greens were in fairly good shape, not the best I've seen around this spring, but certainly acceptable. Fairways were in great shape, as were most teeboxes. A couple of boxes in shady areas were a little thin. The bunkers were probably the worst aspect of the course. The sand was hard packed in most of them. Pace of play was good; our twosome made it around in 3:10.
Great Course
Course was beautiful. It was just aearated which put a damper on my putting. But for the value, I’ve never seen a better combination of trees, brush, water, and fairway. Just beautiful. Lots of elevation changes.
4/9/20
Staff is the friendliest group of people. The bring the cart to you when you show up and, amidst the situation that is going on these days, pick up the cart. The course is a pretty course. One tee box was being worked on so the grounds grew came over and flattened the dirt. Fairways were good and greens rolled true. I’d definitely come back!
One of the best courses in the area
Greens were recently plugged which made putting tough but the course was in great condition overall. Great layout.
Ehh
We booked online after it had been recommended by friends. Booked our tee time and drove about an hour to play this course. Once we walked in we notice the “Greens were just Aerated.” This would’ve been a great piece of information to share prior to driving an hour. Range is 90yds that allows only wedges, hitting off mats. I may go again late spring early summer for the right rate, layout is pretty good with a lot of construction surrounding the course so be prepared for that noise and some off-road paths on the back 9.
Fun course
Challenge today was the greens they had just been Aerated and sanded so you had no idea where the ball would end up.
Greens are aerated heavily ...almost unplayable
I always loved play here..until today.... I know the greens have to be aerated frrom time to time to maintain good condition..but full green fee when the greens are almost unplayable?
At least, they should have told me when I made the reservation...
Fun Layout
Larkin is a nice change-of-pace option from the normal rotation of Charlotte or Greensboro/Winston-Salem courses. It's a quirky but fun layout with a lot of fun holes that require a wide variety of shots. With it still being in the offseason, conditions were pretty wet and soggy, but the greens rolled well. It's partially a neighborhood course which kinda stinks, but mostly a fun layout (especially the final six holes). No range, but they have a couple of warm up nets and a nice putting green. Will definitely be back again.
OVERALL: 6.5/10
Great Course, Construction Sucks
Overall a fun course to play. The course conditions and greens were in good shape given the time of year, and I look forward to playing here again in the summer.
The bad thing about this course is a developer purchased the course and the surrounding land, so housing is being built and it takes away from the serenity of golf (for those of us out there to enjoy quiet). If it weren't for the construction, I would definitely play again sooner and more often.
One of the best courses in the area!
Always a good time at Larkin. Chilly day but the course was in great condition for this time of the year. Was able to get in 27 holes at a great pace.
Playing in February
With all the rain the course has received since December it’s in pretty good condition
A shell of its former self
This was a good course when it was Fox Den. Now there is no driving range and we couldn’t even get a hot dog to eat at the turn.
Apparently, they now have a Sunday brunch - but only a Sunday brunch and no other options. Seriously I don’t think I’ve ever been to a course where you couldn’t buy anything to eat.
The course has lost almost all of its character since they have chopped down all the trees and built houses everywhere.
Very disappointing.
A lot of soggy places
Course was in fair shape after some rain however a lot of places in the fairways do not drain very well leaving very soggy places , so you must try to pick the ball or you'll leave a very muddy divot . Greens are in excellent condition.
