Great late Fall Golf
The course was brown because of Bermuda grass but the fairways were in good shape and the bent grass greens were in great shape. The greens are fast but ran true I look forward to playing here again
Best value for the money. Great condition.
Really enjoy playing this course. Love the layout. It is a golf course for all level of players. Larkin is always in great condition. They appreciate your business. The staff is always professional.
10th hole finally open
Course is excellent shape now. The 10th hole is finally open as a par 3, so the course is a par 70.
The pace of play was very slow but this is understandable for the day after a holiday. The course needs to get holes 10 and 11 in shape playing to their normal par which affected the overall rating. I have played this course many times and feel sure that once those holes are opened to their normalized par it will be much improved. Range facilities are extremely limited but still a great value for the money.
challenging Golf Course
There are a few dog legs also a few narrow driving holes and a few blind shots. But overall this course is in excellent condition. I would recommend this course
10 is open again
Tenth hole is open again. It's a par three over the water until the tee boxes are ready but at least it's open. 11 is now a par four until the widened fairway is grown in. Conditions are excellent. I play here often. It can get a little slow on weekends but what course isn't. This course is the best value you'll find for what you get.
Best 17 holes in area for the buck!
Conditions were perfect! If you hit it where it's supposed to be u can score. Greens roll smooth and will accept a well played shot. The rough will swallow the ball. But you can hit from it. Can't wait till 10 reopens and we can see the course back to normal. Best value in golf...period.
Great Value, Great Course
This course was extremely surprising for the money and location. Located in South Statesville, near Troutman, this course is nestled in a lovely home community with clean cut fairways, medium thick roughs, and smooth greens. The balls stuck hard to the greens and the putts rolled semi-fast. It was almost perfect. The greens do not have much slope to them so that makes the short game a little easier. There are plenty of challenges, however, including water, sand, and trees. Don't forget about the houses! When we arrived, a golf assistant drove a cart to meet us at our vehicle. The pro-shop/checkin was in a difficult place and was hard to find (downstairs at the back of the clubhouse) and there were no signs directing people. There also was one hole (10) under construction, which they provided a 2.00 discount for. The cart paths were nice and there were great views. For a mid-October play, this course is in great condition. It also appears that they re-seeded/fertilized about 6 weeks ago which helped in the overall appearance. A great course.
Great condition!
Course is as good as it’s ever been. Once they get their 10th and 11th hole back it’ll be top notch!
May be the best conditions in the Southern Piedmont. Greens are immaculate and the fairways are in phenomenal shape. The rough is a little deep, but not totally unfair. After all, if you miss the fairway there should be a penalty. Several holes where you can leave the driver in the bag. Overall you will have a great time at this course and the conditions warrant a much higher green fee
Worth Playing even now.
Haven't played this course since it was Fox Den which I liked then. Got a chance to play it Friday after work and in my opinion the course conditions and layout is the best in 75 mile radius and I don't care in which direction you go.(I'm from Charlotte). Just like most people have stated when they get hole #10 and #11 back this course is going to be back in my top 10. I try to play different courses on the weekends traveling to SC GA and NC looking for nice courses and good rates but Larkin is going to be hard to beat. Great Job Larkin Staff.
Best condition of any course I've played
Course is in amazing condition and has been all summer long. Staff is very friendly. Price is great. I can't say one negative thing about the course or my experience.
Layout is Awesome
The layout of this course is awesome, the greens and fairways are in excellent shape. Once they get hole 10 and the rest of hole 11 open other courses better lookout. The only complaint I have is that the Bermuda rough was so deep that if you hit a ball in it forget it. They really need to cut that rough down some. I had played this course many years ago when it was Fox Den. I didn't remember the layout being so cool though. This is one of my favorite layouts of courses in the area minus hole 10 and half of hole 11 being closed. Hopefully they will get those holes open ASAP. I can't wait to play it again when they have that sorted out. Another important thing to me is how many water bottles are on the course. They have one about every three holes so that to me was fantastic. Staff is great and friendly too, when I pulled up a person from the club house pulled up to my car with a cart. I didn't have to go to them.
Great course and probably the friendliest staff I've seen. Nice greens, reads true. The rough was a bit tall and made chipping quite interesting. Still missing hole #10 and a driving range. They did have a area for chipping and putting. Except for those two things, I really enjoyed this course, can't wait until hole #10 opens.
Outstanding condition
Other than 17 holes because of construction, course condition was outstanding. Other than Mooresville this is my favorite course.
Great course
This course is in excellent condition. For the money it is well worth giving it a try.
