Back 9 Fox Den loved the course. Photo submitted by Cameron5175 on 10/12/2013
Golfer Reviews
May be the best conditions in the Southern Piedmont. Greens are immaculate and the fairways are in phenomenal shape. The rough is a little deep, but not totally unfair. After all, if you miss the fairway there should be a penalty. Several holes where you can leave the driver in the bag. Overall you will have a great time at this course and the conditions warrant a much higher green fee
Worth Playing even now.
Haven't played this course since it was Fox Den which I liked then. Got a chance to play it Friday after work and in my opinion the course conditions and layout is the best in 75 mile radius and I don't care in which direction you go.(I'm from Charlotte). Just like most people have stated when they get hole #10 and #11 back this course is going to be back in my top 10. I try to play different courses on the weekends traveling to SC GA and NC looking for nice courses and good rates but Larkin is going to be hard to beat. Great Job Larkin Staff.
Best condition of any course I've played
Course is in amazing condition and has been all summer long. Staff is very friendly. Price is great. I can't say one negative thing about the course or my experience.
Layout is Awesome
The layout of this course is awesome, the greens and fairways are in excellent shape. Once they get hole 10 and the rest of hole 11 open other courses better lookout. The only complaint I have is that the Bermuda rough was so deep that if you hit a ball in it forget it. They really need to cut that rough down some. I had played this course many years ago when it was Fox Den. I didn't remember the layout being so cool though. This is one of my favorite layouts of courses in the area minus hole 10 and half of hole 11 being closed. Hopefully they will get those holes open ASAP. I can't wait to play it again when they have that sorted out. Another important thing to me is how many water bottles are on the course. They have one about every three holes so that to me was fantastic. Staff is great and friendly too, when I pulled up a person from the club house pulled up to my car with a cart. I didn't have to go to them.
Great course and probably the friendliest staff I've seen. Nice greens, reads true. The rough was a bit tall and made chipping quite interesting. Still missing hole #10 and a driving range. They did have a area for chipping and putting. Except for those two things, I really enjoyed this course, can't wait until hole #10 opens.
Outstanding condition
Other than 17 holes because of construction, course condition was outstanding. Other than Mooresville this is my favorite course.
Great course
This course is in excellent condition. For the money it is well worth giving it a try.
Love this course
Great course it will be amazing once they finish the course upgrades.
Awesome people and beautiful course!
Definitely worth the hot deal time cost of $14 (plus $3 convenience fee). The people at the course were some of the friendliest I have encountered in quite a while. The course was in excellent shape. Hole #10 was closed, but we still got our moneys worth. Definitely will be back!
Course was in great shape. Best bent grass greens around. Fairways plush and rough fair. Even with the temporary closing of 1 1/2 holes, definitely one of the best conditioned courses around.
Played only 17 holes, #10 closed for construction
Enjoyed the course except that #10 closed due construction of new homes and #11 played as a par 3 from 150 yards out because the tees on this par4 was closed by the construction.
Great value
Great course, great value. Can't wait till they open #10 and change #11 to a par 4.
Wonderful place to play
The layout and conditions at this course are spectacular. It's like a course the pros would play on. It has great fairways and rough. The greens are perfect. This is a place to play if you really want to see how good you are.
Larkin Golf Course
Although there are only seventeen holes open for the time being, this course is in very nice condition. The greens are true with little or no damage, only unfixed ball marks.
You must choose the right club off the boxes, there are quite a few holes where hitting driver is a bad idea!! Challenging Par 5's!!
Not far from Mooresville!
Nice 17 holes
This course plays as a 17 hole course as #10 is being rebuilt. Course is in very good condition, greens slightly slow but true. Staff very friendly. Well worth the drive from Charlotte.
Great Course
Friendly staff, a lot of construction around but didn't even notice the course was in excellent condition! I loved my round!
This is a seventeen hole course. Hole #10 is getting renovated. The range is a chipping area with the furthest flag at 80 yards, mats and a net for "longer clubs". Also the "range balls" are free located in a empty trash bin with mud and grass caked on each ball. Holes one and ten are far from the club house, and getting to them was a series of arrows and gravel paths. But while playing the layout of the course was good except the closed hole. Greens were soft and carried good speed and the grounds were well maintained. The pace of play was extremely slow, the starter we saw a few times but did nothing to speed up the group that was two holes ahead. Then heavy rain/thunderstorms stopped us from finishing the round (only played 14).
Good Round
Course was wet from all the rain but played well. With #10 closed, i wish they would take #11 and move it to a par 4 instead of the par 3 they shortened it into.
Overall very satisfied with course conditions and greens. Staff as always was very friendly and helpful.
