The 500 Club
About
The 500 Club (formerly known as Fox Den Country Club and Larkin Golf Club) is a premier entertainment destination for the Lake Norman region. This relaxed club with NASCAR roots provides a laid-back experience, quick pace of play, and plenty of entertainment to make it a destination. World-ranked Head Golf Professional and Assistant Professional offer private and group lessons and clinics. While the course is on the shorter side, the elevation changes and native grass areas make it challenging and strategic. Pace of play is the focus in every round so pick your tees by average driving distance, use the drop zones if needed, and play "Ready Golf" to keep your round moving. Starters, Rangers, and the Pro Shop staff will keep you well informed on any tips that might be useful for the day.

Front nine is hilly..back nine is in a valley...beautiful!
The course is mostly open and fun...there are two long holes that go up and down and are blind shots, like a links course ..other then that it's very fun.
I've played here before and the course is in great shape and this is the best value for a course of this caliber anywhere that I play
I play 2 times a week and I've played here probably 6 times I play the Jackson Course and have played the Jones course at Rock Barn they are both good courses but I prefer the Jackson it just fits me better and I also like Brushy Mountian
Tough little course
A very undulating course overall; lots of hills and slopes and not too many flat lies. You have to layup on most par 5's unless you're driving 280 and or can hit your 3-5 wood long and straight. Par 4's are longer and most of my second shots were around 150-170 out. Par 3's were the easiest part of the course I think. Greens were beautiful, very soft, and had good speed. If you're not in the fairway; you're in trouble on this course as you can lose your ball in the first cut because it drops down into this grass. Forget about getting a good shot on the ball! Overall very nice course if you want to be challenged. I will go again!
the course has a great layout.
When I arrived, the attendant appeared disinterested. I saw players paying, and told to take cart and go to the range. When I payed for range balls, I was told to drive our car to the range. My wife and noticed a difference in his attitude.
Challenging Course
Fun but challenging golf course!
Must be precise off the tee to post a good score.
Courses cant be scared of golfers!
Perhaps, its because I am getting older but I have little patience with people that dont play "ready" golf.
Why cant courses ask people when they check in, do you play "ready" golf? If they say no, give them a few pointers to speed up their play. For example, if you just hit your best drive ever 240 yards, its HIGHLY unlikely you are going to hit the green on the Par 5 from 260 yards. Lay up!
This wasnt the slowest experience Ive ever had at Fox Den, but it came close. The ranger was out, but it was evident to me that nothing was said to the slower players. We waited on every shot on the back 9.
I dont play as often as I would like for the simple fact that people play WAY too slow for me.
Great features, in a nice area
Greens were nice to putt on, fairways in good shape
Great value
Rained a lot prior to play, but course drained well. Course was in great shape, especially the greens. Rough was penalizing. This was the first time I played the course and I was pleasantly surprised with the layout and the condition. I will definitely play again.
Challenging course
This course was challenging for a novice golfer like myself. The first few holes were fine, but after the 6th hole it became quite apparent I would need to bring more balls to continue playing!! Had a great time though. Will return!
Well maintained
This course is always well maintained. Has excellent views, challenging holes and is not high priced. One of my favorites.
Greens were superb, great value
We played late morning on a Friday and it only took 4.25 hours to play. The greens were plush and smooth. Best I have played in the area this year. My only disappointment was the driving range and the range balls. That kept it from being a 5 star.
very nice course
Very nice and maintaned course beautiful lady's working there selling beer and snacks
A FAIR VALUE FOR UNDER $30
Greens are fair at best. Don't expect a staff that is going to greet you with open arms. Range balls are horrible not one that was the same make or model. mostly scuffs and cuts. Fair layout with a variety of holes. I would call it maintained but not proactively cared for. Slowly deterreating
Great Shape for such a Wet Day
Played this course many times and it has always been in great shape. Played 04/29/2013 just after a significant rain fall and was pleasantly surprised at the condition of the course. Although there are several low lying holes, course was still very playable after all that rain. Greens are awesome as always.
Great course for the $
We played after 2 solid days of rain. Course drains very good and was playable when others were not.
Greens were in good shape and rolled pretty well even after tons of rain.
Get out and play this course if you have not yet.
Great value for the $, challenging holes and nice views...
The course offers great views and holes for all skill levels.
This is my third time playing this course. It is a good course for the price you pay. As the warmer weather continues the course will get in better shape.
Course doesn't drain well.
Disappointed that I wasn't told the greens were aeratedl Rain three days ago created cart paths only with a lot of walking on the back nine. Made it extremely slow playing. Don't go here after it rains.
Good course with nice variety of holes.
This course was a great deal. I've played other courses in the Statesville area but this one is the best course for the money I've played in this area. The greens had been recently aerated so it was hard to judge them. The rough was not too penal. I especially liked the green areas-plenty of grass to chipp off of. I will definitely play here again next time I'm in this area.
This course is an all around great deal!
I have played this course multiple times and will continue to do so. It has three sections of hole layouts I believe. Strait forward, wooded and narrow, and water holes which makes this a great couse of multiple challenges. the greens are fantastic to say the least. It is a fun course and an excellent course for the cost. The staff in the pro shop, the starter, the marshal and in the restaurant are very friendly and give you the feeling that they really do appreciat you being there. I live about 30 miles from this course and have many other courses with in minutes from my home but will continue to play this course when ever I am able to do so.
Best greens all year round!!
Greens keeper should get a raise!! Always excellent and
the rest of the course is godd as well.
