The 500 Club
About
The 500 Club (formerly known as Fox Den Country Club and Larkin Golf Club) is a premier entertainment destination for the Lake Norman region. This relaxed club with NASCAR roots provides a laid-back experience, quick pace of play, and plenty of entertainment to make it a destination. World-ranked Head Golf Professional and Assistant Professional offer private and group lessons and clinics. While the course is on the shorter side, the elevation changes and native grass areas make it challenging and strategic. Pace of play is the focus in every round so pick your tees by average driving distance, use the drop zones if needed, and play "Ready Golf" to keep your round moving. Starters, Rangers, and the Pro Shop staff will keep you well informed on any tips that might be useful for the day.

Great Course, Pro Shoo Staff, Not So Much
My friend had an issue booking the round and they booked pm instead of an am time. That kinda thing happens but the guy in the pro shop didn’t know we could hear and called us douche bags for no reason.
You get what you pay for
First off. The course layout is fun. Lots of difficult elevation. Lots of water hazards. It’s an enjoyable layout. If only the fairways were well
Manicured. If only the cart paths weren’t like driving through a bomb torn country road. If only they had ANY snack bar at all. No drink cart. The restaurant isn’t connected to the course and was completely clueless about what they did and did not even offer.
I won’t go back.
But it was cheap if you booked online under $40 for 18 holes. Oh and no gps to catch you driving on the course wrong
Excellent course
They just aerated so the course condition was to be expected. That being said, the staff was awesome and the course is gorgeous. Definitely coming back
Great shape
Played a quick nine after work and as always the staff was very friendly and helpful. A young man brought a cart to my truck and picked it up when I was finished. Course was well kept and the greens were great. Will be back
So much potential
This course needs some $$$, TLC and course management. Of course adding those elements would probably double the cost per round. I wanted to like this course more but the conditions of the greens, cart paths, traps and clubhouse facility were lacking. The layout is nice. The views and elevation changes are great. Homes don’t encroach on play. It’s things like the lack of repaired ball marks on the greens, poor signage on the tee boxes and pretty rough cart paths that detract from the experience. This course holds SO much potential. As for value, it was priced appropriately, given the conditions, and had tee times available a week in advance on a Saturday morning.
GREAT condition
Course is looking great. Tee boxes to greens, perfect.
Very good condition
I found very good greens and fairways, although the greens seemed a bit slow and sticky. Some significant undulation in some fairways. There is no real driving range, just a small warm up area. I did not see the restaurant. I will not hesitate to return.
Getting Better
Course improved since I last played several months ago. Hopefully a sign of things to come.
In great shape
The course is in great shape. The greens were smooth, and the fairways properly mowed. Even the areas of rough have been recently mowed and prepared. I had a great time.
Mostly good...
Staff was confused and gave the group in front of us in the pro shop our time. Not a big deal because they weren’t busy. The helper out front didn’t know where the starting 10th tee was. Some signage about where this or that hole is would be helpful. The wedge only driving range was closed. The restaurant was closed. The snack selection was weak. Course was in great shape, 1-9 better than 10-18. Need to post a yardage in 10 about where the hazard starts because you can’t see it from the tee and we hadn’t played before. Nice course for the money but would be much better with a few tweaks.
Fun course with elevation changes
The front nine there are some holes that are really fun with some nice elevation changes. Greens are nice there are some dead spots from some divisors but all in all a really fun, fairly open course. I wouldn’t say you’re gonna find every ball if you’re a beginner but I had a lot of fun coming to this course without knowing anything. There are a few holes that have long uphill battles and downhill hazards but I had a great time playing.
Three courses in one round, great golf
Larkin is one of my favorites. With 6 mountain type course holes, and 6 typical piedmont holes and 6 flat holes like at the coast or Florida the variety is a treat.
Nice bent greens will hold the ball, and you even get to repair ball marks unlike the Zoya and Bermuda greens in the area.
