The 500 Club
About
The 500 Club (formerly known as Fox Den Country Club and Larkin Golf Club) is a premier entertainment destination for the Lake Norman region. This relaxed club with NASCAR roots provides a laid-back experience, quick pace of play, and plenty of entertainment to make it a destination. World-ranked Head Golf Professional and Assistant Professional offer private and group lessons and clinics. While the course is on the shorter side, the elevation changes and native grass areas make it challenging and strategic. Pace of play is the focus in every round so pick your tees by average driving distance, use the drop zones if needed, and play "Ready Golf" to keep your round moving. Starters, Rangers, and the Pro Shop staff will keep you well informed on any tips that might be useful for the day.

Getting Better
Course improved since I last played several months ago. Hopefully a sign of things to come.
In great shape
The course is in great shape. The greens were smooth, and the fairways properly mowed. Even the areas of rough have been recently mowed and prepared. I had a great time.
Mostly good...
Staff was confused and gave the group in front of us in the pro shop our time. Not a big deal because they weren’t busy. The helper out front didn’t know where the starting 10th tee was. Some signage about where this or that hole is would be helpful. The wedge only driving range was closed. The restaurant was closed. The snack selection was weak. Course was in great shape, 1-9 better than 10-18. Need to post a yardage in 10 about where the hazard starts because you can’t see it from the tee and we hadn’t played before. Nice course for the money but would be much better with a few tweaks.
Fun course with elevation changes
The front nine there are some holes that are really fun with some nice elevation changes. Greens are nice there are some dead spots from some divisors but all in all a really fun, fairly open course. I wouldn’t say you’re gonna find every ball if you’re a beginner but I had a lot of fun coming to this course without knowing anything. There are a few holes that have long uphill battles and downhill hazards but I had a great time playing.
Three courses in one round, great golf
Larkin is one of my favorites. With 6 mountain type course holes, and 6 typical piedmont holes and 6 flat holes like at the coast or Florida the variety is a treat.
Nice bent greens will hold the ball, and you even get to repair ball marks unlike the Zoya and Bermuda greens in the area.
Golf buffet
If you like mountain courses, or rolling hill piedmont courses or flat out creekside flood plain golf, you get six holes of each at Larkin. Nice big bent grass greens, clean sand, and plush Bermuda everything else. Folks are super friendly, so pack a sandwich and book a time, you will love it
Larkin
The course was in good shape but the greens were ridiculously slow.
Good layout and conditions, no staff anywhere
Larkin is a nice local course, challenging and fun. I played on a Friday and the course was backed up with groups. There is never any staff member on the course moving play along. I fully understand the poor rating for amenities, there are none.
LGC
Course in good shape lots of fun too play all holes are different from easy to hard. Have a nice round.
Great time @ the course
I had a great time. The course was in very good shape, the staff was friendly, and the pace of play was excellent.
I would recommend this course to others regardless of their particular skill. There are holes that are straight forward, and some that are challenging.
Par Excellance
Everything about the place was spot on!!! Great play. Course beautiful challenging but doable. Daughter hadn’t played in almost 10 years Did great! Thanxxxxx everyone.
Good value for the money
Another great round at Larkin. Staff is always friendly and the course layout makes you choose clubs wisely.
Best Course so far.
For a beginner, I've tried about 13 courses. This was one of the few that kept the course in pristine condition. Very challenging for a beginner, but pushes you to only get better.
