About
The 500 Club (formerly known as Fox Den Country Club and Larkin Golf Club) is a premier entertainment destination for the Lake Norman region. This relaxed club with NASCAR roots provides a laid-back experience, quick pace of play, and plenty of entertainment to make it a destination. World-ranked Head Golf Professional and Assistant Professional offer private and group lessons and clinics. While the course is on the shorter side, the elevation changes and native grass areas make it challenging and strategic. Pace of play is the focus in every round so pick your tees by average driving distance, use the drop zones if needed, and play "Ready Golf" to keep your round moving. Starters, Rangers, and the Pro Shop staff will keep you well informed on any tips that might be useful for the day.

First Time Leaving A Course Before The Round Ended
All I can say about this course is that I have NEVER left a course early for any reason. However, my dad and I turned the cart around and left after the 12th hole due to the pace of play being unbearable as wait times between swings (yes, swings) was almost 5-6 minutes.
To give my humble opinion some credibility, I play at least one new course every weekend for at least 10-11 months out of each year consistently and travel all over North and South Carolina. I will admit patience in all aspects of life, for me, is a bit of an ongoing work in progress but this waiting on the course would test even the most patient.
Our tee time was set for 11am and they did not get us started until about 12pm, with a caravan of groups waiting to tee off. As you can imagine with that type of start, the waiting time gradually built up. To add insult to injury, there was not ONE ranger seen during the entire time on the course!
I will never come back to this course, even if it wasn’t a 45 minute drive one way. I wish I could at least get my money back because I will never get my time back.
Good layout, wet day
Challenging layout.
Lots of rain the day before. Front 9 drains well, but some puddling on the back.
I don’t hit well from a wet fairway, so a little frustrating personally.
Astonishingly, they are still building houses here.
It’s hard to get past the lack of a full driving range, but it’s still a nice course to play.
Even though it rained on and off through the first nine the fairways were rolling very well. The greens were very quick.
Larkin Golf Course
Staff are always friendly. I played 4/1/22 and as expected fairways are dormant. Pleasantly surprised of green conditions. Greens are being well kept. Decent speed, I have played here a few times a year for the past 10 years and the green speed has always been very slow. Improvement there for my foursome.
But range is short wedge only.
Good Course - Depending on the day
Pace of play can definitely be a problem, older foursomes all over the place that take their time. Course layout is fun and scorable. Pretty good condition most of the time especially for the price. Like going here every now and then!
Larkin 3/30/22
I’ve grown to like this course over the past few weeks. It’s definitely in good condition for this time of year. Fairways and greens were well maintained. Greens are running pretty fast even though it was wet. The bunkers had sufficient amounts of sand unlike other courses nearby.
The one thing I wish they had was a better clubhouse with a full bar.
I really enjoyed my round at Larkin. Course is in great shape and I like the variety of golf holes in the course layout. One of my favorites in this area
Very playable
Early season golf so the Bermuda is still dormant but very playable and greens were smooth with nice speed. Lots of variety to the holes. Fun course
Larkin is worth playing
Nice layout. Good combination of wide open fairways and challenging holes. Don't miss the fairway...will be working hard to make par.
Fun Time
Course was a bit wet in places, but in good shape. The greens were fast, so downhill putts were a bit tricky. This was the 1st time I've played since Nov, 2021. Had a great time.
Great Value, really good track
Beat course for the buck, interesting lay out conditions pretty good for the time of year. Well worth the trip from Huntersville.
Crowded for a Monday afternoon
Nice course, fun to play. Single went off at 12pm played 6 holes fairly quickly then it was a logjam. only played 15 holes because it was cold and windy. But good value for the price and fun course to play. Would play again on a warmer day
3 courses in one round
If you like typical Piedmont Carolina, tracks, mountain courses and Florida flat land courses, you get 6 holes of each at Larkin. With bent grass greens that will putt true and hold your approach shot.
This is my favorite close by course.
