Winding Creek Golf Club
About
Winding Creek Golf Club in Thomasville is an 18-hole municipal course that is one of the most affordable rounds in the area. It is a regulation-length layout that measures 6,367 yards from the tips. The design is a true target-golf test that is player friendly enough for beginners but will also challenge more advanced players. The golf course is perched atop one of the highest points in Davidson County. From elevated tees and greens you can enjoy dramatic views as well as some intimidating shots. It's a golf course that will most likely have you using every club in your bag. Though there is plenty of variety, the course isn't too formidable for high handicappers. In addition to the golf course, Winding Creek also has a putting green and driving range that you can use for warming up.

Great course staff is awesome and will help you get grouped if you come alone and it’s a hilly course but nice to play I wouldn’t walk this course.
4 sets of fivesomes
First off was the staff. He was so rude!!! Told him about the fivesome and he said he didn’t care. It took 2 of us 5 1/2 hours to play the round. Snack bar food was aweful also. NEVER AGAIN!!!
Challenging Course
The greens were in outstanding condition. The whole course was in great shape. I used some golf now rewards and got a free round. What a bargain. I would spend the money for green fees here though, this course is sweet.
All around great golf course
The golf course is a fun and challenging course to play. Very hilly, it can remind you of a mountain course. Greens are kept up very well, much better than most including the more pricey courses. The rate is great, with twilight fees starting earlier than most, especially in the winter. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Great layout with blind shots, hills, valleys, a pond and a creek. Minimal sand bunkers and beautiful scenery.
1st time at this course
My wife and I really enjoyed this course. It was slightly drizzling rain but was still able to play without the course conditions changing a lot. A few tee boxes to green were confusing. We did get slightly discouraged due to a mower following us mowing at the end of #5, all through #6 and the beginning of #7. All-in-all, it is a good course and my wife and I will definitely return to play.
Golf course
I love playing this course . Can't beat the price for the expierence. I have played this course many times and will continue. I have never seen a time when the greens were not in good shape when several other places greens lost.
Double Dog Legs , Blind Shots
Nice course, full of double dog legs and blind shots. Other than target nice place. I wouldn't go back because of layout. Just wasn't for me is all.
Soaking Wet
Well I'm just a tad confused. The golf course is a really good layout but for the life of me I can't figure out why the entire course was wet and muddy as it hasn't rained for 10 days.
Rough and fairways needed to be cut as there was no roll.
Collars of numerous greens were extremely wet and if you hit short, the ball would literally die right there.
If the maintenance crew could ever figure out how much water to put on the course, it would be a very fair test.
Great course for the price
Course was in pretty good condition
Winding Creek Golf Club
Played Winding Creek for the first time on Sunday. It checks most of the boxes you would use to define 'muni.' This isn't a bad thing, per se. You have to traverse your way down a couple of narrow roads and past a church to get to it. There was the normal Sunday morning group getting ready to go out, and the pro shop staff did a great job in getting me out in front of them. I had the course open and to myself for the rest of the round.
There is a putting green outside the pro shop and a driving range towards the back of the parking lot.
Course knowledge will definitely help you out here, as there are definitely 'hit it here, not there' places on this course. The overriding theme of the course are that there are no flat spots anywhere, with the exception of tee boxes. Every lie in the fairway will be either uphill downhill, or side hill. The same goes for the rough as well. There is a fair amount of elevation change on the course, and quite a few doglegs. Some holes cut through trees, while others are exposed, almost links-like. A creek comes into play on the 2nd hole, and a pond on the 16th. Those are the only two water hazards on the course. The teeboxes were OK to a little shaggy. Fairways had plenty of grass on them. There were a few areas in the rough where large sections of turf had been replaced. There were also uncollected grass clippings in the rough, but they did not affect play at all. The rough was thick enough to be a hindrance, but not thick enough where you could not find your ball. The greens are fairly large and undulating. They had been punched fairly recently, so it was tough to tell how well they rolled, but they seemed to be a little above average as muni greens go. The bunkers were very well maintained and had plenty of soft sand in them.
Good place to get out and play
Had a great time playing this course. Greens were in very good condition, fairways were in good condition. Course has had lots of rain recently and is wet in places. Would advise anyone staying in the Greensboro area make the drive to play Winding Creek.
course has a lot of onjulation and slopes, good layout.
For the money it's worth playing, not expensive as a lot of courses in area. I highly recommend it to play. Bang for the buck! Pace of play is good, and slower players let you go ahead of them. Round took about 4 hrs with a captain choice tournament going on.
They don't appreciate it enough!
The course layout was awkward but the holes were challenging. They criss-cross making for some dangerous driving and dodging incoming drives. All in all if the greens would of been cut the day of play I would say great course. But as it played the greens were slow overplayed and FULL of ball marks. Nothing makes me more frustrated than ball marks. Own it people! If you hit and damage the green, repair it.. the course is not there for just you, but this course had a bigger problem divots, out of the green.. if you have ever done this, do me and the rest of the world a favor... quit the game and get some anger management classes, please. When I told management they seemed like it was normal, and rolled his eyes. All the negative aside I will play it again. It is worth a second round.
Tough Gem
I picked this course for the price but was thrilled with my round. Course will challenge first time players as myself as there are no flat lies on the course aside from the tee boxes! Also most shots are blind off the tee ! Still I came away impressed by the conditions of fairways and greens. Fellow players could not have been any more helpful as several groups let me play through as a single. Staff was great as well.h
Winding Creek Golf Course
As usual a fun place to play. I enjoyed my round.
A Value Course
This was a great course for the cost. It had a lot of rolling hills with sloping fairways. It was a nice layout. Some of the greens were kind of small but I will play this course again.
The course has some challenging fairways
Overall is OK. Good for the price.
Doesn't drain very well so after rain it's soggy in places for awhile.
average golf course
The course is in fair shape for the weather that has been here. The golf pro here is very rude and is hardly ever on the course. If he is ever on site he must be hiding. The pace of play is slow and no one in the club house really gives a hoot. The other staff has no idea how to operate a golf club facility. The snacks are extremely over priced.
