Santa Anita Golf Course

Course conditions were not worth $60. No benefit to hitting it in the fairway, greens were not in good condition at all.

First time playing at Santa Anita. The course was in great condition and pace of play was non stop.

I love the rolling hills and the course layout too.

I look forward to playing SA again.

When I booked, there was obviously the same price for walking or karting at $20.

The staff was friendly, but she said that the price was different even if I explained it.

When I tried to book again last evening, the site also showed the same price. It's hard to trust the site.

The tees were all the back so it stretched it out. I played with some long ball hitters and they loved it! Me not so much...The course was under some repair which is good to see. All in all it was a good time as always at Santa Anita.

The people who work there and the people who are regulars are so friendly. I definitely recommend anyone try at least one round. The bunkers may catch you off guard (they stole my ball similar to getting robbed of a home run) but it’s so pleasant and enjoyable.

People talk about the course based on their experience long time ago. This course is quite challenging due to the following reasons:

Firstly, greens are crown-shaped or elevated and mostly small. Once you miss the green, you SHOULD concentrate on your chipping or pitching shots cause you can hardly find grass in the greenside or your shots will be made on dirt. However, greens are well maintained along with up and downs.

Secondly, most fairways are rolling or with mounds blocking your vision of the green in front of them and grasses are not even due to poor management. Hence, your club angle changes when placing it behind a ball. Your swing plane will change, too. Accordingly, good shot-making is not easy.

Last bit not least, total yardage doesn't look to be long but this is a par 71 course.

Overall, I will go there again when I feel my condition is excellent. Go there and test your skills. It's not easy to reserve a tee-time after members and residents take tee-times.

My Dad Golfed here for 45 years he would get up at 4:40 am to get a tee time for the following week . Now I know why Long fairways awesomely maintained Greens and the view of the San Gabriel Mountains.
