My first Hole in one!
The course was in great shape. played a little slow, but I was in a great mood after hitting a hole in one with a 9 iron on the par 3, 133 yard 4th hole!
1st Round 2017
Wet conditions were a little messy but course is in good shape and enjoyed the course and it's challenging design.. I'll be back for a rematch soon.
Good lay out
Good course nice rolling fairways new management taking over all ready started to update
Will play again
Super slow
Had t-tee for 12:45, they told me to go whenever, so took off at 12:30 by myself. Backed from from #2 period. The same 2, w people group in front was constantly waiting before me every tee. Took 4 hours to go 14 then I quitted. Otherwise good looking course and layout. Will try and play at 7 am next time
Fair course
Quick 4 and 1/2 hour round at 9am Sunday Morning. Course in pretty good shape. Lots of brown patches especially around greens. Most elevated and tricky greens which makes this course more interesting than other city courses. No real hazards so bomb away each t box
Nice Track
Very playable course. Definitely some bare patches throughout the course. Greens in pretty good shape. It's gets loud from surrounding traffic but not much you can do about that. Overall solid for a good price
Never Belittle A Shot Down The Middle
The course was in good shape, both fairways and greens. The greens were slow and took a bit getting used to. The sand in the bunkers was excellant, smooth as silk. Also, I have to recomend the Breakfast Burrito in the grill room, muy excellente!
The place is a ghost town!
The place is a ghost town. The regular friendly pro-shop staff as well as the regular restaurant staff is no longer there and the pro-shop itself is empty of merchandize. The word is that the course is under new management that is trying to save the city money and they’ve cut down their staff including the greenkeepers staff from ten to only four and the course is in terrible shape. Also the day that we played which was on a Friday the restaurant was closed. Really sad to see this, since this was a great local course and was one of the gems of the San Gabriel Valley for decades.
good course as always
it's been a while since i last played here, but the course was in good shape as i remembered. the only thing was that the greens were very slow. other than that ,good . pace of play was also good.would definitely return for another round. please put some softer sand in the bunkers!
I'll definitely play here again
There were definitely dry spots throughout on the fairways, but the course overall was in good shape
Always fun
Course a little dry but 3 1/2 hours on a Tuesday and greens are good
New Management
I played in this course back in May and because of the great experience I chose to play again. The problem is that the management company lost the bid to continue in the business, they probably spent zero dollar to maintain. The course was ran down. Thanksfully new management will take over in September. Hope the course endures few more months if no maintenance...

Played here twice in the same week Wen. and Friday. Players I played where very frindly. Should recamend this course.
Good Value
Typical LA "old school" course. Forgiving, wide fairways. Conditions are fair to good considering drought. Not the best, not the worst. Good value for $32. 4 hour round. I will repeat.
Not what it once was, but still worth the trip.
The water situation in California has taken it's toll on this course. Santa Anita was always a course with lush greens, fairways, and rough; unfortunately, due to the water restrictions there are a lot more brown spots and hardpans. The fairways are still decent, but I found myself bumping my ball in a few fairways to get off of dirt after hitting a good tee shot. The greens are very soft and receptive, but extremely slow. I don't know the stimp number, but they are about the slowest I've ever played on. Pace of play on weekends is generally 5+ hours, but the staff is friendly, the food is good and it's still an overall enjoyable experience. For the money, this is still a good value golf course. Not the most challenging, so it's a good track for high handicappers and older players.
