Overpriced , poor conditions

For $80 a round this place should be in good shape. They used to overseed with winter rye but have not in the last few years and now it is like hitting off dormant bermuda dirt/mud depending on lie. Resort is great but spend a nickle on some grass seed or drop your price accordingly for these lame conditions

Always good

You can count on Ballantyne to keep the greens fast and course well-manicured, even in the off-season. Very fun course

Greens Are Fast, True and Fast

This is my favorite course in the area - fun, challenging, well kept, friendly staff. Unfortunately, it is also the most expensive public course around. Fortunately, they sometimes have a bargain on GolfNow. Unfortunately they sell out very quickly, Fortunately I purchased a coupon for two for March 12. Unfortunately I thought it was for March 11. Fortunately they made time for us to play March 11. Unfortunately I also had to pay for March 12.

what a treat...!

The staff was excellent, that's a big plus. They were doing work on holes 1 and 3, but it didn't really bother me. I was a single and finished in 2.5 hours. The course is immaculate from tee to green on every hole and you can't beat their greens...they are top notch, fast and true. The bunkers were the best I've seen in years. Birdied the last 3 holes there and can't say enough of what a great experience I had at this course...top notch

Would be my primary course if I lived in Charlotte area!

I was visiting my nephew at USC and decided to stop in Charlotte before seeing him and then heading to Myrtle. As always I was looking for a good course to play at every stop and had read some very good things about Ballantyne. Well ... having only played it once I can't say enough good things. The conditions were very good. The course is challenging but you can recover from mistakes. Greens were immaculate, speedy and rolled true. I really enjoyed the course, conditions, views ...and it's not because I had such a great round. I shot a very average (for me) score but I could just tell I was enjoying it! Lastly, the staff - extremely friendly and accommodating. Service was terrific. And one added note: I bought one of the oversized ball-markers before we left but as luck would have it I lost it as I was packing to go home. When I got home I emailed the course, and asked if I could buy another one. Instead, they mailed me a replacement free of charge. Well, I couldn't wait to play there again before that and now I am even more anxious. So my advice: Live near or visit Charlotte??? PLAY THIS COURSE!!

Looking Forward to Playing it Again!

This is the first Charlotte-area course I've played and if I only play this course on future trips down I will be very satisfied. I loved the entire experience. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The course was in beautiful condition, has a very nice interesting layout and is certainly challenging. My enthusiasm doesn't come from shooting a spectacular score that day - I had an average score, at best, but it was just a fun, challenge staffed by friendly people! I did not stay at the hotel/resort but playing this course makes me want to stay there also.
One final word - after I got home I found that I'd lost a commemorative ball marker I purchased (maybe a $7-8 item). I emailed the course to ask if I could buy a replacement and not only did they mail me a new one within a week, they replaced it at no cost even though it certainly wasn't their fault that I lost it! As I said, excellent course and excellent, friendly staff! Can't wait to go back there and play it again!

Great winter conditions

Course was in great shape for Christmas. Good deal, but cart path only made pace of play very slow. Love playing Ballantyne with all the elevation change and accessible greens.

Great Public Course

Ballantyne is one of the, if not the best, public golf course in all of Charlotte. We played in the pouring rain and the course was still in fantastic shape. Would go back anytime!

Great winter conditions

Best conditions overall for winter golf. The greens are fast with many breaks. I don't think there are many level spots on any of the greens. Bring your big stick, even from the whites, if I didn't hit a good drive I was 180+ to the green.

Good course for the money

Course was in good condition for mid-November play. Got 1:52 tee-time morning of play at great (cheap) Golf Now rate. Pace of play was slow. Finished at 5:30 pm - pretty dark.

Nice layout for a Municipal course

Scenic, challenging, blind holes, mountainous, and lots of sidehill lies. Not really a course for the novice golfer.

Great elevation changes and fast greens that were rolled and ran true.

This was the second time that we have played this course since Aug. /13. In our opinion it is great value for your golfing dollar if you can get it for $50. or less. The fairways are wide enough for drivers on most holes but beware they slope-off either right or left in most cases. This adds to the challenge of the course. On our most recent trip from Toronto to Florida we stopped in Charlotte just to play this course and a new golf partner was not disappointed. We might not drive straight through again.

Loved the greens

This is the first time in my life I had to play up against corporate buildings, it took some adjustment to get used to but the course was great, I took pictures about every hole, the course is very easy as far as layout and yardage. It's a very pretty yet entertaining all in one, the greens are the best and hardest I've played in a very long time. Once you get used to the traffic noise and building on every other hole you will love it. It was my first time playing there but not my last, I could honestly say you will enjoy your round at the Ballantyne Golf club..

I thought the course condition and rate were great. I just didn't like the pace of play. Five hours to play golf is to long!!

Good round

Enjoyable course, a challenge for the novice and the expert, choose your tee wisely, the course plays longer than the yardage on the card
