very nice golf course
Course condition excellent. Greens fast and challenging. Pace slow, but I expect this on a nice course and on a nice day. My group was better golfers, and I know that lower level golfers can't play as fast. Difficulty of the greens should add to play time, as one needs to spend more time green-reading on these greens than on most other places.
Price review of "excellent" was given based on deal through a discount golf website. Review of food and beverage only based on one Powerade. I had some complications booking tee time through website, so course pleasantly surprised my group by giving free beverages at #10 snack stand.
Highly recommend playing this course.
Great golf course
My wife and I played. They paired us with another couple and we enjoyed it.
Great greens and closely mowed fairways.
There may not be a straight 5foot putt but the greens are well maintened and fast.
More Expensive Than It Looks
The GolfNow discount is not what it appears. Ballantyne charges $15 PER player for a cart (so $30 for a twosome). The GolfNow check out receipt claims $92, but cost out was actually $122. It was a pretty annoying start to an otherwise nice day and round. The course is beautiful. Pace was tough, at Hole 14 there were five carts backed up at the tee box.
Very nice
The course was in great shape. This is a cry tight course be prepared to hit some irons and woods off the T box.
Great course! A must play!
This was a beautiful and challenging course. This is one to definitely put on your golf bucket list. My group was stuck behind a group of guys all day goofing off and ended up making a bottle neck of four groups behind us. It would have been nice for the Marshall to get them moving it took is almost 6 hours to play 18. Other than that it was a great course that I plan to play again!
Ballantyne Golf Course
Really nice golf course, Staff was very friendly and helped us with anything we needed. The golf course has a pretty good layout and the condition of the course was good, the fairways were cut very short and were thin in some places. The greens were punched a couple of weeks earlier but you couldnt really tell. The greens were a little grainy but they rolled true and kepted their line. With the golf now price of $35.00 it was a good deal. I would play it again at that price but I dont think I would pay the full rate to play here and would recommend this course to play at least once.
great Track
The best public course in Charlotte. Great condition nice staff and super bloody marys
Amazing course!
I heard great things about this course before I played it, and everything I heard was true. The course was in amazing shape and I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Deceptively Challenging
The course is in excellent shape. The fairways are very open. It appears from the looks, it will be two on and two put. However, it is a lot more challenging than that. I will play the course again when I am back in Charlotte,
Stop reading reviews; book a tee time right now!!
Why are you still reading? Book a tee time for Ballantyne!
Firstly, I was amazed by the staff.. all professional, welcoming, and want you to have a great experience.
Secondly, the course was emasculate! It provides good challenges and holes to make up the lost strokes. The greens are in great shape, fairways are nice, and the roughs are quality too.
Lastly, the perks. Just kind, little, gestures go a long way. First timers are given a logo-ball. The person with the lowest score gets a free drink at the bar after the round. Loading your cart for you. Cleaning your clubs. All of these things made for a complete resort experience.
I was weary that the price was a little steep when I booked it, but it was 100% worth every dime!
Great course for all
This is an excellent course, set up for both beginners and the more advanced golfers.
Great course
Great course, challenging layout. On most days a great overall experience. This happened to be a jammed packed weekend so pace of play was off. Course conditions very good, could probably use a beverage cart on a hot day as the only way to get a drink is at 10 and 1. Overall great stuff.
Well Worth The Price
Excellent resort course. I had expected a more difficult layout, however the course was moderate in difficulty and actually forgiving off the tee. Although the greens were a little quick, they rolled perfectly and would hold when hitting a long iron or hybrid. The large office buildings which surround the course helped frame in a few holes, which gave this course a very unique and picturesque look. This is one of the best courses I have played in the Charlotte area. If you have the opportunity to play, do yourself a favor and go! I will be back! Highly Recommended!
Not worth the price
Maintained well. Nice views of surrounding businesses. City golf at it finest. Every hole is the though. They're all simply straight holes. No doglegs, no water hazards in play, all just plain hit it straight holes. Grounds are maintained well though. Nothing really wrong with this place it's just worth $40, not the $79 the usually charge. I shot the second best career low but still left unimpressed because it was just the shot after the same shot.
Great course
Very nice course and the staff was great. Greens were fast but great shape.
Best course in the state
This came highly recommended. I got a great deal on GolfNow.com. Course was very well maintained, fairways, bunkers and greens were all top notch. I would say the greens were rolling around a 9 or 10. Highly recommend it!
Beautiful course
The course is one the more picturesque courses in the South Charlotte area The price is generally a little high for my taste but received a good rate on GolfNow for the round. They were doing quite a bit of maintenance around the tee boxes so the tee boxes were moved up or back on some of the holes. The greens were in excellent shape. Will definitely go back in the future if the price is right. Our foursome started on time and moved through the course in less than four hours.
Not an everyday course
Ballantyne Hotel Golf Club is not your everyday public course. Start off with excellently maintained practice putting green, practice chipping green and driving range all within steps of each other to loosing up before you head out to the first tee box. There are 2 restrooms on the course located so that they are reached easily after #3,#6,#13 and #15. There is a refreshment stand located after #10 as well as before you head out at #1. Course conditions are the finest around. Well maintained fairways, rough and greens are what truly make a course good and Ballantyne has them all. The only negative about Ballantyne is the cost. But the saying goes "You get what you pay for" and Ballantyne gives you your moneys worth.
One more thing EXCELLENT staff!
Nice layout but conditioning needs work
For the premium you pay to play this course you would expect the conditioning to be top notch. It wasn't. Tee boxes were in horrible shape. No excuse for this. The course layout is nice. Fairways look nice and green but it's like hitting off hardpan and not carpet.
Best public course around
Great facility all around. Love this place and will play it whenever I get the chance. Greens are very fast and very tough, read your putt at least twice and you may make it.
Wow,
Surprising review. This is a country club layout with conditioning to match. Many of the holes have subtle turns and the elevation changes make this course a solid track. It is 79.00 because people in the area are willing to pay this price for quality golf.
