Course conditions a bit rough, nice layout
The tee blocks are barren on many holes, like hitting off of a desert and there are a lot of bare patches on the fairways. The greens are a bit slow. A bit of tlc would definitely help as this course has a nice layout.
nice
Short course but challenging green in good shape very nice layout I would definitely play again
Great course for the price!
Course is always in great shape, greens are a bit slow but that's expected this time of year. There is never a problem with the pace of play and seems to be a hidden gem between Raleigh and Durham.
Crossings 5/24/15
First time here. Got a good Golfnow deal of $29 and with perfect weather had to play.
Played as a single and got around in 3 hrs. 3 groups let me through, very nice. Course conditions were good. Green were very good, although a little slow. Some bunkers need more sand and some TLC. Some tee boxes a little thin but playable.
Still trying to make sense of the scorecard yardage. I normally play white tees, 6000-6200 yds. Here whites were 5400 and blue were 6100. So I played blue. It was OK except for a few holes with lengthy forced carries on the drive. Forget the hole number but I think it was a par 5 on the back. Hit a good drive and cleared the junk by only 20-30 yds. Playing a second time will help save a few strokes as hitting the wrong side of the fairway will funnel the ball out of bounds or into a hazard.
Highlight of the round was on par 5 #11. 2nd hardest hole on course, didn't know that until after the round. I had just played through a foursome on #10 so I hurried to this tee. Could tell the hole was a dog leg right and aimed left of center. Crushed the drive. When I go to my ball saw it really rode the slope and I was 155 yds from the flag. Almost blocked by a tree to going right at the stick so I aimed to the left of the green. Hit the iron well, had a slight fade on it. Hit the green, tracked to the hole and then it disappeared. An Albatross, a 2 on a par 5. Proceed to dunk my tee ball in the water on the next hole a par 3. I love golf! :)
very nice golf course
the green and fairway is good condition.
very nice golf course. i will recommend this course to my friend.
Worth every penny
Course is fun and fair. Has a little of everything. Pace of play was a little slow but it was a gorgeous day so no complaints. People need to fix their ball marks here. It seems like 3% of people are actually fixing them. One of my pet peeves, I probably fixed 30 on top of my own. i literally could spend a full day fixing Marks and not finish all 18 greens. C'mon people! I played for $29 on a Wednesday at 2pm. $29 is a steal for the quality of course you're getting.
Overall good course
Course conditions were good. The greens were the nicest part of the facility by far. The tee boxes were shaggy and most of the fairways were patchy or had crab grass. I look forward to playing this course in the middle of summer to see if the fairways improve. There were mostly dog leg lefts on the front 9 but the back 9 had a better variety of holes. Not an easy walk, but I enjoyed the elevation changes the course offered. Overall, a good course
A challenge,but a fun one.
It's nearby my house, and a nice course, which is why I come here. Also... got a good deal from Golf Now.
Tight fairways...
Eats golfballs...
Fast greens...
Lot's of players on this sunny spring day, but for the most part it kept moving.
Great challenging greens
I play The Crossings often because my husband and I really enjoy the greens. They are large and fast! Fairways and layout challenging after winter season. Staff is great. I am comfortable in playing there alone since they treat all players with respect and friendship. Good value. Just wish they could improve #9 for gals like me!
Good course.
Good course. It was wet the day I played, so it was cart path only. Good shape for February.
This course was a surprise
We played this course due to availability and we definitely be back. Thay paired us with a member who was more than helpful as the course requires some strategy. Greens were smooth and fast (in the summer watch out) and you need to hit some tough 2nd shots. Great deal for the money and pace of play was under 4 hours. The White tees were very short so we played the blues.
Worth a look
The course requires some local knowledge as there are blind shots, short par-5s where layup distance is key and tight holes.
All in all, a good track with tough greens and a good variety of holes, with the finishing 3 holes a good test vs. par.
Worth a play.
Challenging Course
Very good course to play have to be able to carry the ball. Hole 12 par 3 island green surrounded by water is awesome!
Crossings Review
I found the course to be in really good shape. The greens were extremely fast which I like as long as you are not putting down hill. The staff was friendly and although I was late let me right out without a complaint. Thanks for a nice round.
If you have not played here there ar e several doglegs which cause you to hit placement shots. Most holes are very scoreable. Holes 14-16 are the biggest challenge.
Good course
Overall I enjoy this course as a mental challenge. You must choose your shots wisely. And the course was in great shape.
Challening and excellent setting
This course has rolling terrain, trees, ponds, streams, sand traps and is well maintained. From the blue tees at 6,083 yards each second shot is challenging. I played as a single and finished the round in 3 hrs 40 minutes with groups in front of me. Very enjoyable except for my putting on the front nine.
Course is challenging and fun
The course was in good shape and the pace of play was excellent.
Great condition.
Great condition. Greens were solid. Good challenges for a novice.
Nice course, not for beginners
The Crossings is a fairly difficult, but beautifully designed course. Demanding off the tee. Can only stray so much, or the thick bermuda rough and impassable natural areas will make life difficult. Overall a good value at $45, as similar quality courses in the area can cost a bit more. Bent grass greens were mostly very nice, quick enough, a few had minor dead spots that affected roll a bit. Very receptive to approach shots. Traps are in OK condition. Tee boxes acceptable. Fairways very nice.
Great local course
I really enjoy playing at The Crossings Golf Club. The staff is always friendly. The starters and rangers are very nice and always chatty before the round. Charlie is especially great. The snack bar staff is great, they make sure you get what you need and back out on the course quickly. Try the chicken biscuits or the chicken salad sandwich. The course is always in great shape and a lot of fun to play. you can challenge yourself or play it safe on most holes. I really enjoy playing here with my buddies on the weekends and we are all considering membership here. I would recommend this course to anyone in the area or visiting.
Most courses in the Triangle have experienced what is called Winter Kill on the Bermuda grass from the unusually cold and wet weather in February. The Crossings has experienced very little. There are some small areas in just a few fairways and a couple of tees were affected. I know the guys at the course are applying "TLC" daily. Give all the courses in the area a small break since some were hit harder than others. Nothing could have been done by the courses to prevent this. All are doing their best to recover.
