Skytop Lodge - Poconos Golf Course
About
Skytop Golf Course sprawls across rolling hills set against a backdrop provided by the beautiful Poconos. The course originally opened in 1927. It has a classic design with traditional features including wide fairways, but the trees that line them have matured into quite the challenge. The 6,656-yard length may seem short by modern standards but don't get too comfortable. This mountain golf course features a variety of elevation changes and nowhere is this more apparent than the small greens where the breaks can vary from subtle to dramatic, but they are almost all unexpected. The greens also play lightning fast. Strategically placed bunkers are lurking throughout but thankfully water only comes into play on two holes. Skytop Golf Course offers plenty of scenic respite as well, with panoramic views of West Mountain.

The leaves were at their best, and the views great. Photo submitted by bdad9428 on 10/18/2013
Excellent day
Beautiful course and a very friendly staff. High in the Pocono Mountains it's in great condition. I'm not a fan of the really long par threes but that's because I'm bad.
Unfortunately it's in the middle of nowhere accessible by bumpy two-lane roads so add the cost of a set of shocks to the greens fees.
Sky top lodge
Course was in great shape and the staff was super nice
Great place.
Staff is very friendly and nor crowded at all. Course is in great shape.
Great course with great views
all staff was super friendly. Course was in great condition. firm fast greens very receptive. good challenging layout. definitely booking again in the future!
Worth the trip
Course was in great shape. Greens a bit slow and rough needs to be mowed but definitely worth the trip. Staff was very friendly and always willing to help you. Course could use more signs as it covers alot of land and gets confusing on where the next hole is especially after you finish 6
nice course
it was a great day to play golf, the staff was very accommodating even with the precautions needed during this covid19 era. pace of play excellent and course conditions were the best i have seen so far this year
A Golf Course Anyone Can Play
At just over 6600 yds from the Blues, and around 6400 for the Whites, you might consider this course short my modern standards, but with the assortment of long and short par 4's it is a stener test than you might think. While not characterized by landing zones, the course demands strategically positioned your drives ( not always with the driver) on many of the tee shots.Great assortment of par 3's and 5's to round out the experience. The small greens are strategically bunkered, with some severe mounding to make your short game feel challenged. Greens were not fast, but you still had to respect them. You need to try this course!
Nice for spring golf.
The course was well maintained. Fairways easy to see. Open course for players like me ( 10+ handicap).
Great shape for the time of year!
Great conditions for the situation/beginning of the season. Greens had been aerated the day before. Still ran fast. Tee boxes/fairways were set up well, with good lines. Staff was friendly.
Great value
Ignore the amenities. With Covid nothing is open in the clubhouse. Good course and great value. Another month I’ll be back because pretty sure it will be in prime conditions. Little gem in the middle of PA.
Shaggy greens
Played this course twice this season. Both times the greens were the slowest I've ever encountered on a resort course. The course is beautiful. The layout is great but when you have to "slam" the ball to get it to roll 20 feet it makes it very difficult to enjoy your round. On both occasions we played another course in the same area and the green conditions were excellent. So blaming weather or weather conditions for the poor green conditions does not cut it. It's a real shame because it's a nice course and beautiful area.
Beautiful course, friendly staffs
review
I and family played a round while we stayed in Skytop Lodge. The autumn scene on course were so beautiful. The hole 10 and hole 18 are very interesting. One is tee up high by the water, ball fly over the water down to fairway; then we riding through a wooden bridge to fairway. The water fall is right under us, great sounds and smells. The hole 18, you need to get your ball fly up over a cliff to green. So Challenge and interesting.
We left a wedge on course that day and didn’t realize until we came back home. I called the pro shop, they mailed it to me immediately. Love there, will go again definitely!
Beautiful Course
The course was in impeccable shape. The staff are so very friendly. Carts are clean and in great shape. If I were to have one small complaint, it would be the signage between the 6th to 7th holes, and 12th to 13th. That is it. Otherwise its perfect. An enjoyable and fun course to play.
Mountain Heaven
Course was in great shape. Greens were a little bumpy, not from aeration but from dead spots. Great views and some tough reads. Overall I really liked it. People were very friendly.
