Rose Hill Golf Club

About
Rose Hill Golf Club in Bluffton is situated amongst plentiful live oaks draped with Spanish moss. There are also sparkling, crystal-clear lakes that come into play on several holes. The golf course is a part of Rose Hill Plantation, giving it a truly Southern look and feel. Most of the holes are flat and straightforward but there are a few tricky doglegs to keep the course interesting. The layout features formidable par 3s that will test even the best players and a notably difficult par 5 that measures just over 600 yards. The challenging holes are balanced with player-friendly features that make it versatile enough for a wide range of skill levels. Four sets of tees, the longest coming to just over 6,900 yards, make Rose Hill Golf Club even more accessible.

Very friendly place to play
Fun course and wonderful value. Very nice layout with challenging greens.
Imperfect Greens
Great round on a great course. Practice tee had a lot of insects but they disappeared on the first hole and never came back. Staff were excellent right from the bag drop to the 19th hole, absolutely first class. Layout and conditions were excellent with the small exception of the greens, which had a few weeks and moss, but honestly never really seemed to impact the roll of a putt.
Great value, highly recommended.
Tees and greens need work.
The tee boxes were mostly dirt. And the greens had different types of grass growing in many areas. It looked like weeds trying to break through. The staff was friendly, and the pace of play was good. But the course needs work.
2nd to me playing in the last 2 weeks- pace of play was so much better 2 nd time.
I signed on line and was told I would 260.00. Only to find when in went to pay they said I owed tax yet if I signed in on line it was 260.00- it wasnonlyn5.00 per person but it’s the point . The counter guy said he has to notify Golf Now..
Terrible Course
Course was in horrible shape. Fairways all dirt and weeds. Greens were spotty with weeds also. I’ll never be back. Pay more and get a real course. Layout was good, too bad they won’t spend some money on grass seed.
Fewer alligators this year
I usually see lots of large alligators on this course, but it seems that they are gone. the course itself, very well maintained great pace of play. we hit the nineteenth hole around sunset and it was overwhelmed with people, so it was hard to stay and hang out. They must have had an event going on or something!
Didn’t feel welcome here
The old, poorly-maintained, muddy, dusty course covered in pine pollen and little palmetto fibers that stuck to our socks and its old gas-powered carts without GPS might have been tolerable for its price, if it hadn't been for the unfriendly attitude of the “marshal" and another ranger we encountered out on the course. We'd first met a friendly worker at the bag drop, and another at the pro shop counter. But outside, the "marshal" let us know we weren't really welcome. He was offended that I drove our cart the 100 yards past the practice putting green to park alongside the practice range to hit a small bag of balls, even though there were no signs telling first-time visitors about such a rule. After we returned to the practice putting green he tried (unsuccessfully) to convince us to allow another foursome to go out ahead of us, despite the fact that their tee time was 15 minutes later than ours. When we objected, he sent them off on the back nine and rushed us off 10 minutes before our tee time. He waited for us at the par-4 5th hole to make sure we didn't violate the course’s unusual "cart path only" rule they'd set that day, and told us as he drove past that we should "pick up the pace a bit," ironic on a hole that the course had made slower by forcing players to walk across the fairway to their ball for two or three shots before reaching the green. Later, another ranger, similarly unskilled in player relations, told us he'd like us to play faster because "we like our foursomes to finish in four hours or less.” We ended up finishing in 4:14, well within normal pace at most of the courses we’ve played. One of our worst experiences ever on a first visit to a resort course.
A First
Wet conditions required cart path only.
After three holes delayed for next three do to 7 players scattered all over each hole. A first time experience.
With no interest in letting my twosome play through skipped a hole and played remaining 11 .
It’s a crazy world out there but never imaged witnessing such brazen disregard for the rules of golf.
One and done😡
Not good
Played here 3 years and have avoided until yesterday. No significant change. Tee areas terrible, Fairways and rough, poor, greens crazy slow. It is mid-Febrary, but several courses played earlier are in much better condition.
Rose Hill is a very nice local course
Rose Hill is a very nice local course for the Bluffton area. Like most Bluffton courses, drainage is a challenge so we were CPO on the front 9 and 90 degrees on the back 9. The greens were not very fast but were otherwise in very good condition, especially for winter. The sand traps were in pretty rough shape, again owing to the recent rain and poor drainage. I also noticed several traps with a lot of small stones in them. They could use some fresh sand.
Overall, I thought it was a good course for the price. The staff were very friendly and eager to help.
Much improved
We played the course several years ago andeere pleasantly surprised by improvements to the course condition since we last played.
It rained briefly during our game, greens and sand traps became very wet with water pooling on the greens.
