Rose Hill Golf Club
About
Rose Hill Golf Club in Bluffton is situated amongst plentiful live oaks draped with Spanish moss. There are also sparkling, crystal-clear lakes that come into play on several holes. The golf course is a part of Rose Hill Plantation, giving it a truly Southern look and feel. Most of the holes are flat and straightforward but there are a few tricky doglegs to keep the course interesting. The layout features formidable par 3s that will test even the best players and a notably difficult par 5 that measures just over 600 yards. The challenging holes are balanced with player-friendly features that make it versatile enough for a wide range of skill levels. Four sets of tees, the longest coming to just over 6,900 yards, make Rose Hill Golf Club even more accessible.

In better shape - and continues to improve
I've always enjoyed the layout at Rose Hill, but had stopped playing there a couple of years ago because it was in such bad shape. Starting playing there again last year as friends were giving it a 'last chance'. I can tell you it has certainly improved and continues to improve.
It is a challenging track, with some narrow hitting areas, plenty of trees and water hazards to deal with.
The greens are in great shape, the tee boxes for the most part are kept mowed and free of bare areas. Traps still need a bit of work but acceptable. The fairways and rough is where the course needs to keep moving forward to turn this course from good to great.
Enjoy playing here and will continue to do so, as long as improvements to the overall experience continue to grow.
Condition
Greens in very good condition.
Fairways have improved but rough area can be dry and rock hard...
The course layout is very good..
RoseHill Golf
I am a member of course and it plays fine, but the course does need to be tighten up and taken care of better.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we appreciate your feedback. Thank you for playing Rose Hill Golf Club.
Great value
Have played this course a number of times. In great shape right now and a great value for the money. Would play here again without question. Greens were just plugged a week ago but still in pretty good shape. Had a great day
Your feedback is important to us! Thank you for sharing your 5-star experience. We look forward to seeing you again at the course soon! Thanks for choosing Rose Hill Golf Club.
Very Poor
This course offers very few amenities
No ball washers? T boxes horrific branches and twigs everywhere
Most of all the management VERY arrogant
The cost to play is very high vs vslue received
Bob, thanks for taking time to post a review although I am a bit concerned about your stated issues or and expectations. Seems that this has more to do with your lack of support with your Neighborhood post and now attempting a jab at the Club under the warm blanket of anonymity. Unfortunately, one of your “friends” made us aware of your post. For clarity, this response is being written by DaWayne Penberthy, Head Golf professional at Rose Hill Golf Club. I can be reached nearly every day in the pro-shop or at (843) 757-9030.
What precisely were you expecting to see regarding amenities? Due to Covid 19 which is kind of a big deal and which has been thoroughly covered in the news, we took precautions for your safety: We eliminated or reduced common touch points such as ball washers, bunker rakes, and water coolers which have been removed from certainly all local courses that are open. Likewise, we took precautions to reduce the temptation to remove the flags by inverting the golf hole liners so balls could still be “holed” but would remain within easy reach of your gloved hand. We sanitize carts between uses with approved Covid 19 killing disinfectants and offer the opportunity for individual use carts for non-players who do not reside together. Were the lack of amenities truly a concern, we could have addressed it had you simply asked by explaining the need for these measures.
The restaurant, bar, and beverage cart are not affiliated in any way with the golf course or its management. Their decision to totally close due to Covid 19 are entirely beyond our control. Again, were the lack of these amenities truly a concern, we could have addressed it had you simply asked. In any case it is exceptionally unreasonable to negatively review us, for their decision to close these facilities.
As for twigs and branches, we had just experienced wind gusts of over 30 mph a couple days prior and it does take some time to pick up over 100 acres with the number of trees we have. Again, we could have answered your concerns in this area had you simply asked.
All the tee complexes, roughs and fairways were fertilized about a week prior to your play. We followed this up on the 11th and 12th, aerating and vertical cutting all the tee complexes and fairways. You know this as the closure had been posted for ten days prior to the 14th AND that rates were reduces following the aeration. However, was this truly a concern, we could have addressed it had you simply asked by explaining the need for these measures.
This review aside, it is unfortunate that services allowing customers and even noncustomers to post reviews anonymously do influence future purchases because most will not bother to read responses to reviews. But they will have seen the half-truths, misrepresentations and outright lies crafted behind an anonymous keyboard with little risk of accountability. At some point, service providers and vendors will have to have some protection from small minded people who want revenge for some perceived slight.
Golf Now, please do something about this fundamentally unsound practice.

Nice course
I enjoy this golf course The back tees make it challenging. Par 3 are more difficult and the par 5’s play more like par 5’s (from the white tees they are easily reachable in 2).
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing Rose Hill Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon!
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give us another try in the near future.
Really nice layout
It has been a number of years since playing here. I thoroughly enjoyed the layout and design. I look forward to returning.
Thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing Rose Hill Golf Club.
Nice course
Rose hill was a nice and challenging course. Fairways needed a little work, greens were very nice albeit a little slow. Beautiful layout. No walking before 11:00, and they didn’t have enough carts for patrons prior to then. I will play again.
Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back!
Nice course
Nice course, good time. They need a water machine or something or put up signs that they’re is no water or sell it.
Thank you for taking the time to review us! Your feedback is valuable, and we look forward to delivering you excellent service again soon. Rose Hill Golf Club thanks you!
Hidden gem
Had an incredible time. Course layout was challenging. Greens were nice. I really enjoyed playing this course. I will definitely play again.
We appreciate you leaving a review and rating us. We will inform the entire team, so they know their hard work is paying off. We look forward to having you back at Rose Hill Golf Club!
Long Drive
Drove up from Savannah to play. Full course on a Monday morning. My wife and I were paired with a retired (local now) couple. They were good to play with!
Course is narrow, with water and sand everyplace I hit the ball! My wife played great! Liked the layout, wish I hit the ball better, will return to enjoy the course more!
We appreciate you leaving a review and rating us. We will inform the entire team, so they know their hard work is paying off. We look forward to having you back at Rose Hill Golf Club!
Rose Hill is ignoring corona virus related public health advisories warning
Rose Hill requires two riders per golf cart, in direct contravention of recent public health advisories to maintain six feet of separation between individuals during the corona virus pandemic. A management representative maintained that there would not be enough carts for all golfers wishing to ride if one rider per cart were allowed. However, when we finished our round mid-afternoon today, there were many golf carts sitting in the cart staging area unused.
Thanks for your review. It’s possible that your review was written in the early days of the closures when our corona cart policies were being developed, and so influenced the policy itself - so thank you. But in any case, it’s a bit unfair to assert that we were ignoring Corona virus related public health advisories… We have taken measures to eliminate or reduce common touch points such as ball washers, bunker rakes, and water coolers which have been removed from certainly all local courses that are open. Likewise, we took precautions to reduce the temptation to remove the flags by inverting the golf hole liners so balls could still be “holed” but would remain within easy reach of your gloved hand. We sanitize carts between uses with approved Covid 19 killing disinfectants and around the time of your review began to offer the opportunity for individual use carts for non-players who do not reside together.
The fact is that there are not enough carts for us to give all players their own carts without having a significant negative impact on the golf operation. So when physical distancing guidelines were announced but not mandated, we instituted a policy of allowing individual cart usage as a personal choice with a modest surcharge. $5 for nine holes and $10 for eighteen holes. Once physical distancing became mandatory, and in recognition that it was no longer a matter of personal choice, we eliminated the surcharge entirely. Now that physical distancing guidelines are again a personal choice, the surcharge has been reinstated. This policy is posted at the door and counter and discussed with customers at check-in.
It is important to state that the surcharge was not an arbitrary attempt to pick up revenue. In fact, it falls well short of making us whole for the expense of the individual cart option. Namely, double the fuel, double the wear and tear, and double the maintenance costs of operating the fleet. Beyond those costs, and as you well know, owing to course improvements and a highly effective marketing campaign, we are now fortunate enough to be able to book nearly all desirable tee times, running well over two-hundred rounds each day routinely. No course sustains a two-hundred-plus-cart fleet and although we have added locally available carts to our fleet at significant expense (increasing our fleet to 62 golf carts) - individual carts cut the opportunity to have players on the course by half and every one of these unused tee times represents the certain loss of revenue. Not counting the above mentioned additional fuel, wear and tear, and added maintenance costs, individual carts cost us between $15 and $49 in lost revenue opportunity each time an individual rider cart goes out. This is a truly unsustainable loss of over 40% of the daily revenue to the course.
Secondly, the State has again modified physical distancing mandates by providing specific but varied guidelines for different business sectors. While physical distancing remains desirable, the State recognizes that it is not always reasonable and present guidelines now allow close person to person contact and up to ten persons in close proximity. This as opposed to our two persons in an open moving golf cart. It seems we're well in excess of the reasonably "required" standards for mitigation even without the individual cart use policy we now permit.
Thanks again.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting Rose Hill Golf Club. We hope you'll give us another try in the future.

Owner had attitude
I took my 4 year old son out for his first trip to the golf course. When I arrived I was told that I was being partnered with some person I had never met. I refused because this was not only my day with my son, but I was not trying to get corona virus either. I was immediately threatened with police. I never once raised my voice or used any foul language. I eventually agreed to go ahead and play since they had us in different carts. The owner refused to let me play and said if I came back I would be arrested. This guy has a real bad attitude problem.
