About
Rose Hill Golf Club in Bluffton is situated amongst plentiful live oaks draped with Spanish moss. There are also sparkling, crystal-clear lakes that come into play on several holes. The golf course is a part of Rose Hill Plantation, giving it a truly Southern look and feel. Most of the holes are flat and straightforward but there are a few tricky doglegs to keep the course interesting. The layout features formidable par 3s that will test even the best players and a notably difficult par 5 that measures just over 600 yards. The challenging holes are balanced with player-friendly features that make it versatile enough for a wide range of skill levels. Four sets of tees, the longest coming to just over 6,900 yards, make Rose Hill Golf Club even more accessible.

Great improvement
The greens are in good shape, the layout has some challenges, but the fairways are still a little rough and the team continues to work on getting this course back in great shape. Overall I plan on coming back and playing again, the value for this course was worth the cost.
Needs work
Three hours on the front. Very slow play and ranger could not get things moving.
The fairways and tees need grass. Sand traps are dirt. the greens are very nice.
It looks like ownership is not doing any work on the course. With amount of play this place gets it will be a waste land by summer.
Many other courses in the area are a better value

Where'd the money go?
In late 2019 through the present, this course raised well over $300,000 in new memberships. That money did not go into the course evidently! There has been no seeding, there are bare spots everywhere that will likely not be repaired. They have a complete lack of control on the spacing of their groups, and absolutely no Ranger activity to keep the pace of play where it should be. It's a real shame! A lot of us who invested in the membership are very disappointed that this course evidently just pocketed the money and did nothing to improve it. Too bad, because this could be a great little course!
Firstly, thanks for being one of our Anniversary Special Members. We continue to be very pleased to have been the only club in the region to have offered this sub-two hundred-dollar three-year, seven day a week membership focused on growing the game of golf. The success we’ve had bringing new customers to the course is essential not only in being able to continue to improve the course but is essential in breaking the cycle of business failure and degradation of course conditions that has been prevalent in Rose Hill’s past. In fact, we are so confident in the future of our golf operation that we’ve already exercised our option to extend our lease of the golf property for five additional years. We remain committed to continued improvement of the course and to stabilizing the golf operation into the future.
Secondly, I apologize for your slow round. As you can imagine, with the Anniversary Members, our Platinum Members and the Public Play, we do from time to time have a fairly busy course. We regulate that by using ten-minute tee time spacing (most courses use eight minutes or less); having a starter in place every day to get things started out correctly; and, an additional ranger every day on the course to assist players staying on pace. Of course, even with these measures it is likely that a single player or two player group in a field of foursomes would feel the pace slow. As the head professional I’m very interested in your circumstances and experience and would like to discuss it if you would care to call or visit me.
Lastly, I am disappointed that you didn’t bring up your concerns with us in person as I could have easily addressed the inaccuracies you’re asserting. Though successful, the Anniversary Membership campaign yielded significantly less than the $300,000 you assert. Every bit of what was raised has been expended or is scheduled to be expended for course operations and maintenance. Most of these expenses are below the ground or behind the scenes so you wouldn’t be expected to see the fruit of these efforts yet. We have purchased several pieces of critical equipment; applied a tremendous amount of chemicals (pre-emergent and post-emergent weed treatment, fungicides, fertilizers, wetting agents, etc.) in advance of our turf grasses wakening from dormancy (they are starting to green up, but aren’t yet growing). Once they do, we will apply growth regulators to get them filled in – unlike your yard, southern golf course turf grasses do not grow from seed. We have several other maintenance events funded and scheduled that haven’t taken place here for many years – if ever.
This is a great little golf course and we’re committed to making it better and better.

Great improvement
The course had been in rough shape over the past few years. Huge improvement. Hard to believe it was the same greens. Excellent green conditions. They are coming along with tees and fairways. Great staff.

Greens are much better
Played here many time last year and greens were awful. Much better now and when grass starts to grow in the fairways it will be much better. Good value for the money

The course was in tough shape but it was because of all the rain. I will come and play again when the weather get better. So played with two young boys 9 and 7 and 4 adults they put us on back 9. And that was great done before anyone was over there. I want to thank them for a great time.

course in very poor condition but was busy because it's the lowest price in the area.

Had a great time at Rose golf course
People were very friendly!! My wife and I had a very nice time! The condition of the course was a little warn but pace of play and money value was great!

Improved, but needs work
We played Rose Hill several years ago, and didn’t play it again until today. It was in terrible shape years ago and the only thing that was better today were the greens. They rolled true and were in very good condition. The fairways, traps and tee boxes were no better than they were years ago.
It should be mentioned that the staff was very friendly and professional.

Where’s The Grass?
The tee boxes were in bad condition. The fairways had very little grass and it was like playing golf on the dirt on almost every hole. Terrible course!

Greens
Greens were excellent for this time of year. Fairways were playable but needed the small leaves blown off in certain areas.Tee boxes need work . Bunkers were in pretty good shape. For the price it was worth a day of golf. Pace was a little slow. We played in 4 1/2 hours.

Good but could be better
Traps need lots if sand; fairways must be due for seeding, getting bare. Course will probably (hopefully) get better as year progresses

Good Layouts
I played here when it first opened 35 years ago. Didn’t remember anything. Greens are beautiful. Fairways were thin (winter) and wet. Bunkers were unraked. I liked the layout and the scenery is beautiful.

For this time year the course is in good shape,the greens are perfect,not much grass on the fairways but that's the time of year not the course, the staff more than friendly for the money great deal.

Presently surprised
After reading other reviews I wasn’t expecting much but it was better than that the greens were excellent fairways considering the wet period were playable for 24.00 a good value staff were friendly and pace of play 3.5 hours very good

Very enjoyable round
We played at Rose Hill Thursday morning, there where two us, they paired us with two members, we had a very nice time. The course was in pretty good shape for winter time. Would recommend Rose Hill to anyone.

Newly reopened
This is really a great track. Difficult par 3’s, nice layout. Course I understand was closed and has now reopened under new ownership. If these owners spend a little money on grass seed, bunker maintenance and general overall maintenance, It could be great. Price right reflects that. I would play again.
