Located just outside of Columbia, The Windermere Club sits along the banks of the lake that it takes its name from. Pete Dye designed the golf course, crafting a number of memorable holes. It's his only design in the Midlands. No two holes are alike on this challenging layout, so expect to use every club in your bag. The golf course offers a variety of risk-reward opportunities that will appeal to both low and high handicappers. There are also five, and sometimes six, tee boxes on every hole, making the golf course even more appealing for any skill level. The fairways are generous but lined with mature hardwoods and there are strategically placed bunkers to contend with. Golfers at The Windemere Club will also encounter subtle but tricky elevation changes and several lakes and ponds.

Very much improved

I had not played here in a couple years. Was very hesitant paying $38 based on past course conditions. I was very much impressed with improvement tee to green. Will definitely be going back. Have always loved back 9 layout.

Blythewood country club or Windermere?

This place has the best layout in the Columbia area. The parts that need attention is greens, fairways, tee boxes, bunkers, pro shops employees, and price. This course has so much potential, but nobody has any money to make this dream a reality. I don’t even know what the name is… is it Blythewood Cpuntry Club, or back to being Windermere? The main reason the fairways are a shade of green is due to weeds, not fairway grass. They bragged and bragged about the gorgeous greens they put in a couple years ago… where are they now? Looks like Windermere back when they had the bent grass greens. Also, the price to play has gone up higher as the course gets worse and worse. Tom in the pro shop needs an attitude adjustment or maybe just a personality. Great course layout, it just needs uncle Joe to bail it out like the rest of the country.

Shame

The previous reviews hold true. Staff in the clubhouse didn’t give me the time of day. No one was around when I went in to get help. Cart barn kid was helpful and doing his best for being the only one on staff. Cool course layout but in bad shape. Bunkers not raked. Dirt patches on some greens. Cups not fully stamped into the ground. Course was empty except a 5some I ran into who didn’t wave me (a single) thru. Smh. But overall just a shame this course looks like it could be so great.

Windermere was disappointing.

Grass on tee boxes was too long, and the greens were the most bouncy and in worst condition I have seen. The layout is very nice but looks like it’s has been poorly taken care of.

Nice layout

The practice green was nice and fast but the greens on the course were inconsistent mostly slow. Course was very dry and not in good condition. Greens were punched and course gave no mention that they were.

Same story

Same old story in Columbia SC! NO GRASS! NO GRASS! NO GRASS! Weeds we're coming in nicely though...Greens we're super bouncy, and I paid $49 on a Monday. Guys I know the demand is high for Golf right now but really? At best this is a $30 course for the conditions right now, which is a shame because it's a great layout and fun design.

Disappointing

Played this course for the last time probably due to the poor conditions that haven’t changed in several years! Have played the course with a group of guys several times over the last 8-years but we skipped it the last two years due to condition! Unfortunately it has not improved at all. Our group of 24 wont be returning. It’s like they don’t even use blowers or rakes! It’s a shame with the track being such a good one!

Great scenery. Beautiful course. Great golf.

The course was beautiful and a bit difficult with the deep bunkers. Greens were very fast but beautifully maintained. The workers as well as others on the course were extremely helpful and nice. If you want to go to a beautiful place with good people for a great price this is the place to go. I will be going back very soon.
