The Windermere Club
About
Located just outside of Columbia, The Windermere Club sits along the banks of the lake that it takes its name from. Pete Dye designed the golf course, crafting a number of memorable holes. It's his only design in the Midlands. No two holes are alike on this challenging layout, so expect to use every club in your bag. The golf course offers a variety of risk-reward opportunities that will appeal to both low and high handicappers. There are also five, and sometimes six, tee boxes on every hole, making the golf course even more appealing for any skill level. The fairways are generous but lined with mature hardwoods and there are strategically placed bunkers to contend with. Golfers at The Windemere Club will also encounter subtle but tricky elevation changes and several lakes and ponds.

Course has potential but needs work
The layout and design was great, with hidden bunkers and well placed water hazards. Unfortunately the course looks like it could use some work, it wasn't in terrible condition but with some better greenskeeping it could be a great course. I also had a problem with some neighborhood kids playing on the course, one ran out and stole my ball off of the green during play. They need to get a ranger out there to keep the kids off the course during the middle of the day.
Back again
Played first time in about 18 months. Must say a big improvement, but still have a long way to go. Way too many bare spots on greens. Mostly around edges and most likely caused by the mower doing clean up cuts too often. One thing I noticed that really shocked me was that had done aerification recently and someone had taken the old plugs and spread out over the bare spots. Surly they no better than that. Overall green were coming in, but were very bumpy right now.
members are dickheads
i was behind 4 members in there own carts, wet and windy and i waited every hole!!!!!!! it happens everytime i play there but it will not happen again!!!!!! when i talked to them on the 25th they told me that the whole course was open , when i got there they told me that the back nine was closed, just a rip off!
Great Experience
Course layout is beautiful and entertaining. Course was in great shape, especially given the insane amount of rain we’ve had! Staff was super friendly. They are really working hard to get this course back to it’s prime condition. Sand traps still a bit hard and the cart paths can be a little rough. Tee boxes all in great shape. Fairways true. Greens beautiful. You really can’t beat the value at current prices! I absolutely love playing here.
Not bad
Coulda been a little less crowded. Coulda been manicured a little better on the course.
Love the layout, food overpriced and slow
Great course, great layout and great value. Pretty ridiculous to pay 7.99 for a hot dog though and that was the only food item that we could get quickly at the turn.
Course too crowded
Beautiful and challenging course but tee times are stacked on top of each other so every shot is rushed.
Nice, with a twist.
So I received an invite from a buddy to play this course. When I got there, the tee time was changed and the green fees were $10 more than GolfNow had advertised. Tom in the pro shop could use an attitude adjustment, but other than that everyone else was SUPER nice. If you go, you have to eat some food. I had a burger and it was probably the best burger in the Columbia area. The course is a nice course. Green fairways and up kept greens.
Fun round
Enjoyed our round although pace of play slow on front nine. Picked up on back.
Tee boxes, fairways, & greens in pretty good shape for this time of year. Courteous staff.
I will be back!
Good day for a drive.
Drive down from Rock Hill to play the course for the first time on a Hot Deal. Very picturesque setting among lots of trees and nice houses. Staff very friendly. When I got the scorecard, I noticed no home diagrams, so I asked the pro if diagrams were on the tee boxes. He said there were none on the course and handed me a yardage book, which I assume are usually for sale, at no charge. A+ to the pro.
Was paired with 3 walkers, who allowed me to go on ahead so I wouldn’t be held up ( had my girlfriend with me)., so I took off. 6,959 from the tips. The tee boxes were in good condition. The fairways were decent but not quite filled out yet. The greens were nice overall and would hold a well played shot. A few of the greens seemed to have had recent repairs as they had heavy sand around the edges as well as sod pieces. I was surprised that there were no doglegs on the course. Some holes had a slight bend, but no true doglegs. The par 3s were long and challenging from the tips and the par 5s were reasonable in length.
On a negative note, all the flags on the greens were white. At the turn, I asked the pro how to tell the pin location. He said “We don’t have that yet. You have to use a laser”. Well, I don’t have one, so I used middle of the green yardage all day. (How hard is it to use different colored flags for front, middle, back locations?)
Other than that, I had a great time playing this course and look forward to going back.
Great layout and conditions are beginning to return to past days when club hosted state competitions like the SC Open
Superb layout with each hole displaying unique, memorable character. The greens are good and generally the condition of the course is good and improving.
Hidden gem in blythewood
This is one of the finest courses in the midlands. 5 sets of tee boxes, A couple Drivable par 4’s, eagleable par 5’s. Green are fantastic.
The 79 I shot wasn’t bad either.
First & Last
I found your course on Golf Now app and cost of $28 each was too much for this quality.play.
Good day of January golf!
Course a little wet and some greens a little bare, but we had a great afternoon of golf for mid-January.
