The Windermere Club
About
Located just outside of Columbia, The Windermere Club sits along the banks of the lake that it takes its name from. Pete Dye designed the golf course, crafting a number of memorable holes. It's his only design in the Midlands. No two holes are alike on this challenging layout, so expect to use every club in your bag. The golf course offers a variety of risk-reward opportunities that will appeal to both low and high handicappers. There are also five, and sometimes six, tee boxes on every hole, making the golf course even more appealing for any skill level. The fairways are generous but lined with mature hardwoods and there are strategically placed bunkers to contend with. Golfers at The Windemere Club will also encounter subtle but tricky elevation changes and several lakes and ponds.

Good day for a drive.
Drive down from Rock Hill to play the course for the first time on a Hot Deal. Very picturesque setting among lots of trees and nice houses. Staff very friendly. When I got the scorecard, I noticed no home diagrams, so I asked the pro if diagrams were on the tee boxes. He said there were none on the course and handed me a yardage book, which I assume are usually for sale, at no charge. A+ to the pro.
Was paired with 3 walkers, who allowed me to go on ahead so I wouldn’t be held up ( had my girlfriend with me)., so I took off. 6,959 from the tips. The tee boxes were in good condition. The fairways were decent but not quite filled out yet. The greens were nice overall and would hold a well played shot. A few of the greens seemed to have had recent repairs as they had heavy sand around the edges as well as sod pieces. I was surprised that there were no doglegs on the course. Some holes had a slight bend, but no true doglegs. The par 3s were long and challenging from the tips and the par 5s were reasonable in length.
On a negative note, all the flags on the greens were white. At the turn, I asked the pro how to tell the pin location. He said “We don’t have that yet. You have to use a laser”. Well, I don’t have one, so I used middle of the green yardage all day. (How hard is it to use different colored flags for front, middle, back locations?)
Other than that, I had a great time playing this course and look forward to going back.
Great layout and conditions are beginning to return to past days when club hosted state competitions like the SC Open
Superb layout with each hole displaying unique, memorable character. The greens are good and generally the condition of the course is good and improving.
Hidden gem in blythewood
This is one of the finest courses in the midlands. 5 sets of tee boxes, A couple Drivable par 4’s, eagleable par 5’s. Green are fantastic.
The 79 I shot wasn’t bad either.
First & Last
I found your course on Golf Now app and cost of $28 each was too much for this quality.play.
Good day of January golf!
Course a little wet and some greens a little bare, but we had a great afternoon of golf for mid-January.
Good Little Course with Huge Potential
Love this course layout. It’s got a lot of variety and manages to take good advantage of what little elevation change there is through the area, as well as incorporating water in enough places to keep things interesting. That being said, there are a number of the areas around the course that are pretty rough . I know it’s winter but I felt similarly when I played back when it was warmer. If they just invested a little bit (relatively, of course) more money into the course it really could be pretty special.
Definitely improving
I have been playing this course for 4 years. Stopped playing last spring when the greens were completely gone. They redid the greens over the summer and the course is coming back to life. I wish people would respect the course and not drive the golf carts through the wet fairways. This is all on the lousy golfers out there. This is one of the great layouts on the area and deserves some respect. I feel by the spring thus will be a contender. Course conditions still rating as average but definitely trending up
Terrible conditions
This is an incredible layout, completely gone to waste. The place is on life support. A complete lack care to facilities and course conditions. I now know the reason every time I drive by the parking lot is empty. The place needs probably 5-7 million in repairs
Beautiful day of golf
I had. Great day on a wet golf course. Joined three other golfer and really enjoyed their company. Have to play again, soon!
Much Improved!!
We went out there a couple of years ago and the course was in terrible condition. Since then the greens have been redone. Sunday the course was in fantastic condition! Great job turning it around!
Replacement of the Greens...Quality Tuned Up
I have been playing this course for several years and the bent grass greens were okay in the winter but summer they would burn up. All 18 greens have been replaced with the same Bermuda grass as Quail Hollow in Charlotte and the greens are now rolling really good and will only get better next year.
This is a Pete Dye designed course and the only links style in the Columbia SC area so the layout is simply amazing!!
Can't wait to see more improvements coming in the near future!
Beginning to be maintained, great layout, challenging
Wonderful course slowly and steadily being maintained and coming back. Great layout. Challenging. Worth playing if people ride on the side of the fairways, avoid carts near the green and take 90 degree paths.
Great layout, great course.
For the price, a great course with a great layout. If you don’t like the condition, pay $100 at the least to maintain the course. It’s a course with challenges and scenery. Play without loosing a single ball :)
Old slow pokes
There was two sets of geasers in front of me a single holding up the entire course. Playing split tees and not one offered to let me play through as a single and I saw the ranger once. Other than that tho it’s a nice course
Good golf
It was raining all way through round so that didn't help but over all a good test .I was plesently surprised how good the greens were...bunkers in horrid conditions...course needs a little TLC
New greens
Just put in new greens and they came in nice. The front nine are well done and the back nine are mostly in. Not overly crowded so was able to get a nice 3 hour round of 18 in.
