About
Timberlake Country Club in Chapin sits on the shores of Lake Murray, just outside of Columbia in the Midlands of South Carolina. The classic design is reminiscent of traditional Scottish links courses, featuring a combination of water and pot bunkers as well as large grassy swales. The golf course sprawls across rolling hills, which provide plenty of contours and elevation changes. From the elevated tees, golfers will have a dramatic view of the rugged landscape. The golf course is mostly open though there are a few stands of mature trees that can be troublesome if you're not careful. The cavernous bunkers and carefully molded mounding present formidable challenges that will test even the best golfers. In addition to the golf course, Timberlake also offers a full driving range and practice green as well as tennis courts and an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

Winter golf
Took a 2 hour drive south to get away from cold and rainy conditions. Layout was good. Course was ok conditions wise
Really wet from all the rain in the area the last few weeks which is nobody's fault. Bunkers had some rocks.( Never good ) pro shop guy was okay but seemed a bit irritated we had booked through golfnow. Charged one guy full price because he didn't say we booked through golf now even though the tee time was under my name on golf now and "had no way to refund " the money?
We were 45 minutes early
Ready to go and had to wait to tee of (late) as 2 groups arrived late but had tee times in front of us. All in all a good golf course with a fun layout around Lake Murray. Just didn't get a welcome vibe.
We will probably play again.
Good course
New carts with tablets on them and back nine has been renovated. Good course to play
Okay
Brand new carts are very nice. Older guy in the pro shop was very friendly. Course is in pretty good shape but they are selling 2 week old sandwiches in the club house. Guy at the snack bar didn’t seem in a great mood either.
Much improved course.
The course has improved so much since I played it last year. I actually enjoyed my round of golf this time. The pace of play was excellent. There were still some bad spots on the edges of the greens, but overall the greens were in good shape. I am so glad this course is in better shape. I will be playin here again soon.

Got lucky on a Friday w/ low temps & humidity. Course is improving. Had a fantastic day.
Renovations look great
Recently renovated course looking great. Greens in great condition all around as well as fairways. Challenging layout will test your skills for a fun round.
Terrible
Tee’d off Friday at 2:09. Played first 9 holes in 1 hour 40 min. Currently Back nine we were 1 hour 20 min and sitting on 12. A Marshall came through and said a dog fight went off at 1230 and mr Koosa plays real slow and will not let anyone play through.
Guess this is why koosa golf has such a bad rep.
Course under repair
Greens need total replacement. Golf Now should include a last green aeration date on the listings by the prices.
Uhhh the Greens need help
Timberlake is such a fun layout that you don’t see in and r around Columbia and still is. Course is looking good except THE GREENS! 0/9 greens on the front nine are playable and 4/9 on the back nine are playable. Idk what happened to them but to still charge full price is not a good look. Like I said course is a fun challenge and in good shape just the greens are ROUGH
Terrible Greens
This course have severely went down. This use to be one of the best course around. Now it's one of the worst. They have not taken care of the greens. It basically like putting on a baseball infield. More dirt than grass. Don't try to read the greens for putting it's useless, because it mainly just dirt. Fairway is excellent after that nothing to brag about. This was a wasted 38.00
CRAPPY COURSE AWFUL GREENS NOTHING BUT DIRT
THIS COURSE WAS IN THE WORST SHAPE OF ANYTHING I HAVE EVER SEEN. THE GREENS WERE BUMPY DIRT. THE GRASS WAS DEAD.
Horrible!
I’ve played this course quite a few times over the years. Used to have out of town friends and business colleagues experience the beauty and fun of this course. It seems to be getting worse every year from how nice it once was. The greens (dirt beds) are horrible! What was once a nice beautiful course with some fun challenges has now lost its beauty from so many trees being cleared out. It has and is continuing to become a cow pasture type course the way it’s being cleared. Sad. I will never play it again nor will I ever recommend it.
Horrible- should be shut down for rebuilding.
Don’t waste your hard earned money!
Every green is bad, no grass on greens, tees are not even groomed..
It is really sad how bad it really has gotten.
Needs help
Greens were probably some of the worst I have ever seen. This place needs a lot of work.
